    I'm in AZ and this is the most informative video I've seen on TOMCAR. Thanks!

    My Tomcar TX2 is ancient... but still takes me where I want to go and back. Speedometer doesn't work anymore but they are easy to field repair and are tough as hell. I live in Arizona so think MOAB and the Centipede. I think mine is on the 2nd Kohler engine now with 100K+ miles on it. I was used as a rental in Sedona for 10+ years, 8 hour days 6 days per week with no breaks. Runs like a tank.

      100k miles for real?!!! That’s pretty wild.

    Would be cool to see you get your hands on a tx3 for a review. Hard to find any good TH-cam videos doing reviews on tomcars, good to see someone finally is. Hope to see another one from you. Thanks for the vid.

      Just go get one. Doesn't matter how old they are, as they're like the original VW Beetle, you can fix anything on it in a day without any special custom parts or tools. I bought mine for $4700 and replaced the battery, oil, and throttle cable. In an hour, I had a durable machine ready to take on the Centipede in Arizona! You can still find them for sale. I'm not sure what people are saying about speed though, these things will go 55mph and when you're on trails, you've got to be trying to kill yourself to want to offroad that fast. I have jeeps look at me in amazement as it climbs over things they put 80K into their jeep to make it through.

    Rumor has it Tomcar went out of business 😢
    I have 2 Tomcars they are the best…

      Tomcar Australia did, not the main company.
      I was just down at their deer Valley shop less than a year ago. And they still post on Facebook.

      I can confirm they ARE NOT out of business. They are understaffed a bit at the moment, but they do respond to emails and are open and in business. I just got new seat covers for my TM2 last month.

      Tomcar filed for bankruptcy back in February 2023 and let go of all their employees I worked there for almost 6 years. They are no longer building cars. Production was moved to Mexico in 2020. They have left over parts for old models in the warehouse.

    I had a TM-4, loved it. Tomcar in Phoenix cares NOTHING about customer service. They want to sell NEW units, not support older units. I took my 4 seater to the factory on a trailer (9 hrs each way) and could not get anyone to even talk with me. I was prepared to spend thousands, just not tens of thousands. They are Israeli, that tells me something.

    • @redneckphysics
      @redneckphysics  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's to bad that you had that experience. I personally spent hours on the phone with them while working through a repair troubles, and one of the higher ups even sat down with me and we had a very enjoyable conversation when i went in for a new trany. Maybe you caught them on a bad day...

    • @Devin_Stromgren
      @Devin_Stromgren หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you just randomly show up to the factory? If so, I doubt many manufactures would react any different.

    • @darrinjones3736
      @darrinjones3736 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Devin_Stromgren No, I called in advance. They ONLY wanted to sell me a new unit. They acted as if my 15 year old TM4 was worthless. Very rude. Nice on the phone beforehand, that is why I trailered it 9 hrs each way. I was hopeful and willing to spend thousands for a new motor.
      Went from being a BIG promoter of the TomCar Brand to being stunned by the piss poor attitude.

    • @Devin_Stromgren
      @Devin_Stromgren หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darrinjones3736 I'm not defending them because it sounds like you were mislead, but I still would have been surprised if they'd fixed it for you. After all, factories aren't usually set up to be service shops.

    • @darrinjones3736
      @darrinjones3736 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Devin_Stromgren This is NOT GM or Ford, it is a small fabrication shop of less than 50 people. They could have sold me an engine or pointed me in the right direction instead of leading me on and after driving, with a trailer 6 or 7 hours, said something like "Oh! it is a 2007 model? We don't build them like that anymore, want a new 2020 model with the Chinese engine? For $40k? - No Thanks. I wasted $10k on an older unit that was fun while it lasted, those engines just were not made to last. But probably better than the Chinese crap anyhow.

  • @chrisjones9115

    If I could afford $60k I would absolutely have one! Unfortunately, due to the price and me being less than rich, I have to buy one of those that are pretty much done after 5,000 miles!😪

    • @jasonberry3820
      @jasonberry3820 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mine was a rental unit with 100K on it. I bought it for $4700. 5000 miles isn't even a break in for these. They are military vehicles.

    Too wide and expensive for me. Trails are 65 inch maximum width in my state. That exposed drive belt is a no go! You run over a branch and there goes your belt.

    • @redneckphysics
      @redneckphysics  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I totally understand about the 65 inch limit. They sell certain models with no cover so that you can change belts literally in seconds during combat, but they also have covers if you’re gonna be in wet places.

  • @jffloughrey
    @jffloughrey 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    The new car with the modular cage isnt even in production and only a prototype. The car they have there has been built in Israel and was sent to us to build off of. The Israeli welds and build quaility on that chassis is not good, and dont reflect the craftmanship of the guys that worked in the shop in AZ. The older TX models and TM models frames are proven and are strong.

      Do you know if they ever made the switch to mechanical lockers? They were talking about last time I was in the. Deer valley shop.?

    • @jffloughrey
      @jffloughrey 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      When I was working there still the engineering team were testing different lockers, but never decided on one. To my knowledge they still use the air locker. With the new turbo gm motor the lockers were constant problems.
