    Looks better than the original. Smashing! Those stickers were excellent but clearly the amazing bit for me was the custom windscreens. I was particularly impressed by the cartoon accurate one. Fantastic!!!

    I used to have a couple MASK toys when I was little. This was one of ‘em! Ah, nostalgia…

    The Condor has a soft spot in my heart as it was the one and only M.A.S.K. toy I ever had as a kid. It was the later version with the bigger mask which I found really annoying back then so I actually cut off the extra parts using a box cutter. Another method I can think of is making mold of the windshield and then vacuuforming new ones out of dark translucent plastic.

      The Condor was the only one I had as well! It was one of the few toys I was allowed to get for my birthday that year. I still have it and Brad Turner…and the mask too…haha…

    LOVED this toy as a kid, and luckily mine hasn't really broken or lost any stickers over the years. It's so vibrant and colourful for a kid's eyes and the sleek 80s bike looks so cool too. I used to also pretend that this figure was Marty McFly (wearing the yellow radiation suit) and would put him in the Raven car I had. Sadly I never had the car with the gull-wing doors like the DeLorean so I had to make do with my reverse gull-wing doors. 🤣

    I always figured Condor was a maxi-scooter rather than a motorcycle. Brad Turner doesn't sit astride it; his feet are together in some kind of foot well, which is more akin to large scooters. Contrast this with, say, Vampire, which Floyd Malloy rides with his legs on either side of the bike. Strangely, Series 3's Bullet is clearly meant to be a racing motorcycle, but is also ridden with legs INboard.

    Polycarbonate is hard to stick to for normal paint, but Tamiya also has a special line for it. You'll want to look for ths PS series instead of the TS series. I think PS31 specifically for smoke.

    Awesome tutorial going to try it out when I get the materials btw I have another suggestion to restoration video its for the Venom Iguana the front plastic part that house the saw blade part will deteriorate overtime mine has started crumbling away My guess the plastic use in it is not as good as its main body. Anyway, all the videos you posted really inspire me to give life to my old childhood toys😊😊😊

    Have you thought about dyeing the clear polycarbonate using black RIT dye? Depending how long you leave the windscreen in the dye solution you can get different levels of darkness, and the color should be fairly uniform.

  • @veiledrecalcitrance4314
    @veiledrecalcitrance4314 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it would look good with a more domed windscreen (like modern street bikes), plus it would probably be much easier to make, a lot less Plastiweld and fitting parts together, just the pieces to hold it in the bike nose, and you could easily do it with a clear polycarbonate. Just an idea

    As I was looking at your work filing and shaping the piece, I started to wonder how it would look of you added micromesh to the polishing of this pieces to give them a high gloss finish without using spray.

    Fantastic job as always! Have you ever considered making a mold of the windscreen and casting a copy with tinted resin for a more transparent look closer to the original?

    • @peterjf7723
      @peterjf7723 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be able to make the windscreen in one piece of plastic by vacuum forming. You could then use clear plastic or tinted plastic.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. I didn't have an original windscreen, so making one was the only option. And I think many other people will be in the same position. And that's what I try to show in my videos, if you have one to copy, go for it. But I think many people won't and will need to make something from scratch.

    dave is there a video in which you discuss printer options such as color laser vs inkjet? do inkjet printed stickers ‘bleed’ if they get wet? I see people re-carding figures & so on, I always wonder what printers they use

    • @peterjf7723
      @peterjf7723 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get water slide decal paper, it comes with an acrylic sealant that you paint over your image to stop the ink running.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a cheap inkjet printer for all my work. And have no experience of others as they are often expensive. With inkjet you can spray them with a lacquer. You'll see me do that depending on the project.

    Hello Dave. I've always loved the MASK toy vehicles. The whole gimmick about vehicles transforming into other vehicle modes is still fascinating to me. It wasn't as popular as MOTU, Gi.Joe nor Star Wars but it's still amazing to me. I have had many of this collecting pieces, but for financial reasons, I have sold them. Now, slowly, I'm trying to acquire them again. I have a Jackhammer that needs the wheels fixed or replaced. It needs some love. How do I fix the wheels and if not, where to look for replacements? Thank you for another awesome video Dave. Looking forward to more vids. Cheers!

    The orange peel look of the paint really takes away from the hard work you did. Tip: bring some water to a slight boil, turn off the heat then place the rattle can in the water for about 2 minutes. Shake well, use light coats instead of piling. The heat will thin the paint and repressurize the can. You could also use glossy black bare metal foil.
