That is...quite the reading Random Internet Guy... I don't know what I like better, the Aidan Gillan-esque Littlefinger accent or the shrillness of your Lyssa Arryn/Baelish impression. It truly is difficult to decide. Both are deftly done!
So full disclosure I did not record this over one day and it was actually pretty hard to go back and try to match the voices so I tried to record it in like 3 sections lol I think it turned out really cool so I'm pretty happy 😁
Upon reread, when Lisa says “You can’t want her. You can’t. She’s a stupid empty-headed little girl. She doesn’t love you the way I have. I’ve always loved you. I’ve proved it, haven’t I?”. I feel that she’s not referring to Sansa as much as she’s referring to Catelyn.
I think she is projecting Catelyn onto Sansa much in the way that a little finger projects Catelyn on to Sansa but kind of from the opposite end of the picture I guess you could say 🤔 Almost like in this sentence she's yelling about both of them at the same time(?)
Thank you I'm very glad you enjoyed the reading! I really appreciate the feedback. I feel like Lysa is a byproduct heavily of the mistreatment she's had throughout her life. Is which kind of make her a more understandable kind of person. Where as Petyr is more of a victim of his own internalizations, which have warped him into the Littlefinger we know. I think both characters are fantastically written though and they are both some of my favorite Georgia Martin characters this is definitely in my top 5 of all of his chapters in the asoiaf series 😁
@@randominternetguyoffical Both are byproducts of their mistreatment IMHO. This doesn't excuse them by any stretch of their plotting and murders. I am a very nurture over nature kind of person. Littlefinger had an extreme reaction to the hierarchical toxic masculinity that led him to his particular psychopathy. Guy got done wrong when he tried to reach for his dreams of Kat, didn't take it well when life didn't turn out like a story. Peter then patiently struck back at everyone who wronged him. He stumbled into starting Robert's Rebellion by telling Brandon Rhaegar stole Lyanna. After this taste of manipulative power, he started plotting for real.
@@randominternetguyoffical Good call on Peter being behind Hosters death. This chapter really lays out a lot of why's as drunk Lysa spills so many beans...
@@BillyBasd Reading it years ago was the genesis of my theorizing, just took until recently for a reread to make it all kinda click as it were. Very curious to see if the analysis will catch on in the broader theory discourse. Littlefinger is one of the more unexplored characters (at least it seems) so I feel like there's lotta fun fan talk to be had over it. Hence why I tired to start the LF series by jumping in on what is now like 4-6 year old videos by the famous asoiaf youtubers XD
@@randominternetguyoffical Littlefinger deserves more exploration like you are doing. Peter is like almost all of GRRM'S characters in that he's far more complex than a mustachioed villain. Peter wanted more than his station would allow... to have a real relationship with the girl of his dreams. Kat was too far above Peter's station for Hosters to accept. Too bad we will never know what feelings Kat had for Peter at the time. Kat's POV is too far removed, the events too traumatic for her to remember accurately. It seems to me that Kat DID have feelings for Peter that she buried and denied best she could. If she was honest with herself she would know that her ex is not to be trusted. Especially given the circumstances. Peter wagered everything he had or conceivably would to fight a hopeless duel for your hand, asked for your favor, was denied and lost. Due will have motivations beyond helping you meet your goals. Makes me want to reread Kat's chapters for clues. Keep it up, your work is good
I hate, hate, hate the "may I come into your castle" // "be gentle" implications. Petyr is such a compelling character but these p3do interactions make me wanna throw up
I defiantly get that, Petyr is one of my favorite characters but one needs to keep him at a fictional arms length. I feel its an unfortunately accurate representation of who and what he is. Like not mincing words he is a groomer and predator and so he acting as such and its highly apparent in this chapter. That said the fact that GRRM can write him in his full grotesqueness and that he can still be part of a story we follow after years and years of rereads really does speak to how well he is written. The conclusion of the Sansa and Littlefinger arc of the story is one that I am much looking forward to.
@@randominternetguyoffical One of my biggest curiosities is on whether Sansa an Jeyne Poole will reunite and how Sansa will react when she knows how Jeyne got s3xually enslav3d by Petyr before being sold to the Boltons.
Personally I feel immense empathy for Lysa as a character, doesn't excuse her throwing a crazy fit, but she's extremely tragic to me. Where as Baelish I have much less empathy for lol
@@randominternetguyoffical yeah, Lysa really derserves some pity or even sympathy. she is not all innocent a pure victim, but she got fucked over and messed up badly by the men in her life
Great Job RIG. Do I remember correctly that the small detail of the one lost shoe came up later in the story again? Love how Martin just almost randomly put that in.
Thank you so much, I'm very happy that the reading has been so well received! Sharp book fans noticed that its actually ASOS not ACOK! The title has been updated to reflect that!
"...and squatted on his heels..."
Littlefinger is a Slav confirmed
I need a pic of him in a track suit now XD
The show had the moon door in the floor, one change that actually was an improvement. Much more terrifying.
I did like the floor door that was pretty fun

That Lysa Arryn 🤯
For just a moment Petyr acts like a decent human to Sansa, like a dad almost. And then hes back to being a slimy little nonce
he's certainly a manipulator through and through
