When your kids are your priority you make a clean and cosy home for them, you teach them how to respect themselves and those around them and all of that starts with manners and hygiene.
I agree, they need a clean cosy safe space. I had a tendency to leave clutter (always clean, just not putting stuff back) for a 1-3 days, since having my son I've never done that once as he deserves the best. I have autism so sometimes it's overwhelming but he comes first.
How judgemental. My mother was super clean and I had a horrible childhood. Being clean and loving your children are two separate things.

@@sallywaites8517 that's why I said when your children are your priority, if your mother was super clean and didn't care about your emotional well-being then her cleansing was her priority, not her kids. Motherhood is a complete task, we fail sometimes but we have to strive to give our best for our kids. No child asked to come to this world, so if you have them take it seriously and give your 💯, otherwise don't bring kids.
I can agree with that, but there’s a fine line that can be crossed with being ocd with cleaning and putting a clean/dirty home over children’s mental health.

I didn't like the the comment George is an even mine and he knows what to do I hope it wasn't her stepson because basically that was humiliating her sun I got OCD but I don't make snide comments to other people when they come in to visit me and I might add I'm a wheelchair user and virtually bed-bound and my carer is fantastic with but I certainly don't deliberately humiliate people unless I have misunderstood but great series nonetheless and I feel very very sorry for anyone in the situation you can't keep their home clean and tidy it must be heartbreaking I just hope that never happens to me regardless of I'll I become in the future

@@samanthaabreu782 there is an old adage Samantha sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me that is completely wrong and a stupid saying in my opinion but it'd be little your own son in front of a friend could be argued that when they go to school he could say your mummy likes me better than you because I take my shoes off to use another expression and I might had a classic song by Whitney children listen so no I don't think I'm overreacting as my father adopted I'm pleased to say used to say the same sort of things to me that's why I ended up with chronic OCD but nonetheless I like the programs as well

Good for you! I am Canadian and I watched The US Series Hoarders on Arts & Entertainment aka A & E. Alot of time these shows have folks who have some traumatic experiences. One lady lost everything in a Fire, another lady spent to make up for what she didn't have in High School and the girls were very mean to her. Her attachment is synonomous with folks. Also with The Fashion and the like, maybe she holds on to it because it made her feel good because back in the day she was very succssful. I think I would have cried if I saw all of this.
Louise feels that she had to project this image of "perfection" becuase she needs to prove that although her personal didn't have a happy ending, she's proud that she can keep the house and keep it immaculate. Also needs to watch her heatlh and weight, she could be a candidate for diabetes.
Sarah seems to be a very warm-hearted woman who had collected way too much stuff. Louise gets stressed very easily. Laura had let her house get very unhygienic & too cluttered. I hope they all live happier lives now. I also feel very sorry for Lesley. It must be so hard & limiting living with that level of OCD.

But she's an OCD cleaner who follows her family around cleaning behind them wherever they go! So even if that was the case it would be cleaned immediately 🤷♀️
Out of date dry spices and herbs don’t really go off, they just become bland.

Laura is probably the most humble person I've seen on here. Like most of the time everyone's super defensive and on occasion rude but the fact she made an effort to even say she wasn't trying to be rude or ungrateful is just Ugh. I hate people but fuck me she's a good one
I couldn't agree more. Even though she wasn't being difficult to deal with she still apologized and actually stopped overthinking just for the sake of progress. She was so easy and polite. Hope she is doing better.
Her house is really small.. not much space to store stuff for 3…
I cried after seeing Laura's progress that really made me happy for her and the kids.I admit to thinking he would be too grossed out to help her.They did a awesome job🙂

I went from plastic bins to storage carts to make it work whatever I had to do,
and some things you also just do not need.
Yes, if the space are small for all the things, we have to use the hights in the room, wt shelves almost up to the ceiling ‼️Shelves over the doors are recommended, use the doors to hang things on‼️
Has anyone told Louise, that flushing a toilet with the lid up, has been scientifically proven to spray microscopic poo particles all over the bathroom!!!!
i always flush with the lid down, else what is a lid for?
Yeah I was a little surprised that she let them do that haha but when you clean 3 times aday it doesnt really matter, right? Also why is she so worried about them touching the lid when they're going to clean their hands afterwards anyways haha
But she cleans everywhere twice a day so I'm sure the germs don't escape her

@@sushimitten yeah most likely; there is also some parts that feels "scripted" like I remember an episode where a hoarder was throwing a huge fight over his stuff and then the next second he said almost robotically to the camera "I'm so grateful for x to clean life will be easier they are right i shouldnt live like this" but his eyes were dead

