Debating this one hard. Both have their ups and downs. Defender very plastic-y, GX built like a lightweight beer can. GX test drive for me didn't go well, lots of vibration (OT+) and regardless what you say about KDSS, there was significant body roll. I like the simplicity of the Lexus, and is a likely better value proposition, but the Defender is way more fun to drive and just has more style.
My impression was opposite. GX is really plasticity compared to Defender. Because for the GX price range, you can choose HSE trim and it comes with lots of leather and the interior is just beautiful. GX interior looks really cheap. in terms of driving, I have same opinion. GX has too many vibrations and far from luxury driving. Defender with air suspension is just amazing.
Not true anymore! The coolant reservoir takes holy water now, so you’ll have God preventing your landrover from breaking down. There’s also a small compartment for a special rabbit’s foot that you can purchase at the dealership.
@@mark6000 there’s a 4 leaf clover special edition…practically a tank! You have to ask for it since it’s not advertised. But it’s a step up from the autobiography. Dealerships keep these ones in the basement. You basically get a leprechaun slave who chauffeurs you. Only the 1%ers know about this. Only reason I know is from a q-drop.
Congrats… I’m seriously cross shopping the e450 AT wagon against the gx550 & Defender 110. Love the simplicity of GX… but according to some the handling is to soft. I figured I’ll swap in stiffer springs but the fuel mileage is so low. Plus the seats seems sort of bland. The defender is just poor quality. Everyone complains about issues. Plus the screen is slow even when it’s new. Can’t imagine how slow it’ll get after using for year or two. On the other e450 AT is about the same price as the GX550 OT+, way better mpg, handling, 0-60. Only thing holding me back is the higher TCO, wish it looked a little less refined.
Reminds me of this one LR owner who bragged about having to pay thousands per year in repairs. He told me you have to spend good money to “maintain” a landrover. Said that I was the cheap one for owning a Lexus and Volvo 🥴
Interesting what you said about the Defender swing-gate. I’m pretty sure you spoke negatively about the swing-gate on older Lexus GX models 😊 but say the barn doors are NOW cool on Rover & Grenadier.
I'm a Toyota guy. Last 4 trucks were Toyotas. Love them. Thought for sure I'd get the GX. Test drove both of these. Defender was way better. More power, smoother, more refined, more comfortable, more luxurious. GX was very bulky, especially the hood. Defender all the way
Way off, the GX Overtrail is nicer looking than the Defender, especially from the front. Its also better looking than the current LC model with the round lights. The LC with the square lights is a looker too, but still would pick the GX OT, over the Defender and LC... Looks and EkDSS with a Lexus Badge... no brainer GX for the win, especially over the Defender. That air suspension always goes plop! Will leave that SUV stuck in squat position, never fails, that air suspensions on Land Rovers fail. Also they claim to have 11 Inches of GC on the Defender, anyone who has seen one from behind knows that underbody of the SUV looks like its on the ground, when in normal ride height, it looks like go cart on the ground...lol
Yo Ben, why you comparing an extremely trail focused GX to Rover. GX has more luxurious trims, but maybe you didn’t have access to them? I know new GX is hard to come by. Both vehicles look great. A GX will never be the most luxurious, quickest or most fuel-efficient, but for people that actually PURCHASE a vehicle & keep more than a couple years, Lexus GX is a no-brainer.

I like the seat colors in the Lexus. I wish some of that color made it to the door panels. All black interiors got very old a decade ago.
You have to buy both ,cause you know Land Rover will be either in the repair shop or on the way to that shop 😂

Friends don’t let friends by Land Rovers
After watching all your videos for the past 6 months and test driving the vehicles I liked I finally got the E450 wagon in my garage … amazing
Congrats… I’m seriously cross shopping the e450 AT wagon against the gx550 & Defender 110.

Ill make it simple
Land rover = unreliable
Lexus = reliable
Yeah, I’m okay with my old reliable 140k mile GX470 that cost me 1/10th of those 😂. A 20 year old Land Rover on the other hand… good luck.
Time will tell with reliability v6 of the Lexus... I would say even playing field now
😂😅
Yeah that is a simpleton outlook.

Said that I was the cheap one for owning a Lexus and Volvo 🥴
Having disconnecting sway bars and manual lockers on the GX is a pretty significant advantage in capability. Towing capacity on the GX is also higher.
One is a forever-car purchase
The other is a worry free lease, if it breaks down no sweat.

Agreed. I'm starting to see a real bias by a LC owner that might be butthurt that the GX was a much better buy.
Lexus GX550 OverTrail Plus will Out Perform Land Rover Defender... Lexus for the WIN!!!
Toyota Vs Jaguar

@@fxtrdr4 yeah but….for how long bro 🤣
Just get the defender and get rid of the Lexus
I like the defender
I rather get Lexus for daily drive. Land Rover for weekend.
Damn how did you age up in 3 videos?????
Seed oils
I don’t eat seed oils. I just look older with more hair and beard.
The Defender looks like it’s dated by 20 years.
The Defender will stay looking great, Lexus is outdated in 2 years
Well if you want some equity at the end of five years stick with the Lexus and side by side Lexus looks way better the Land Rover looks dated
saludos! siempre Lexus mejor que LAN Rover MUCHAS! lFallas! de transmisión suspensión ect.... saludos!
muchísimas gracias!
In actual comparison, done by C&D the Land Rover wins.

I’d take the Lexus looks better and more reliable
Defender

Defender knowing Toyota is junk and unreliable now😂
Uh hyuk, darn tootin!
Yer such a smrt feller.
Rugged look not for Rugged used 🫡
