I personally think all those trends exist mainly in social media. I honestly haven't seen a single Barbie in my city, no-one was wearing those micro bags etc. So I feel like the major shift will be felt by all those people making photos of themselves wearing clothes 😊
I think it might depend on where you live. I live in the Netherlands, and the people here really follow trends a lot. They are very casual chic here... everyone is.
For the most part. Obviously they influence what's in stores and on the street, but it's very diluted. I think people are not crazy enough to throw away things they just purchased, like if they purchased a lug soled boot, or a midi skirt, or whatever just because trends are done. If that was true, you could never keep anything more than one year. People are already kind of done with the "quiet luxury" thing a bit. Just wear what is appropriate.
I agree with with what others have said. I really don’t see people wearing these trends. I live in a small economically depressed area so people wear what they have and even in larger areas people tend to wear what they have.
@@lizziebkennedy7505 I live in a larger city in the US and I don’t see any of these trends. I am not sure who these videos are for…young kids? Definitely don’t see adults dressing in any of these styles or really caring much about them.
I agree on all of these, but I won’t be giving up my midi or mini skirts and (slightly) chunky boots. When these came back in, I already had several perfect pairs from the previous time they were trending, early 2000s?, so I didn’t buy any new ones. At age 63, I’ve learned to not buy super-trendy items, knowing they will quickly look dated. I’m so glad those oversized blazers are going out, this trend prevented me from finding any blazer I liked enough to buy for five years or so. I knew they wouldn’t work on petite me and never much liked the way they looked on others, either. This autumn, I’ve finally found some high-quality classic-cut blazers and coats, so I’ve been buying. I hope the solid red coat I bought yesterday qualifies as “interesting outerwear”, I already have a full collection of great wool overcoats in neutrals.
Who says fashion has an age limit? You go, girl! Keep slaying those midi and mini skirts and chunky boots. Age is just a number, and style knows no bounds!
I don’t think my love for hot pink is that out of control, but I don’t think I overdo it, either. The rest of the items you mentioned ABSOLUTELY can stay behind! Another great video, Leonie. Thank you!

This reminds me of when we were told ankle boots were done. Or we keep being told round toed boots are done... then we were told that knee high boots were done, then we were told over the knee boots were done and none of it is ever true. And people are going to wear midi skirts and maxi ones. Just like they will wear low rise and high rise. I expect skinny jeans will come back.....it's all how you style things really.

And here I just finally successfully thrifted a charcoal wool coat that goes over and with everything and a camel coat that does the same. I still do have bright purple outerwear from earlier years. I don't know that I am ready to go back to that, though. It's hard to style.
I love the return of slimline sneakers... At one time, I didn't like bright coats, but when I saw them worn with a monochrome outfit underneath, they looked fabulous...😊
Adidas Sambas being a trend is such a trip. Those sneakers remind me of soccer/futbol guys in HS during the 90s wearing them to school. It is nice to see all the new colors coming out though.

Personally, I’m on board with almost all of your treads, except buying a trendy overcoat, if you have a serviceable classic coat in a color that goes with everything. In my opinion, no wardrobe is complete without that at least in colder climbs like where I live in Michigan.
I'm on the same page as kather................. as live in a snow belt region in Canada however I do have an unlined/ multi check/midi length cloth coat (gold and gray tones plus black) that I am hoping to wear on warmer days with a lightweight/down filled/quilted jacket as an underlay rather than invest in a colorful winter one. On that note; as far as jackets go I am set as have a variation in colors and styles.
the tie front top! I've seen them in store so many times this year and never bought them. There are ppl who rock them but I just feel insecure (in a way that I might accidentally flash ppl) to wear them 😅. I had the experience last year in Rome wearing a dress made of light weight fabric, when I was walking down the street facing a strong wind, I had everybody find out what underwear I was wearing 🤣. acted like nothing happened but I never wore that dress again. I don't think I'd buy any clothes that I need to constantly check if my body is covered the right way LOL
This is why Queen Elizabeth wore weights sewn into her hem. It saved her from embarrassment. I check the weather the night before I got out and don't wear flimsy dresses on those days just in case.
