It’s great news that your toilet fits so perfectly in your shower! And I’m loving the overall aesthetic in your home! I have a couple of thoughts or suggestions for you. Most composting toilets, including the Nature’s Head, require a small fan running all the time to maintain the composting process. The fan uses only .07 of a watt, although that adds up to 20 watts a day. You can get a power station to run just that and even a fairly small one, say 250 watts, would run it for more than a week. I’m concerned about two things with your current setup. One is the vent hose running across the floor. It could get stepped on and broken, so attaching it to the wall might be a possibility. And having an open hole in the floor can provide easy access for rodents or other animals as well as insects. I would suggest putting a screen across it. Or blocking that one completely and putting a smaller hole in the wall, also with a screen, so air can get through but creepy-crawlies can’t. But hey, it’s all a process!
You should get a smaller shed to use as an outhouse. Another option is to add another bathroom to your current house with an access door for you. Check your city codes so you don't incur violations.
I definitely don’t have enough money to build a whole new bathroom rn but that’s a good idea. I love the idea of everything being within the 7x12 feet of the tiny house but if there’s issues maybe I’d move it to the green house
@elijahray132 If you must keep it inside, remember to vent it down wind so the wind can blow away the smell. Also, some people with those toilets complain about gnats, so you might need to use air fresheners with lavender/vanilla to keep those insects away.
I love seeing a Portlander make the move to go Tiny. I've always wanted to build one in my backyard and always been afraid to. I love your real talk about the process and also the time lapses.
Never seen anyone put one of those toilets together. Interesting. Your bed does fit back in the corner nicely. Yeah, it fits! Your creativity knows no bounds.
You really should have checked out a BOXIO toilet. They are reasonably cheap and very portable. I have one and it is very easy to take care of. It's the cheapest toilet I could find and works well. I also got the BOXIO lift for underneath it. It makes it higher and it has storage inside it for bags and litter. It pretty much looks like a milk crate. I empty the liquid in the morning and evening and keep it clean. It's really convenient. The liquids and solids are separate. You can experiment with different "litter" sources to find what's best for you. The solids can be bagged and trashed after several uses with the proper litter that stops any odors. It's no different than putting a baby diaper in the trash. It's very easy to move around. I take it camping with me and I also use it in my bedroom at home in case I need it in the middle of the night.
Hey, I love the place I was thinking about if you had a cover for the toilet not to get too wet because you don’t want it to get to wet it can slow down the decomposing process.
hi i've been following your tiny house journey so far :) just curious, why not be roommates with your sister or live in the attic instead of a tiny house?
It’s always been a dream of mine to live in a tiny house! Also my sister is only staying until she finds her own place then I’ll rent it out to a stranger so I might as well make the leap now 🙌🏽
I live in a tiny house so I'ma just say how I have my bathroom set up. I have a long garden hose with a filter that supplies water from the main house so I have a regular flushing toilet and then the waste is managed like an RV where blackwater and greywater drain into a large portable tank outside. I have a macerator pump with a car battery that then attaches to the waste tank with a large garden hose on the other end to then drain the tank into a septic system. Everything included, you could put together this type of system for like $300.
Get you a dehumidifier for when you take showers or you will have condensation over everything and you won't be able to put your yarn in their. You will get mold
Have you checked to see if your state/county allows tiny homes or ADU on your property. This is something you should make sure it’s ok before putting in all this work just to find out it’s not allowed and then you are not able to rent out the entire house but you could rent out part of the house it it’s not permissive to have a tiny home.
Hello I just made my own toilet it’s crazy how much they are. Take care 😊 Emptied the wee bottle every day. It will end up smelling if you leave it too long. Also if you leave it too long, the bottle ends up rotting and you will get stained smells in it. They’re very hard to find replacement bottles so be careful that’s why I made my own.
Wow ok this is really good to know! Maybe I should change it daily 😅 I’m jealous I wish I would have made one myself but I was scared it wouldn’t do the job.
I am seeing comments about adding additional part for your toilet to go in. New York going to get tired having to move the toilet in and out of the shower. That's going to become a headache.
Yeah it might I’ll just have to see if it is maybe I’ll put it in my green house. I have neighbors that have 3 stories so they can look into my yard, I don’t want it to be obvious that it’s an outhouse tbh
Go to the junk yard and buy 4 of the same jacks you should be able to get them for anout 10 dollars a peace and then you can put two on the front and two on the back and will level it out
since this is your property the money you spent on the toilet you could build an addition on to your house and connect your plumbing and electrical to wat you have in your bigger house already you save money and it makes more sense then trying to force everything into something a lil bigger than a jail cell.
You should get a hands-free microphone, then it will free up your hands to be able to do everything that you do without holding the microphone. I hope you can figure things out.
No disrespect but you spent 1000.00$ on a toilet that your only gonna use for pee that's going into the yard for fertilization when you could just go outside n pee in the yard....and you could've used the money to straighten your tiny house out so it's leveled ☺️👍🏾being the jacks were 50$ you could've bought 4 n saved lots of money to get something over your green house to block the rain
Well like I said in the video I’ll be only peeing in it for the next three weeks until my house is occupied. I plan to live in this tiny house for the next couple years so yes it’s worth the money. I’ll get the jacks soon but I have other things that are a bit more important. My green house will be taken care of. I know what I’m doing just keep watching if you care to find out.
@@elijahray132 You also need to get Sphagnum Peat Moss as a Composting Medium otherwise it can not do the process of composting once you start to use it fulltime. Yes I went and read the Manual for your Compost Toilet.