I'm noticing quite a variety of body types: overweight, lean, middling, fit, etc. OCD seems to defy any physical body types as far individuals who are afflicted. I'm sure the constant movement does help keep the weight down however.
I have seen the fitbit of a woman who cleans as a job, she can, on an average 8 hr day, burn up to 2100 calories at work, she then has the insanity to go to the gym. She has to eat 2400 calories of food to not risk losing too much weight too fast (she is losing weight for health reasons), so she burns about 400 calories excess a day and eats healthy and is coming down in weight nice and safely.
Ok I CANNOT with Adam, the posters of the nights out framed in his house, the Bon Jovi poster, the trucker cap hooked on the back of jeans. 😂 God love him. He looks a lot younger then his 42 years, got to give it to him.

Lesley has put her ocd on to her daughter ,Tuesday, which is sad. Get her away from the mother and I think she could become normal.
they do care about each other, but a break might do them both good.
I am so proud of the people with OCD for having gone out of their comfort zone. I am very impressed. I am not sure about the dull colours for the before shots and the bright colours for the after shots as it feels like cheating to make it look better, whilst in all cases the changes were massif anyway.

Yknow I think Sarah was right. She has started the process and thrown tons away, but when you have so much stuff of course it will be hard to throw it all away. Louise wanted it all gone because of her trauma which is understandable, but I think she needed to realize that it wasnt her house and that it couldnt be done in a day anyways. When you want to throw stuff out of your basement do you just take a bin and toss it? No you go through it and evaluate. For some people it might take longer and so they had a fight. Im so happy that they both made up and worked together in the end anyways! Im proud of them both and happy that everyone got something good out of the show! :)
Decluttering secret for me is the stages. What could go and how. Take it out in small loads at a time. Pawn shop, donation place or other or store for a bit and revisit. It is a process.
It just seems lots of these people do not realize just how easier it can be to keep a house clean if there is not much stuff in it... I am trying to be more careful about buying new things for this very reason, make sure when I do get something it is something I can value for a long time... quality over quantity.
Laura: I am so proud of you. You really made a huge improvement. It is so much easier to keep up on cleaning when there isnt so much clutter around. Great job lady.

There are great antiques and vintage/retro stuff in the homes of England. Now you can actually see the cool stuff Sarah has.
So… nobody is gonna talk about that poor hamster. They need AT LEAST 450 square inches with unbroken floorspace. I think these people don’t know the right care for them so i hope someone pointed it out to her.
On this show Sarah's house wasn't to bad compared to others some of it was actually organised. It didn't even look to dusty or dust on the floor.

Poor Adam, hes trying to be so polite at same time dealing with his stress of OCD, my hubby had OCD, so I understand him, it can be so emotionally painful putting himself through this house and yet keep his cool!!

I’m unsure about Tuesday I find it sad that she can’t hug her own mom due to the phobias but in this one she’s linked arms with a man she hardly knows and another one hugs a man. She knows how clean her mom is but not those men yet she’s more touchy feely with them. It’s very strange.
I’m glad Sarah’s house got to retain so much personality, it’s a shame Lara’s ended up so dull… she had so many colourful decorations beforehand
Those two little girls are treasures, aware, sensitive, intelligent.....hope so much their mother will keep the house lovely for them.
I don't like odd numbers either and pictures on walls that aren't straight annoy me too; I have to live in a clean environment that is clutter free, but I think it's partly with having lived with a hoarder for years. I'm not as compulsive as Adam is though.
i hate too much clear space, makes me feel cold, and its too loud, but if you have lived with a hoarder... wow, i can undetstand! you would need space amd clean, just to feel like you can breathe!!
The group... These people aren't afraid of germs, they are afraid of life. Has anyone told them how many bacteria we have in the gut? I hope they continued getting professional help and are doing much better.
I'm proud of Sarah, she was right to confront her "helper " & she made major progress. She asked for help, but seemed more tuned in to the process.
I really liked her, she was totally right, that woman was trying to turn her house into an empty show home, she went on and on about her own issues and how hard it was for her but no empathy for Sarahs issues with being a hoarder and finding it hard letting go of sentimental possessions

@@Slatex You're thinking of OCD like a bad habit. That is incorrect. It is an illness. Tuesday did probably inherit a disposition to it from her mother. And since mental illness is very complicated and can definitely be affected by environment, trauma, etc, living with a parent with full blown Obsessive Compulsive Disorder would have contributed. But do not dare judge this as a personal failing or a sin. It is as much a disease as epilepsy. You can try to control it with meds, but success is not guaranteed. This whole thing was just a dehumanizing freak show.

