My mom gave a good point a while ago, a relationship of any sorts with a comedian is hard. They rarely know when to switch it off and can come off as rude or insensitive or condescending when they don’t intend to. I don’t know what sort of person Ellen is I’ve never met her, but I take it all with a grain of salt and that not everyone may interpret her actions the way she intends them to be.
Also one person in a relationship wanting the other to switch jobs that are demanding is very common in relationships. My mom hated that my dad traveled a lot even though he loved his job. You’re allowed to want your partner to switch jobs and they’re allowed to not do it. It’s life. You don’t have to agree with you partner on everything

Betty Hilborn my husband stopped wearing his wedding band many years ago, we are still married. Also he said because of his job. I didn’t wear mine for years. Also as medical staff I didn’t want to loose it. But I know couples that didn’t wear their wedding band shortly after their wedding and not for work reason.

So Portia should just be herself without fears. This is observation only of course.