People are tired of chasing the trends, especially people that have the money to buy good quality things. They’re not gonna waste hard earned cash on something that’s going to be out in a season or two’ I’m hoping and praying the elevated basics and classic styling will stay in for a long time. It always has with me. I see some of these iinfluencers over the past year wearing blazers that look like they would fit their fathers I never think that’s a flattering look. I also think it would be foolish to invest in a flamboyant outdoor coat. If you do not possess a classic coat in a color that goes with everything, mainly because this is expensive purchase, and we should not be talked into buying something that may be popular for one season or at most two. Of course if you’re rich, that’s a different story! Lol!
I agree, but many years ago I had a red coat and royal blue coat. I gave them away. Really wished I’d kept them. Also you can add color with scarves, hats and gloves. Much cheaper
And not every one has enough time for search on what the lastest trends going on the trends are changing every year and more knowledge about everything can feel tired and depressing so lets go with what makes you feel comfortable and ease.
I absolutely agree with you! If I buy cloths then only made of high quality and if possible with natural materials (cotton, linen, real leather, slik, etc.). I don’t like plastic materials. People should stop following “trends” cause the fast fashion industry is destroying our planet. And people who buy fast fashion are helping them with it.
I LOVE low rise jeans like when Britney Spears wore them. That was an iconic y2k look. I won’t ever be able to hop on that bandwagon unless I have a tummy tuck 😂
I feel this decade will be defined by thriftcore or eco-core the way precious decades are defined, examples the trashy trendy of 2000s or tumbler hibster core for the 2010s,i also think we will see a sharp rise in double texture materials such as leather looking like denim and some materials that look like liquid, structural yet liquid. Also smart fabrics that can be altered via an app on the phone, weve already seen colour change fabrics coming back, but i feel there will be a real lean towards sci fiction inspired looks, similar to the sci fi influences seen in the late 50s early 60s when the space race, the cold war really had everyone in a grip ❤❤❤
Barbie core can stay in 2023 but pops of pink are here to stay. I also love my long line blazers and will belt them. I am so ready for dark wash non distressed denim and sambas are life right now. I do love a midi skirt over maxi but i am 5'5 so maxi can tend to be to much on my height.
tie front cardi/low-rise jeans/distressed jeans. . . .never---won't ever---wear any of them. As for a pale blush pink. . .it was one of my accent colors before Barbie and will be there after Barbie is history! Not ready for the weird outer wear.
Hi Leonie, always enjoy your videos! So the low rise jeans have not gained momentum ha ha? I wonder why? I think they only look good on younger gals with flat tummies. On everyone else - it’s muffin top time. I hate getting rid of stuff, and had two pairs that lasted really well worn on repeat. However, no problem letting those go. I’m so thrilled higher waists came out and yet more thrilled that darker wash is coming in! I’ve struggled to find any and they are my faves! I have wool lined lug sole boots (not extreme) and they are a godsend in extreme cold. I only just got my black long coat and I love it! Every one of my jumpers fits underneath. With a tie waist and deep pockets what’s not to love? Keeper. Already got maxi skirts and dresses, so I’ll be super trendy next year without buying more. A maxi dress is great for petites as is a maxi pencil skirt. I got a black denim one and worn it a lot, work, church and going out. Except doing housework. Such a great fit and looks great on petites. I find midi unflattering- it hits at a strange place on my leg, and proportions just don’t look right.
Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. And you're right, low rise jeans definitely have their challenges. It's great that higher waists and darker washes are back in style, though. They're much more flattering for most body types!
Respectfully I disagree on a couple. Lug shoes were present on Autumn/winter 2024 as well as big spacious jackets with shoulder pads. Big coats are also not leaving us nor chunky sole snickers.
I disagree on a couple of points! I personally have seen SO MANY sambas on every single influencer that they don’t even look good to me. So basic. Which is a shame, since it’s a legendary shoe, literally. The second one - “interesting outerwear”. No. Just no. I live in a very cold climate, where winter is 4-6 months. Imma stick to my classic (tho I prefer oversized) puffer coats, wool coats, etc. Because these things are expensive and buying something like a red coat, which I will be sick with in a month is not something I can afford. Aslo conversation around high/mid/lowrise needs to kinda stop alltogether, because it’s just a thing that people prefer. I like to have ALL the options available in stores! Not only highrise or lowrise 😅
Thanks for sharing your perspective! It's always interesting to hear different opinions on fashion trends and personal preferences. Everyone has their own unique style and that's what makes fashion so diverse and exciting!
