I just know Evan Peters has been keeping his therapist busy after this role. He said in the past a lot of the roles he had on American Horror Story took a mental toll on him so playing Dahmer had to be 1,000 times more hectic.
I was so concerned for him when I heard he was doing this because of how affected he was during the Cult season (which I get, playing that many cult leaders). Hopefully he takes some time for himself to shed Dahmer's impact.

It’s called Hybristophilia, a clinical sexual attraction to criminals. I’ve met a few in true crime groups. One girl didn’t realize how creepy it was, but another knew what it was, was diagnosed, and knew how to keep it in check.
I think they would feel alot different about it of one of them if one of those sickos committed Hybristocide. 🤔

I can tell you the fan mail to serial killers is very haunting. I'm a crime scene tech and when I was in the CS academy there was a girl in it with me who was obsessed with serial killers.. not in the true crime is fascinating sense. She constantly made things awkward in class bc she would admit to fantasizing about them. That they consumed her thoughts. One day someone was presenting their paper on the night stalker Richard Ramirez and she ended it by talking about his fan mail. This was in 2008 by the way, before he died. She briefly gave the fan mail address and the way that girl perked up to write it down.. talk about feeling awkward! She clamored for something to write it on and made her repeat the address 2 times! Now when you're going thru the crime scene program, you're immediately shown all kinds of CS pics and videos. It's the start of our desensitization process by seeing the worst of the worst. Needless to say I became very cold and detached from the macabre which is exactly what a CSI should be. And to think that girl and her obsession with serial killers made me feel uncomfortable should tell you something about her 🤯

I'm pretty sure he pissed everyone off on purpose. He was miserable in prison, despite the fan mails he was getting. He was depressed and was having family drama, he told so in a letter to a fan in 94, the year he died. He wanted to get attacked and found relief when he was finally killed. It was what he wanted in the end, and psychologist are very certain he would've ended up taking his own life eventually if he wasn't killed.

@@melanie.vallejo I couldn't tell you specifically, but I'll post what he wrote himself. He writes to a fan named Mary in 94: "Mary, I'm going to keep this letter short because I'm having a lot of family trouble at the moment and I'm very depressed about it".
And then another one to the same person: "You are right. I am very depressed, so I don't have many interests these days. I really am not able to open up new worlds for anyone because mine has completely collapsed in on itself, sorry."
But after watching the Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes I also believe it was because he was so lonely not being able to interact with other people and constantly being in isolation.
@@elshootingstar Man this is so sad to hear about Jeffrey, I agree his parents weren’t really there for him especially his mom. I think he just didn’t know how to cope with himself being so isolated from the world and his family not being present in his life in some ways. I still don’t excuse what he did to his victims and the poor victims families, how they felt knowing that their loved ones were mutilated and eaten by a serial killer. I endured some trauma as a child and even as an adult but I never once thought to mistreat someone much less murder or dismember someone. Although I almost felt sorry for Jeff in what he had gone through, I still feel more sorry for those victims families. I bet they were never the same after that incident. All parties as far as Jeff’s parents and his brother and those victims families were all suffering from what he did. Back in those times in the 70’s and 80’s people didn’t recognize abnormal behaviors or tendencies of a serial killer, of course times have changed over the years as we acknowledge more of the red flags and abnormal tendencies of people a lot more evidently now but back in those times, it was different not that I’m trying to excuse what the justice system did or what Jeff did but man this docuseries has made me cry a few times. Coming from a woman that has endured a lot of pain from traumatic events, I rarely cry and people have told me I rarely show emotions so when I finished this docuseries, I was in tears especially Rita’s testimony when she was yelling at Dahmer in the courtroom. I will never forget that and I know my words are meaningless to her or to the victims families but I truly send my love and condolences to them❤️
@@melanie.vallejo Why wouldn't he have been depressed? He was in prison it's not known for being a happy place. I think what added to his depression was that he didn't have access to alcohol and being sober forced him to deal with what he'd done and the reality of his situation.

Maybe the reason why Jeffrey was lying was because he was looking for sympathy probably idk, but Lionel never said about him having family drama with Jeff before his death

I am an avid autograph collector, and I have known about this thing called “murder-abilia”, where for whatever twisted reason, folks want to collect memorabilia from famous serial killers, mafia bosses, gang leaders, and other crime lords for the sole purpose of selling it for big money later. Everyone from Dahmer to Gacy, from Gotti to O.J., all got fan mail requesting autographs, paintings, drawings, response letters, etc. Look it up. It’s wild!
A memorial park was never put there it's just an empty plot unfortunately 😔 r.i.p to all those 17 victims 💔

In real life Jeffrey Dahmer was never flaunting and taunting people like that in prison lol. He was in a single cell away from everyone up until he decided that he should transfer into the normal part of the prison. Didn't take long for him to get murdered after that, and he knew it would happen and wanted it to happen. But yeah all the cocky weird behavior and caring about fan-mail is all just dramatized for the show lol.

There’s a guy on TH-cam that collects fan letters sent to Jeffrey Dahmer. He even has his glasses and a spatula that he owned.
Everything for the cloud. But as someone outside from the US I was even shocked that they really made gift cards with his face or comic books. This wouldn't be even legal here for obvious reasons.
Considering how people idolize serial killers no a memorial would NOT be a good idea. They bulldozed Gaceys home too, its just an enpty lot. I think to futher prevent truama they need to keep no memorials. I mean thankfully the one in my state for Columbine High School has remained respected fun fact, I was actually going to that high school with my elementary school for a big brother reading program that day but the shooting happened first and we locked down instead of leaving to anywhere. But no, I don't think a memorial should be put up in that area, the ground needs to remain bare. They could do something somewhere else for his victims though.
that doesn’t seem fair considering shows/movies about serial killers like this come out like every single year which ppl can use to idolize the killers. how are these shows preventing further trauma?? they are NOT ; including this very show in which some of the family members of dahmers victims have come out recently and said this show brought back tragic memories and retraumatized them. so a small little memorial dedicated to the victims isn’t gonna do nearly as much harm as these shows do

In the end,Dahmer made his peace with God. He knew he had to die. We cant forgive him because the damage and anguish he has caused is unforgivable but we can understand and learn what brought him to the things he did.
Fuuuuuck him, it's easy to forgive yourself when you can't hear God's name. I hope when he met his maker, he remembered what fear was.
