    How to Make a Forged Carbon Fiber Table Top [DIY] (Forged Carbon Fiber Skinning)
    How to Skin Forged Carbon Fiber
    Making a Forged Carbon Fiber Table Top
    Hi guys~
    Recently, many people are asking me to sell carbon fiber.
    I am not a carbon fiber seller.
    And also, I am not a carbon fiber expert.
    I just like carbon fiber.
    I study carbon fiber myself and do various tests.
    My knowledge may not be perfect, but I would like to share my knowledge with many people.
    If you are a carbon fiber expert, It be grateful if you could give me some advice.
    I am asked a lot about the purchase of carbon fiber materials.
    I bought materials from a South Korean online shop.
    However, Korean online shops do not ship overseas.
    So I'm going to show you an online shop in the UK.
    You can find what you want.
    Please enjoy the video.
    Thank you.

    Pro tip for ya: When working with MDF, use a sanding sealer on all the surfaces. It’s cheap, and it doesn’t change its shape or properties, but it does “seal” it when pouring resins or epoxies or even painting it. It’s very easy to use, dries fast, and once keyed, provides the same adhesion as the raw MDF in my opinion.
    Love the channel!

One question regarding the finishing, on this video I see you sanded and then used a cutting compound to get the high gloss shine but I have seen in other videos after sanding people apply 2k clear lacquer. Question is which more durable and better for car interior pieces, sanding and then cutting and buffing the epoxy resin or sanding the then applying the 2k lacquer?

    • @Lolatyou332
      @Lolatyou332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is what I've been planning on doing. Only problem is that it limits where you can screw it and you will also need to apply carbon fiber to the bottom of the table. You will have to create a mechanical lock or use glue to allow screws to be used.

    • @vocks85
      @vocks85 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Lolatyou332
      @Lolatyou332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vocks85 best case, you would install a metal nut that would be mechanically locked when the carbon fiber is hardened.
      Most feasible case is just to use rivet nuts as it would make a mechanical lock. The rivet nut becomes a potential failure point, but in reality, furniture really doesn't need that level of strength.

      You can either buy coloured weave or tint the final clear coat

    ECO-LAP Studio -I just subscribed you have great content! I have a question, is the epoxy that you use for the topcoat different then the base layers? Also what is the brand you use?

      Hello, Buddy!
      The two epoxy resins are different epoxy resins.
      Originally, the top coat resin I used was very transparent, but it seemed to be discolored.
      However, I checked that the topcoat epoxy resin turns into a transparent color when cured. ^^

    Looks great! Any chance you could do carbon fibre flappy paddle extensions? I would love to make some to go over my existing paddles but I wouldn’t know where to start!

      Hello, Buddy!
      I appreciate your comment.
      I can't make a shift paddle right away because I have a lot of other work right now.
      But if I get a chance, I'll try
      Thank you for watching.

      ECO-LAP Studio Thanks for your reply and your hard work! What would be the best way to make something 3-dimensional out of CF? I don’t want it to be hollow...! Just lots of layers? Or skin a piece of wood perhaps?

    • @ECOLAPStudio
      @ECOLAPStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zakeywak Filling it all with carbon fiber is expensive.
      I recommend using a core mat or printing to a 3D printer and skinning.
      If you have a 3D printer, you can try a lot of things.

    Hey man, love the channel and all the amazing carbon work you do. I found your channel and I loved the videos so much I bought some red reflections carbon fiber for some interior pieces on my car. This is the first carbon fiber work I’ll ever be doing and I was wondering if I can use spray adhesive instead of using epoxy gel coat? And if anyone has any tips for me as a beginner that would be awesome! Thanks!

      Do you mean the cloth he layed over the carbonfiber? If yes its called peel ply. It is used to remove excess air form the cf infusion. Im not sure if it is needed in this case though.

    안녕하세요. 궁금한게 있어가지구요.
    유명 자동차 브랜드에서도 포지드카본 파츠들을 많이 내어놓잖아요?
    그럼, 그 카본 파츠들도 이렇게 영상처럼 카본(파이버)천을 잘게(?) 잘라서 사용해 만드나요?

      자동차 메이커에서 이렇게 번거로운 작업을 하지는 않습니다 ^^
      포지드 카본도 우리가 흔히 보는 능직, 평직 카본 원사가 있습니다.
      압착된 형태의 카본 원단이라고 생각하시면 됩니다. ^^
