At 50 yrs this coming June, I regret not doing this exact same thing...granted I Raised my kids in a beautiful 50 acre farm in Virginia and traveled everywhere as a family with our 2 kids. They are now both headed into college this year. we am planning to buy a boat next year. This would have been so much fun to do when they were smaller. We did live in Spain for 6 months and I see now how much it grounded my kids. May ya'll travel safe and love life!!!!!
Just started to watch your channel and thank you 🙏 so much for allowing me to so enjoy 😊 a little bit of your lifestyle and adventures. Must say that you did a terrific job on your reclaimed 80 foot sale boat. I look forward to watching your videos in the future. You made it happen your way and for that I am sure you are so proud. I am going straight away to subscribe and hit the notification bell. Thanks 🙏 again.
can you talk about how it is to sail such a large yacht with a small family crew - when most people are on boats maybe half this length and less than a quarter of the volume? how does it work with that powerful sail plan? I assume there are times when really short handed?
Thank you ☺️ When they were little I put together their own curriculum but now they are doing correspondence school. We are big fans of showing them a different way of life but we feel equally strong about education 😉
A beautiful and rewarding life for your children growing up with no constraints of modern day life or the hassle that comes with it , as a retired economist I envy you all, have a good life , how do you manage to home school is that your department or your husband’s ?
Thank you so much ☺️ I have always been the main teacher and Pete takes on the headmaster role 😂 for the last few years though we’ve been using a correspondence school so the kids have their own set of teachers and I am the supervisor. It’s a really great way to homeschool the teenage years and the more intense subjects that comes with it.
Very intriguing to refit a racing boat as you did. What background do you both have that enabled you to tackle such a project? It is a stunning boat, and seems to be a very well thought out design to balance your needs within the design of the boat. Does it still maintain good performance characteristics with the changes made?
ryan walsh Pete is a boatbuilder which made the project possible 😉 We’ve been sailing her for two seasons and she’s beautiful to sail and the keel modification works well!
What I can never understand is where people get the money from. A friend of mine does this and says it costs around 25K per year to live, for two of them. Hopping between the Islands and NZ. $500 a week rental property thats mortgage free, may cover it, then you’ve got to have the money for a boat as well...
What a Awesome way to Raise Kids these Days and Teach them on The Great Things of Life. Sir you have Done a Super awesome job restoring Her. How Much is Rent and I will be A Deckhand to wash the Deck and Wax her as your a Family play. God Bless you sir and Family. Bet she Very Fast ever thought to Come to America and see how Down hill we are becoming ? lol. Well next video to watch. Bye. Greg
Thank you ☺️ Yes we think it’s quite a different upbringing and is certainly teaching some life skills that aren’t taught at school. No plans at this stage to leave the South Pacific but then in this life plans are written in the sand…you never know where the wind might blow us next 😉
Wow, it sounds like you got a free boat. What a score! That's a dream of a lifetime right there! How were you able to afford the refit at such a young age? All I've been doing is working and working and not really getting ahead it seems like. I'm a carpenter and have a partially built debt free home but I've never been on a vacation. I'm getting burnt out and need a change of life like your living. I'm going to sell my home when done and get a boat so that I can travel the tropics.
It certainly wasn‘t ‘free’ but yes, it was the opportunity of a lifetime to us. We’ve managed to live this lifestyle for as long as we have by working extremely hard for 6 months of the year and spending as little as possible for the other 6 months of the year. We do all our maintenance etc ourselves and we don’t desire a lot. We spend our money on provisions and boat parts, others see hair dressers, wear labelled clothing and go party. That’s never been our goal in life. It’s been work to live not live to work which means not trying to ‘keep up with the Jones’s’ but choosing to spend our money on living the dream 😉
You both did an incredible job redoing that beautiful big girl....!😊🤗💖👍
Thank you 😊
Great story and very well told.😀👍⛵️

Pls tell us more about performance of Boat
Stunning yacht; great job on the the refit. I am curious; why is she registered in Hull (my hometown)?
Thank you! We kept her UK registration and Hull was her registered home port so we kept it that way 😉
@@Camarasailing if you haven’t been, ignore the hype, it’s a great city with amongst other things fantastic fish and chips 👍

Well, that certainly makes all the difference in the world!
Hi nice sailboat and show keep it going :) Did you own a sailboat before?
Mark De Kwant yes we did. For 16 years we sailed/cruised on our 42ft steel yacht. Have had this boat since 2015 😉

FAB Manly work hard half the year, desire very little else. There’s people spending in a month cruising what we spend in a season 😉

Although the canned music track is somewhat annoying.
Not that many windows😂
21 (hatches, portholes, Windows) is enough for us 😉