I so agree with you. I do live in a cold climate too. But with the crazy outerwear, that will just contribute to the massive waste production in the clothes industry. I cannot see, that this would be worn for more than one season. You’ll get tired of it quickly, it’ll look dated fast even within the one season. It doesn’t lend itself to a lot of different outfits. Here the influencers should take a far more responsible approach. I do like looking at the videos here, but this really disappointed me. As to sneakers, no one here in Scandinavia was wearing those huge sneakers. No one wore head to toe pink either. Or those cardigans without anything underneath. Or those mini bags. Not even our teenagers. Maybe everyone is just catching up to scandistyle in 2024?
Don't want to be Debbie Downer here...enjoyed seeing your thoughts on 2024 fashions...that said...I never had any interest in the whole Barbie bandwagon, movie or fashion. Never ever have liked a belted blazer, but I know you just offered that as an option. I do like blazers of all kinds though, and am a real "jacket gal." I like the moderate boyfriend, and whatever shape is most current. Classic blazer always works. I don't like extreme anything, (it's always here and gone as fast as you've doled out cash on it), definitely not those HUGE menswear looks. I feel the same about the "fashiony outerwear"...still much prefer my classics. However, those that like it, have fun with it. I have had "artsy, artisan made" wool coats in the past, I bought at art fairs, that I loved. The older I get, the more classic my wardrobe and tastes get...however, I do love a bit of romance & whimsey thrown in too. The maxi pencil skirts, especially denim...at 5'1"...was not for me. I just really feel the most recent trends, oversized, chunky, huge cargo pants etc...have been some of the least flattering and unfeminine looks that we've seen in a while. And usually extremes are short-lived. Tks for the video!
Because of my short torso, high waist jeans do not fit my body type. Mid rise or low rise is hard to find. But when I do find them, I grab them. It's NOT SEXY when the zipper on the high rise is half the length of your body. 😂😂😂
I so agree. I am 5'3 and all legs, short torso. Most of the pant offerings of ANY kind for the last few years look terrible on me. The waistband literally comes up to my bra line. We all need options.
Personally I think that the concept of trends in general I going away. Sure, it can always be found on the internet but regular people don’t have the time to chase every trend that due to social media changes within months.
So glad to see low rise pants are out, they never looked classy to me. Oversized pants and jackets look sloppy so goodbye! So happy to see slim athletic shoes coming back, much more feminine looking.
Wherever they are, I don't know where they are......🤣😂 Totally agree on the mini micro (only fits a charge card) bag. I have small evening bags, but they fit more than what designer had people buying those daytime style. The lug sole boots are a necessity where I live because of snow and ice being common during the winter months and nothing like trying to walk in no tracking moto combat boots. in this kind of weather. Never been big on pink even as a little girl, more a magenta, purplish pink color for me. My men thrifted suits are my loves and for this big boob gal, I will be sticking with them, but I have belted them, and I do have some fitted ones. Midi vs Maxi, I flavor the midi because I consider anything that stop right before the feet or ankle a midi and anything that sweep the floor a maxi (and I not comfortable with wearing them out, because you will have to keep lifting them) not a good running errand or walking about length. Glad sneakers have gone back to the vintage realm because (those are what I stayed with) I not a chunky sneaker style because I use them for activity. I feel with outerwear anything goes because plain will take you to all occasions and is a forever piece, but statement outerwear is refreshing but I would not invest into too many because outerwear tends to be more costly. Not sure if you guys do thanksgiving since the background is in American history, but if so have a good one and ta ta for now.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and personal preferences! It's always interesting to hear different perspectives on fashion choices and how they vary from person to person. And no we don't celebrate Thanksgiving but thank you for the sentiment anyway and happy Thanksgiving to you Denise xx
Except that on a shortie like me, they can be the right length! The rest, I always have to shorten: tiresome. PS midi skirts also look full length on me 😅
So I have a fluorescent pink winter coat and every time I wear it I get so many compliments!People love it.Seems to make them happier.Definately dopamine dressing. Love your channel.
