Have you looked at other replacement head units? I see a growing number of them. The greatest concern is compatibility. I don't want to lose any features, only gain Android Auto and other features.
I saw a few ones that were a lot cheaper, but they come with compatibility issues. Even this one has some; like the dynamic compass no longer working (not sure if it will work in your case). Otherwise it keeps all other functions and adds more functions
I used a plastic pry tool to remove the silver trim piece (metal tools leave scratches). For the AC vents, just pull them loose by hand, they are only held by bezel clips. The pry tool is used to remove the air bag status monitor (also held by clips). Then you need a 10mm socket with an extension to remove the 4 bolts that secure the radio to the frame
Is the radio compatible with the dashboard for the small display on the screen and does the display for the battery hybrid function still work? The tank and remaining liter display also work with it?
Really like your videos! I purchased parts to add ambient lighting to my 2017. I am hoping I can just tie into the center console ambient light with a pigtail, have you thought about doing this?

Seems like too much money and work when the manufacturers need to just make these adjustable on a pivotable head. ...
