@@reigunndesu for real since she didn’t win no Grammys for this song
She should win. I'm glad I don't listen to Billie Elisha ( though I did after this and she's really good). Kelly brought a maturity to the song that spans audiences. It's the stuff that wins Grammy's.
I don’t even know the original but this fits her voice so well!
og is Billie eilish different from this but in a good way 😊
How do u not know the original? Songs been everywhere
@@jimbob2427 Probably because they (like me) don't listen to her or radio that plays her.
@@aaly.aaly.oxenfree but she’s on every social media platform, do y’all not have those either?
@@hidingfromkash If you don't like or care about an artist, WHY would you follow them on any of that? As such, you also wouldn't get ads for that artist. So no I haven't heard her version nor will I listen to it, but I'll enjoy Kelly's singing.
I didn't like this song before Kelly's cover. Now I am hooked. I am now recognizing how well written it is.
🙌
HOW did you NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL
@@aartzwolschen4498 I liked it a little but it felt a little too outdated. Like some classic from the 1970s
@@ken4722 oh
You just should've recognized it regardless of the singer.
HOW is this even better than the live version from her show?!? 😮💨

Because there are bad words which make it even better :)
@@jessica3218 right! she said that JUST FUCKING LEAVE ME ALONE!! with her chest 😂
Kelly should be in the conversation when people talk about the greatest singers.
That is one of the biggest understatements I have ever heard. There is a clip on You Tube entitled “Kelly Clarkson, the Most Underrated Vocalist/Songwriter of Her Time”. It really says it all. She doesn’t need to be in the conversation, she needs to be the of the conversation and the entire thing focused on her and her ALONE,
Isn't she already in that conversation?
People seem to skip past her and I don’t get how 😩
I loved when Kelly did this cover on her show and even more now that we get the full version …. It takes me back to her My December days.
all i ever wanted era.
I think it’s more of “All I Ever Wanted” era
I'm with you on My December - It really fits nicely with Never Again

One huge MEH!
It's almost like she tried to copy Billie but... without success, and she did not put as much emotions into it as Billie does. Billie's version will always be much better.
@@fantomaorgasma5906 hahaha seriously ? Clearly something is broken with you. Kelly sounded amazing and it's very emotional.
@@andn25 Yes, you poor thing, seriously and something is only broken with you. Kelly does not sound amazing at all and her version is not emotional at all, especially by comparison with Billie's. Now, take a seat and be quiet.
The way Kelly put the full force of the pain, anger and frustration of the divorced single mother into this is what I love so much about her music. I FEEL everything when she sings and the sheer catharsis of this is EXQUISITE....🖤
Damn. Kelly is spitting the words out like they burn. We’re hearing a woman who’s lived it and she’s telling us.
I see what my girl is doing… she is findings songs that tells us how she has felt this past year without having to actually write the song. This way she protects her babies hearts because When they get older she doesn’t have to explain why she wrote that song about her their dad. Smart move Kelly 😊
Wow, KC’s vocals just hit different. The maturity and tone in her voice and all the emotions in it made me tear up. I absolutely love this cover!
Found you ahaha!
oh jesus from heaven this is not cover this is masterpeace...
Agreed 👌
I can't wait until these kind of 2000s style pop-rock ballads come back into popularity again because they were always absolute bangers
3:43 KC did NOT need to make my soul shake from the delivery of the “leave me alone” here. It was like listening to Hazel Eyes growing into this master piece of a cover. God, she is TALENTED and sheer vocalist.
Funny you mentioned Hazel Eyes. I also basically think that Happier Than Ever is something of Behind These Hazel Eyes' niece since the two songs have rather similar vibe
@@hydrosphagus9672 I have to agree, Behind These Hazel Eyes is truly a league of it’s own, but I do feel that Happier Than Ever showcases Kelly’s voice and its maturity since she was young. You can tell the difference in the maturity and control of her voice between the two for sure!

