    I’d love to see Scania enter the North American Class 8 market wide open. Volvo is the first or second largest Class 8 truck manufacturer in the North American market. Their VNL 760 and 860 are good trucks with a smooth ride and a helluva power plant.
    I’m in a 2021 International LT with a 625 hp Cummins ISX 15. It does pretty good and rides better than the Freightliner i did have.

      @Stian Myrdal Laursen Umm, Scania makes trucks with one of the best, if not the best quality of the industry, so i don't get what you're saying..

    • @marcoslopez8890
      @marcoslopez8890 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Stian Myrdal Laursen Again, i don't really get what you're saying, they invest in marketing, obviously, but it's just ridiculous to think that the 2 billion euros they invested in the development of the new generation is exclusively for marketing, are you really going to ignore the fact that they destroyed over 40 trucks in crash test? isn't that quality? Literally every trucker i know prefers Scania over any other brand, i don't think they're all wrong. My dad drove Scania for 12 years, all the generations except the newest one, and he had nothing but good thing to say about it, in terms of comfort, technology, and safety. And i've been in them myself and i have nothing to complain about, i've been in a lot of trucks in my life, but you can actually tell that the difference between a normal truck and a Scania R580 is pretty important. You can have whatever opinion you want, but not not for nothing Scania is know as "King of the road"

    • @marcoslopez8890
      @marcoslopez8890 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Stian Myrdal Laursen Scania has nothing to envy to any other truck in the world, as i said before you can say anything you want but, it won't change the fact that Scania is one of the best selling trucks in the world, if it's so bad as you say, then why do people buy it so much? And stoneage technology? Pretty fun you don't say anything about the other brands, that are still making manual trucks in 2019...

  • @hereintranzit
    @hereintranzit 8 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    There's no doubt in my mind that Scania produces the very best in the world commercial vehicles of all sorts, including heavy haul on black top and dirt roads applications. Scania is for the commercial trucks world what Tatra is for high mobility tactical military trucks. It simply can not be beaten! If Scania will ever consider building the "Longline" and "semi-longline" cabs for the market outside of Europe and offer more space in the sleeper, the R Scania will be the truck that every driver in the world will desire and dream of driving. If Scania will also maintain the reliability reputation, then it will be the number one truck sought by the carrier owners and owner-drivers everywhere this truck is offered on the market. Too bad that we can't get Scania trucks in the USA and Canada because of the Crony politics here in Amerika!!!

    • @Len_M.
      @Len_M. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The conventional Scania is a sexy truck. I'm not sure what it's called or if that is what you are talking about, but I think it would do well here in Canada and the US. It would nice to have cab-over trucks like this and the KW 200 here again too.

    • @heuhen
      @heuhen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There was have been a version of Scania in the European marked with bonneted truck, often called Scania T (T-series) but it was taken out of production in 2005, mainly due to engine was starting to be so reliable, that constant lifting up the bonnet wasn't needed anymore.
      There exist some Longline version of Scania, but they are mainly modified but different companies that do that type of work. that type of company, is something the Australian market should have. Someone that can modifie Scania trucks after approved design... make it more easy to get it accepted by any control-organe-politics-police-etc.

    • @MylanPS3
      @MylanPS3 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hereintranzit If Scania would restart the production of the T-series, and combine them with a Longline, that would be great! Those trucks are beautiful! In that way they would be able to survive at the North American market too :-)

      They are to heavy for the American market. Look at the Volvo trucks sold in the US. Different everything, frame, axels and so on.. Only to get them light enough for US. They are sold in big numbers in parts of the world that have heavier trucks.

    • @BluTrollPro
      @BluTrollPro 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, PACCAR (Peterbilt, Kenworth, DAF) create imo the best trucks. The issue with the big European brands, they pull weight better than the Americans (more robust, technical designs) and tend to be more comfortable. But they are simply too complicated for rugged conditions, repair jobs require complicated computers and brand specific experience. Driving down German autobahns or on smooth Swedish mountain roads a Scania or Volvo will dominate. In a more rugged environment such as Australia, Africa, parts of Eastern Europe & parts of North America you really need something with simpler components.

    • @flemingpandel5287
      @flemingpandel5287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You know, I kind of sort of work at a Scania Shop (but we also do the other european makes), and what I have noticed is that each make has its advantages and disadvantages, but as an overall package the Scania is hard to beat, they offer a wide range from 280-730hp, they get competitive fuel mileage, they have by far the nicest interiors and they win on sound thanks to the V8, but they are also comparatively more expensive. Volvos may pull harder (especially with the I-Shift), MAN are cheaper, DAF are quieter, Mercedes more fuel efficient, and IVECOs are mostly terrible, but none do everything as consistently well as a Scania, plus Scania are much easier to work on than their european counterparts.

      @johnnyhun1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dermotmcglinchey282 I guess you are the one who doesn't know about economy. I am talking about 24 vs 28 liter, thats 4 liter difference in fuel consumption. Thats just an average number, but you never will able to achieve less fuel consumption with the v8 than with the straight6, and I know a guy who owned both and said the same, that the v8 is useless in general cargo traffic in europe, uneless you pull 24 tonns all the time, and the terrain has a lot of hill. But I understand that in Australia, or in Scandinavia you need the extra power because the s6 engine will struggle and eat even more fuel. By the way its completly nonsensse that cylinder number matter, the 750 hp Volvo is still a straight6 engine but instead of the regular 13 liter its a 16 liter engine (just like scania straight 6 vs v8).

      @@johnnyhun1 As I said you’ve never experienced the pulling power of the V8 by your comments, having driven in Europe all my working life there are plenty of mountains to climb …Switzerland Italy France Turkey , I was pulling fish from Ireland to Vigo in North west Spain backin the days when there was no autobahn/ Autovias and from the border at Iran to Vigo was 16 hours a lot of it hill climbing and believe me when I say the pulling power of the Scania 141 was unmatched in its day and I could do that journey in 90 minutes less than other drivers driving with straight six engines…You mention the FH 16 and yes it’s 750 hp straight six but it’s not as economical as the Scania 770 , driving in Holland Belgium Germany and England does not require the power of the V8 when pulling light loads …Get a straight six Scania 500 climbing Mont Blanc from France to Italy and match it like for like with loads gross weights against my S650 V8 not only will the 650 climb way quicker it will use less fuel because the engine is not working hard compared to the six cylinder…My original post makes clear just how impressive the V8 Scania was in comparison to any other truck on the road , not only that it was incredibly economic compared to straight six engines…I said it clearly I drove these for 50 years and nothing compares to them not even the FH 16 Volvo…