I've passed on all of the 2023 trends so far except Sambas. I bought Sambas a few months ago and love them. No way am I going to spend good money on gaudy coats in 2024.
I never knew that tie-front cardigans were in fashion. Ive not really seen anybody wearing them either! And does anybody in real life ever use one of those titchy handbags? Nooooo! I love an oversized blazer and I'm going to keep wearing them. Even for people that aren't so keen you can always buy a size smaller but at least you get the boxy shape. With fitted blazers they are always too tight on the shoulders and arms but if you size up then you have a ridiculous amount of fabric on the sides and in the front. And the sleeves never seem to be quite long enough! The oversized ones are so useful for layering. You can get a long sleeved shirt underneath without the shirt sleeves getting caught up and ruckled. And when it gets really cold you can fit a jumper under them too. And they are much more forgiving if you put on a few pounds. They are just so much more practical overall. Interestingly I have seen other influencers say that maxis are going out and midis are coming back!!
As a proud owner of a beautiful barbie pink wool coat . Im totally going to rock it for years to come lol. I can see how its been a lot this year so im going to look for ways to style it into the new year. Maybe with more blacks to tone down the barbieness? Anyone have suggestions ?
I bought a bright purple coat a few years ago because I fell in love with it, still wear it and will continue to wear it - regardless of trends. When I see all the trends that only come out for one season, I feel like the fashion industry wants me to be a hamster in a wheel...
My favorite purchase this season was a raspberry pink fitted wool blazer; I’ve been looking for the perfect blazer in that color for years. I’ve been playing with different color combinations and the best so far is a pair of very dark green (think deep olive, nearly espresso brown) wide-leg corduroy jeans; dark denim looks great with it, too. In early spring I plan to wear it with grey slacks and with white jeans. I know I’ll be wearing it for many years. Try greens, beiges, taupes, greys, browns, and various denim washes - your eye will tell you if the particular shades/undertones work together.
Fashion and style are different. Style is timeless, individual and sustainable. Fashion is for people trying to buy confidence, adding to the destruction of our planted, because they aren't (yet) content with themselves.
Heck no on the cardigans I agreee that is trashy, I agree on the head to toe pink but I will still rock my pink blazers next year (sparingly lol), I'm still wearing my chunky sneakers but I agree the slimlines are nice and yes ma'am I will belt my oversized blazers in fact I'm stalking a belt from Zara I want to use to do it!
If you love it, wear it! I think ‘trending colors’ is a little silly. We should wear the colors that suit our skin tones and that make us happy… *always.* That said, I’m excited whenever I see a color I love trending; it means there’ll be more selection available, offering an opportunity to find something new and special as well as refreshing basics in my favorite colors. For me, that’s pink, red, and burgundy, and I’ll continue wearing my bright pinks.
Don't worry, you're not alone! Pink is a color that brings joy and positivity, just like your love for it. Embrace your inner Barbie and rock that pink!
I don't think a pop of pink is discouraged. Unless you are dressing head to toe in that colour, don't stop wearing it! Just the other day someone complimented on my hot pink blazer and told me pink was my colour...
Designers can try to bring back low rise bottoms all they want. The majority of the population know better. In my opinion, only 6 foot skinny models can get away with them and let’s face it, what percentage of the population has that kind of body?!
I’ll tell you which trend needs to stay in 2023: The center hair part! It doesnt look good on anyone, and telling people it was in style was always a psyop!
I’m so grateful low waisted jeans went out and skinny jeans I’m loving the trousers straight and wide legs. Also thank goodness for slim sneakers I felt like I was shopping for orthopedic for a while! I don’t how that caught on or stuck.
I agree that I don't see most of these trends on the street or in shops or restaurants, or at concerts. Btw, you should face the camera straightt on; it looks as if you have a neck problem and can't straighten your head.
I also agree on your 2023’s! 😅 I like chocking pink but I won’t dress in it top to toe! 💓 Loooove dark jeans and will be using my different pairs during winter and spring!👖 Just bought three new knitted maxi dresses: one light gray, one dark navy and one burgundy! The gray has like a braided pattern and a short coller, the navy has vertical lines in the fabric, skimning/huggning the body and the burgundy is flat in the fabric. I’ll style them with belts, jackets and boots. Add colour to my outer wear by wearingcolourful knitted hats, beanies, mittens/gloves and scarves! 🧣🧤 Bye from 🇸🇪💨🍂☔️
I have a bubblegum pink raincoat and matching hat that's long at the back. Got them before the Barbie craze and love it on a grey day. I wear the coat with a bright yellow bag.