Happier Than Ever Lyrics
[Chorus]
When I'm away from you
I'm happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn't true
[Verse 1]
Give me a day or two to think of something clever
To write myself a letter
To tell me what to do, mm-mm
Do you read my interviews?
Or do you skip my avenue?
When you said that you were passin' through
Was I even on your way?
I knew when I asked you to
Be cool about what I was tellin' you
You'd do the opposite of what you said you'd do
And I'd end up more afraid
Don't say it isn't fair
You clearly weren't aware that you madе me miserable
So if you rеally wanna know
[Chorus]
When I'm away from you
I'm happier than ever
Wish I could explain it better
I wish it wasn't true
[Verse 2]
You call me again, drunk in your Benz
Drivin' home under the influence
You scared me to death, but I'm wastin' my breath
'Cause you only listen to your fuckin' friends
I don't relate to you
No, I don't relate to you
'Cause I'd never treat me this shitty
I get it, you hate this city
[Verse 3]
And I don't talk shit about you on the internet
Never told anyone anything bad
'Cause that shit's embarrassing, you were my everything
And all that you did was make me fuckin' sad
So don't waste the time I don't have
And don't try to make me feel bad
I could talk about every time that you showed up on time
But I'd have an empty line 'cause you never did
Never paid any mind to my mother or friends, so I
Shut 'em all out for you just like a kid
[Bridge]
You ruined everything good
Always said you were misunderstood
Made all my moments your own
Just fuckin' leave me alone
[Verse 4]
And I don't talk shit about you on the internet
Never told anyone anything bad (Yeah)
(Just leave me alone)
'Cause that shit's embarrassing, you were my everything
And all that you did was make me fuckin' sad (Oh, oh)
[Outro]
Leave me alone
🙏🏻
Thank you for posting the words to this song!
Thanks! I couldn't make out exactly what she said in the "I get it, you hate this city" line until I saw this
2:28 SO CLEAN
This cover has Kelly written all over it! I love it when artists make someone else's song their own, basically gifting to the public a great version of an already great song.
Yes
This is Kelly's song now. Her tone and range, my god!
Team KC we are up! Can't get enough of this cover.
Kelly is GOAT. The fact that it is the same song, same lyrics and everything but the different emotions put into the song and how it is sang... that's what make the song, THE SONG.
The moment heard this girl sing I knew she would make a mark on this world . She turned this song all around for me I feel it, her voice her presence is something out of this world,. love you Kelly
Now, imagine Billie in 30 years after a good life of ups and downs, is gonna bee CRAZYY
Wow wow wow. Those of us who saw her do the short version on the show, knew that she could do this but wow when you finally hear it, it's so spot on! Nobody touch it but Billie and Kelly.
Rarely a cover beats the original for me, but wow wow wow Kelly! Wow! BRING THIS OUT ON VINYL PLEEEEASE! Lotsa love Cape Town 😘
A Grammy for best female vocal performance is sooo needed!!!
that cuss words really landed well, full of grit, emotion & Truth... it really great. i was like yes Queen tell it like it is
You just HAD to be there. I'm crying for this cover!!! 😭😭😭😭
Just when she sings “aloooooOOOOOne…” is a masterpiece. The rest is masterpiece gravy. Adore both the original and this great cover.
I forget just how good she is and that's on me. Kelly killed this!
This is one of the best covers ever. The anger and pain in her voice. The production of her band. Kelly Clarkson is one of the most versatile and incredible vocalist of our time. Wow!
So much personality in that low register ! Amazing
That note she hit at the end when she says "just fucking leave me aloooo~~ne" MY GOD, it's maybe the best of everything that I heard so far, and according to youtube that part was the most replayed, well done!!!
It’s crazy how sound can give lyrics a whole different meaning
THIS. IS. INSANE.
HER VOICE IS INSANE.
Is it bad that I prefer this to the original? I f**king love this.
LET’S GET THIS CHARTING.
I love both versions of this song so much. Billie’s sounds like having the illusion shattered the first time, a ‘fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me’ vibe. Kelly’s has a deep, undercurrent of rage and utter disappointment at how much hurt and betrayal someone can inflict on someone they claim to love/loved. I live and breath for both these icons.
Amazingg point omgggg
loud ≠ better
This is such a good point. Love them both but Kelly just breathes that disappointment. It’s not anger or just being loud. It’s the disappointment in someone you thought you knew.
I've been repeating this song a couple of times now because I feel like I haven't been able to appreciate it as it should!
It's just fire 🔥
The feeling, the vocals, so powerful but at the same time so vulnerable!
I’ve left it on repeat for the past 12hrs😵 just fire fire fire like you said

She isn't underrated at all when she's doing fantastic with her career. She's selling many copies and she's widely famous and popular with many fans. She's been nominated in many awards and has won many of them, she's very popular on her show, just not on here but seem to be doing way better on other social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. That's where all Kelly Clarkson fans are at.
This was the perfect song for her… shes like a singer/rockstar 🔥🔥🔥
