    For all those who are thinking of taking one of the Meta Professional Developer Certifications. I've been enrolled in the Back-End course for the last two months. I'm on the 5th (Django Framework) course of 10. Here's my take so far, the course material and instructors have been of top quality. The videos and reading material are well put together, being a self taught developer I had some fundamental knowledge gaps that these courses filled. Such as data structures, algorithms and CI/CD to name a few. I also appreciate the quizzes and labs associated with most of the courses. However, as of about two weeks ago Meta has been slow to roll out the remaining courses . From my understanding Meta hadn't fully completed all the courses, at least for the Back-End Developer Cert that I'm enrolled in. That's a little disappointing for me because I was on track to complete all 10 courses in 3-4 months. The recommended time frame is 7 months at 4 hours a week. I was doing 2-4 hours a day. Hope this helps anyone thinking about these certs.

      Hey man, appreciate your take on it. Do you think this course will be enough to land a entry/junior level job? Im thinking of doing front end and looking for the web development career route.

      @cjwilliams9790 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@naimahmed3720 I do believe you will gain the skills necessary for an entry/junior roles in Web Dev if you take Meta's Front-End Developer Pro Cert. Having a recognized cert is a big plus, However that's not the only thing you'll need. If I were you, while your taking the Front-End courses, start building your portfolio site and build a few simple Front-End projects. You will have fun and build the hands-on skills thats needed along with the core understanding from the Meta courses. There's plenty of tutorials you can follow on TH-cam that will help.

    Sir, to be honest, I find your explanation and blue prints much more easier to understand than the coursera certifications. When I was a beginner to coding, I had taken several certificates from there but out there nobody explains with the intention to teach absolute beginners...My profs there were all PhD levels and it was hard to reach upto them when I knew nothing. That was the reason I stopped doing lessons from there and moved to youTube and other platforms . That's also the reason I started teaching beginners to teach myself 😀😃

Im sure it will take some more practice with personal projects etc after you have completed these to be 100% job ready but from what im seeing it seems like by the end you should be around 70% there if not more.

      @@t6hp Right. I'm really wondering how it works though. Are these employers ONLY looking for people on this specific job board? I can't see that being a possibility so I can't imagine it being that much better than looking for jobs on linkedIn or some other job searching site.

    I am officially enrolled for the Meta backend Professional Course. I started yesterday and 2 months ago I was doubtful but now I think it was the best decision I made. The course is well structured and while watching videos they test you with minor questions. At the moment I am on week 2 of the first section and everything is super easy since I had been learning JavaScript for 2 months now. BUT, I know the deeper I go the harder it will get become, I am going to try and prepare for this. At first I was hesitant because they were using Python for the backend? I was saying to myself this isn't the industry standard for backend web development? Python is recognized for Data Science and eveen DevOps with AWS. BUT I take that back, after watching your video on the topics covered with Python it now makes sense.
    Thanks for sharing this video.!!!

    • @cjwilliams9790
      @cjwilliams9790 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrSirmay1 Don’t underestimate learning Python is so much more than data science and DevOps. BTW, DevOps is just a process of many things put together. Good luck with the Backend course, I’m on course 6, week 3 of APIs. Overall it’s been a great certification and learning experience.

      @@DevlogBill your welcome, since your in the backend side of things, I would suggest getting really familiar with Python and Linux command line. @@ReadThis_ the python section in meta course is not for beginners though, it says it is but it's not, the module exercises are very difficult for a newbie programmer + you need to read yourself from the resources they provide since the videos are surface level only not in depth, that is why they provide additional reading links. I am sorry for disagreeing but codacademy is pretty bad, it's extremely easy when I first started to learn how to code I did codacademy python section complete in 1 day along with projects and exercises
