Be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Back in 2020 when BRP quit production of Evinrude, they said back then that the Evinrude name and ETEC technology would not be sold to any other investor. But I'm like you, I sure wish somebody would be able to get Evinrude back into production.
Private equity and millionaires on boardrooms are so smart. We keep voting for them in every corporate capacity and it kills everything we love everytime.
From history the new company should be called Johnnyrude, these guys produced some legendary outboard engines, my favourite was the Johnson 75hp stinger, you put that on a 14ft boat back in the day nothing was touching it
I was at the first dealer meeting after BRP purchased alumacraft. They would not let me drive becasue I had a BlackMax tattoo on my bicep. I said, "I give you five years and you will have ran it into the ground and put back up for sale". I guess a marine mechanic and boat shop owner knew what he was talking about after 35 years of experience.
I will keep my intruder till i cant find parts anymore. Not to worried about it right now. To many of them for parts distinction right now. Dam good motors. Plus the aftermarket helps
This is music to my ears after being fooled by their 10yr warranty!!!🎉🎉🎉 Never purchasing another product any way shape or form related to a BRP PRODUCT
I’ve a G1 and I’ve already learned to work on the majority of it myself. I’ve rebuilt the lower end complete as well as changed the VST, fuel pump and capacitor because we’ve no one around to service or fix them in a timely manner. Stinks if I’m thousands in and won’t even be able to get the parts anymore.
My 16 G1 150 HO has been great, all I've had to do so far is an impeller. Will be doing the filter soon. Yeah sucks if parts become unavailable. Hopefully she lasts another 10-15 years, then I'm getting a Yamaha.
Had an evenrude and sold it as soon as the company stopped making them. I figured sell it before everyone realizes they are going to just be paper weights. I wasn't going to even think about repowering an older boat.
No underboard here, wish they would have gone back to G1 etec and kept it simple....I just bought a 2011 G1 Etec 250hp to replace my 2004 Ficht that was all but a G1 etec....and happy to find it......
Hey Andy and Team. Another great video. This is Bad and Good News. The Bad was, My wife and I figured BRP was going to Fail with the Underboard when we seen the Videos on them , Bad Designs ! The Good news Maybe if they Sell All of the Marine, Boats and Evinrude and Johnson, Maybe there's Hope After all ?
I don't think it will happen but I hope it does. The designs are good it just needs a good company with quality parts. Everything Bombardier touches goes to crap, sold off or closed.
Here's the REAL DEAL....... The day that computers got installed into cars, trucks, and outboard motors...... That's the day that everything started getting ridiculous. And the average lifespan of those things started going to shit.
I was considering it until I watched your video last year. 😂😂😂 Literally googled this engine because there wasn't a lot of information out except for this channel. 😂😂😂
I work on these every day at marine shop Here in northwest Louisiana. Its a blessing that they are going away. We Have five for sale on the lot right now. They will just sit now. Weve got 5 out there on the water, Constantly braking. From leaky toons to water exhaust codes randomly popping up and having to calibrate the ECM’s has been ridiculous. I just hope we can get parts for the customers we have!
I got a email saying they still plan on producing the Rotax outboard. It’s actually really nice on a Manitou . The Alumacraft doesn’t m as me sense though.
I think it's great news over all, it will get these companies into better hands. We can only hope whoever buys the companies makes them better. Hopefully the new owner does flush the underboard down the drain and not try to re-release like it's some great thing with AI in it.
Just to be clear BRP is not selling the Rotax outboard. They would be crazy to sell the E-Tec technology. The G2 power head is extremely powerful, fuel efficient. And reliable. It’s by far the best 2 stroke outboard ever designed. Hopefully it continues forward with BRP in some shape or form.
If evinrude goes with it, it’d be a heck of a scoop up for white river marine But it’s ridiculous to see how much alumacraft customer service tanked. Everyone’s buying ranger and Lund instead
I was just at my local boat dealer last week. ALL of their Manitous were GONE! Trucks came take all of them away that had the underboard. I knew something was up.
Whomever buys the boat companies should also force the Evinrude and Johnson names or be sold with them, then contract Suzuki to produce the engines, with the Evinrude and Johnson names to place on the boats.
BRP still plans on producing the Rotax outboard. And find manufacturers to put it on there boats. Also the Canadian Government did not give BRP powersports division money. They gave it to the aviation and locomotive side which is totally different. By the way the last rendition of a G2 is fantastic! I
I have a 2007 75 hp ETEC on a bass tracker TXW 175 and so far it works perfectly fine. Haven’t had to do a thing other than regular maintenance. Very smooth running motor - so far🤞🤞
Appears you know a considerable amount of the internal workings of this division. You have any idea how long the G2 74° was in production before they got the pistons fit correct?
I would say take all the Underboard units, prints and tooling and throw into Lake Michigan but that would be considered Littering..... I guess Garbage is supposed to go to the Landfill... Thanks.
I don't get it. Was the whole idea of that pos rotax just to extend the back deck? Reminds me of the old failed Bayliner/Force campaign back in the 80's
Imagine that - the underwater motor that BRP touted as the "latest advancement in marine propulsion" turned out (as expected) to be a big turd. Who woulda thunk it??
What's gonna happen with Alumacraft? I just bought one this year! I told them to make the pontoons on the back an option or add a horizontal ladder because the pontoons don't allow you to add 2 accessories, only one such as 2 Power Poles or 1 Power Pole and 1 kicker.
I'm a Canadian taxpayer. I'm not expecting anything back from this sale. The government will probably send us an invoice or tax hike on top of this sale!!!!
BRP Leadership, Underboard, Parts, Suxs Period! Sold my G1 when they announced they were doing away with the outboard division. They are nothing but a money pit.
300 mill investment for the properties , sad but that is how many buis, are working these days , borrow to buy for future sale , they invested nothing in evinrude just run it into the ground.
Bombardier makes great aircraft but, when they decided to buy OMC it has been one failure after another. I don’t believe Bombardier ever thought much about about the outboard division as their entire focus has been on the total engine and how they could manipulate that part of the market with Seadoo and Skidoo.
Let's be honest here, BRP only bought Evinrude for their personal water crafts and snowmobiles. From what I'm seeing, they tried to become the next white river marine with alumacraft amd manitu but failed miserably.
Well this should tell you something. BRP is not even number 1 in snow mobiles ( and yes I know it pisses you snow machines owner off when I call it that) however they aren’t number one, I think they are like number 3. They can’t even get that right. I hope someone buys the J/E name.
I'm surprised they lasted this long. That was the stupidest design I've ever seen. Who in they're right mind thought that underboard would EVER work.. 🤦♂️

Earlier this summer I was so close on buying an Alumacraft but that God I found a Ranger that I fell in love with.
Watching Andy bringing a video on a Friday is the best thing.
We need to start a bring back Evinrude campaign
So so so happy i listened to your videos about brp this spring and ditched my etec. Bought a suzuki tiller and couldnt be happier
