    What Carlos is doing is amazing to the Ballet world. Bringing in new, fresh elements to the scene while maintaining the classical quality that we know and love. This is what's going to save Ballet from dying in the new generations. Art has got to evolve in order to survive for centuries. Ballet has been changing since it started, and our post-modern world is very different than it was 50 years ago. It's no surprise that it's time for some change.

    Acosta and Nunez: a match made in heaven. What a wonderful partnership. I saw his last performance with her dancing this pas de deux at the Albert Hall, it was highly emotional. The trust she has in his lifts is obvious, they don't hold back!

    I love the Royal Ballet's Don Quixote! It's so full or life and fun!
    I feel that many other versions of Don Quixote (particularly Russian ones), in order to preserve the original way of doing it, don't have nearly as much fun. While I am impressed when I see one of those versions of Don Quixote, I rarely laugh. Perhaps it would have made people 50 or 100 years ago laugh and feel the fun of it, but senses of humor and what we find fun change with time.
    I feel that, as a Gen Z balletomane, this is how we make ballet popular with a younger audience - sticking to classical roots in the dance, but adding more modern (modern, not faddish) ways of acting and telling a story. That and better advertising of ballets!

    Fantastic! Carlos is exactly right, in all ways. This is the best version of DON Q since Baryshnikov's at ABT. A great new development. Wish I could be there to see it live!

    I didn't think I'd like it when I read about it in the reviews, but saw it live last week and it actually surprised me - really liked it & it brought a new kind of energy and fun to the stage especially in Act 1

    They only shouted a hand full of times. I think it worked really well. It was fun and gave it extra vitality. I don't think you will be seeing them do this in Giselle or Swan lake don't worry!

    Marienela is KITRI! The most perfect for the role, she doesn't over exaggerate but her acting is wonderfully funny and dramatic, and her technique is beautiful!

    Don't care for breaking the fourth wall in a ballet; really don't like shouting from a ballet stage at all.

  • @avesraggiana
    @avesraggiana 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Shouting "Olé!" from the stage is not my idea of a good time in ballet. Making noise, and loud noises at that, seems to be a Latino-Caribbean thing. I wish they'd keep it boom-boom cars and neighbourhood streets, and out of ballet. One of the points of ballet is to tell a story without the use of words or the human voice. Otherwise, I'd just go watch a musical instead.

    • @erod97
      @erod97 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Aves Raggiana Wow...maybe the orchestra should just walk out of the production...because it seems to be a Latin Caribbean thing: making noise. Nevertheless, the story takes place in Spain sooooo....

      Aves Raggiana but there are plenty of other ballets... and Don Q is just about fun and life.

      1. It's based on a Latin novel.
      2. I'm against the wokezies, but this is incredibly racist.

    • @avesraggiana
      @avesraggiana 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bethkrager65291. It’s Spanish, not Latin or Latino, and there’s a difference between all three.
      2. Yes, and if you live in south Florida, my racist generalization is true.