Sarah has such a beautiful home.
When you have continued to be incredibly clean for so long or as a child you end up not getting exposed to different bacteria and can become very sick later on to things that would have not made you sick if you would have. It can be dangerous.
My house is clean and tidy 80% of the time... that 20% is so my kids have some germs so they don't end up sick

The OCD people in this programme are terrible at recycling. They use so much plastic etc. then just bin it 🤬
I don’t have OCD, but I do like certain things in a certain way. I hope these people can attempt to overcome the severe OCD. Too much clutter is stressful. I couldn’t imagine spending double digit hours per week cleaning my house!

You prune,the water gets replaced with fresh and clean water from the Cistern as soon as the toilet is flushed so it is not harmful

Wastes so much time with them lot in the middle, when we could see more of the house cleaning progress. I feel though Lara’s now is lovely clean & decluttered, lacks any personality & looked cold & uninviting.
Actually that it is about the people not the stuff or cleaning is what makes this show different and more worthwhile for me because getting away from hoarding is a process within oneself. If you try to help you don't change a thing if you change the house only and not the person. What I don't like is that it doesn't show what's the problem with OCD. How is this supposed to help the person with OCD? If I had OCD and saw a hoarder's house I would think that my way is the right way not seeing my own problem. The person overwhelmed with stuff is not in the position to show what is wrong with you when cleaning has made your life difficult because of the time consumption. That person probably is not able to show you how your behavior is strange and has become alienating to others.
Yes maybe Lara's house could still improve. If it was mine I would lose this table cloth and put up pictures that one could look at from a distance. I would move the frame with the family fotos to a place where one could see them from a short distance without a table in between, perhaps an entrance or exit area to another room.
The living room is very small and it's unfortunate that the sofa is facing a wall and a heating device. If it was my living room I would lose that plant and let the sofa face the stairs even if that means blocking the heat a little.
He is sympathic and I like that he really did his best to help her. That is why I felt it was heart-warming to see a little bit of his style in her house. But of course it has to be her style when it is her house and eventually she will make a few alterations so that it pleases her.

@@stavroulathebest he can definitely afford it, he is or was a weather forecaster at the time.
I did think that too and then i remembered it would mean that his face profile would slightly change/or change alot depending on procedure, and maybe he didnt want that.I had braces as adult as i could no longer cope I was convinced people were laughing at me i was diagnosed with body dysmorphia and had to have few appointments before having braces to see if its definately the right choice, and the psychiatrist at dental hospital made the ultimate decision as to whether he thought that i can deal with the change, to which he agreed as it was making me more depressed and my OCD worse.For me i had to have 2 healthy teeth removed was abit disapointed in that respect but then they needed to make space.Im so happy with outcome.Some treatments involve wearing a head brace, depends on each individual case.
I identify with Adam, although I'm not necessarily a clean freak I do like everything in order & in its place and if it's not, that literally knocks me out of my stride and affects my day.
Watching the gang progress in their journey to combat their OCD is such a wonderful thing to witness across all the episodes.

adam is the first person i’ve ever related too the taking hours on keeping things in order and straightening things and the phone clutter is so mentally draining and not fun at all
I remember when I got to the Age of around 12ish that's when I started being a Young Lad that Had to have My Bedroom polished and Hoovered etc. I Remember when I used to go into My Mates Bedrooms to Play PlayStation etc They All had Messy Bedrooms with Clothes, Cd's Toy Cars etc all over the Place However I always made Sure once a Week that I polished and Hoovered My Room and I had a Long Unit that Had My Model Planes on and Model Cars and I always made sure that they too were Wiped over (Dusted) and I would even do the Top of My Wardrobe (Closet) and ever since I've Always kept My Rooms Clean.
However now I'm 37 Years Old and I Now Live in a One Bedroom Flat and Live alone in SW Birmingham UK. Since I Moved into This Flat back in June 2008 I've always kept a Clean Flat and each Time I cook etc I just Tidy-up as I go Along, My Toilet is that Clean I Could eat off it with NO Problems atall however I Would NEVER Spend 6+ Hours Per day Cleaning not just because That wastes Your Life away but it could cause more Harm than good by Weakening Your Immune system. Keeping a Clean Tidy House is Always a Good thing but Bleaching Everything for Many Hours per Day WILL Cause More Damage to Your Health in the Long Run. That's Just My Personal Opinion. I have NO Disrespect for ANYONE Who Lives in the Opposite way to Me. Much Love ALL From Birmingham UK.