Great ideas!

Yesss!! So do I 😊 you should do it! 🙌🏽 and thank you very much ⭐️⭐️
I didn't know your an oregonian.
Yeaaah 😋

Yeaah I want to show it alll & ikr I got lucky with the size of it. Thank you ☺️
That toilet looks so brilliant. Can you maybe build a toilet just outside your front door to the side. 💛
Oh like a little outhouse maybe 🤔
@@elijahray132 Yes totally - you can build right next to your front door on the side.
Love love love your tiny house watching from uk 🎉🎉
Omggg thank you so much ☺️
Thumbs up-❤ on your new compost toilet
I am in love with it 🤩
Yes, the toilet has arrived 🙌🏾 Also, didn’t realize how much I would miss seeing Cheddar!
Yess I’m so happy It did 😋 awwww that’s sweet ☺️

Wowww I should have that sounds amazing
@@elijahray132I just checked the price of it on their website and the price has gone up a bit since I bought it a year ago. But I love it.
@marilynrenaud1892 well if I ever wanna change it up I’ll definitely consider getting one thanksss
I look forward to more toilet videos. I’d love to hear the real deal too. You are so brave! 😂😩
Lmaooo I hope all goes well 🤞🏽
Lots of Tiny Homes and Motor Homes have compost toilets. I think it's a great idea.
Yeah thank you!
Hi, try putting 2 double bagged trash bags inside the bottom of your toliet. That should work well when mixing your composting material. Good luck! 😊
Great idea
Can you use bags to make it easy to clean? Just wondering.
Yeah I was thinking that, I saw one of the people that reviewed it saying they did that 🤔
Nice I love those rugs they are gorgeous 🥰
Thank you !! ☺️
Hey, I love the place I was thinking about if you had a cover for the toilet not to get too wet because you don’t want it to get to wet it can slow down the decomposing process.
It has a lid for it and I don’t turn on the shower with it in there
@ Lmaoo🤣 I just figured you’d sit on it to run a shower but that’s better.

Oh wow that’s amazing I need to look into how to make that happen 😳
Stack cinderblocks or bricks under the corners to stabilize.
Ooh yeah that sounds inexpensive
Elijah I get you,, I need plumbing also.. got to have it. I don’t want to visit something that has vacated my body, that’s what plumbing is for.
Lmao 😭 yes you get it
@
Just learned that your cats name is ‘Cheddar’ so sweet,,
@nlt10016 lol yeah thank you ♥️🐈

Yes I did my research and I am able to have one tiny house on wheels if I am the one occupying it since I’m the owner of the house

@elijahray132 that will and get 4 sender blocks to put the jacks on for safety bro
since this is your property the money you spent on the toilet you could build an addition on to your house and connect your plumbing and electrical to wat you have in your bigger house already you save money and it makes more sense then trying to force everything into something a lil bigger than a jail cell.
It would cost at least 10-20k for that.. the permits & all
That would not cost a grand. 😂🙄
Right 😭 if it was cheap I would have done it.
Hi again. Did you remember to put your tarp over the green house?
I haven’t done it yet I’m still figuring it all out 😅
Harbor freight has affordable jackstands
Aye ok I just looked it up
I had this toilet and I liked it, but I also made my own.
Oh wow ok great!! I hope I do too maybe I’ll make my own as well down the line
Nice vid

For now, i'm holding my breath. 😄
lol 😅
You should get a hands-free microphone, then it will free up your hands to be able to do everything that you do without holding the microphone. I hope you can figure things out.
Yeah I should invest in one, this one I can do that but the sound isn’t the greatest. Thank you!!
Please clip your microphone to your shirt.
I have a $10 mic so it’s not great sound quality when I do that but I started to

Then he has to deal with the smell of urine.
@RenaeStomer he's already gone deal with the smell by dumping the pee from the toilet in the yard what's the difference
Stale Pee Smells horrid. So I highly advsie you to empty it every day at least once.
Yeah seems like the TH-camrs I watched may have been onto something when they said to change it daily 😅😅