I bought a beautiful bright blue coat this Fall, so I'm good .
Hurray for dark denim!
I haven't seen the front-tie sweaters anywhere, or even mentioned on any fashion influencers' channels. Is it perhaps more of an Australian thing?
I LOVE low rise jeans like when Britney Spears wore them. That was an iconic y2k look. I won’t ever be able to hop on that bandwagon unless I have a tummy tuck 😂
Trends come back around but wisdom lies in which ones you can revive...tummy tuck sounds drastic!
Thank goodness the low-rise waistline never caught on! So many of us are past that for good!
Yup, they just look so manly imo
At age 70, I'm old enough to know that trenchcoats, puffer jackets and cardigans hate me. I have tried - no good. For the rest, I keep an open mind
Cardigans and puffers are frumpy! I agree, age 63🙂
Fair enough. We all know what we feel most comfortable in. I love puffers, cardigans and trenches but totally get they are not for everyone 🙏🏼
I am still in love Barbie pink for a pop of color.
I love dark wash. Hope they do come back.
lol I was Barbie core before, during and shall remain thereafter ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ it’s a lifestyle for sure
Needs to happen
Barbie core can stay in 2023 but pops of pink are here to stay. I also love my long line blazers and will belt them. I am so ready for dark wash non distressed denim and sambas are life right now. I do love a midi skirt over maxi but i am 5'5 so maxi can tend to be to much on my height.
tie front cardi/low-rise jeans/distressed jeans. . . .never---won't ever---wear any of them. As for a pale blush pink. . .it was one of my accent colors before Barbie and will be there after Barbie is history! Not ready for the weird outer wear.
You will pry my fuschia cotto linen blouses from my cold dead hands. The colour looks fantastic on dark haired me.
I agree with you regarding the extreme distressed demin I've seen so far but I think some distressed is okay too.
I completely understand where you're coming from. It's all about finding the right balance between extreme and subtle distressing in denim.
hi Leonie I like your flared sleeves ribbed top
Thanks for the insights, Leonie! It's interesting to see your picks on fading trends. Looking forward to your next video.
I agree with you on all of your trends to leave behind except for midi skirts that I love to wear. Have a nice weekend ❤
Thank you! You too!
Love your list!! Thank you!!
Yay! Thank you!
The super cute ensemble with the Bobby socks and Mary Jane heels has an awesome midi 40’s style skirt.
Respectfully I disagree on a couple. Lug shoes were present on Autumn/winter 2024 as well as big spacious jackets with shoulder pads. Big coats are also not leaving us nor chunky sole snickers.
I was nervous going into this video 😂 but I actually agree 👍 ❤ Great video 📹 ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Pink will stay trending through the summer on my prediction.
When you grow up you wear what suits you whether it is on trend or not.
Love great vid❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💯💯💯💯
Your "ick" list ts the same as mine. Thank goodness we are turning the page!
🙏🏼
Hate low rise jeans! Hate one button cardigans good calls!
I hear you x
Where did you get the jeans you’re wearing. Love the cargo jeans. Please share!
i agree❤
I might try the Adidas, but I just bought another pair of my Nike Air Max, which were great for putting on miles of walking when traveling!
Nice to wave pink goodbye! Wide oversized clothing easily makes anyone frumpy. ~ Chunky sneakers are yugggh!
Thanks for the update Leonie! Always appriciate . I’ll left the Barbie pink in the 2023. /Marie from Sweden
Do we all agree on not making low rise jeans happen again anytime soon, please? 😂🙏🏻
I am 5’1” and love love low rise and mid rise jeans & trousers, high rise does not work for me ever!
I’ve never been able to wear low rise. Ever. Too curvy. (Well, that’s my story…😂)
I like low rise and never stopped wearing them entirely. With a belt they make me look more curvy.
Yes, really we do. They look awful and silly on everyone.
Leone pink is my favorite color but I totally agree with you. We gotta back off on the pink for a couple seasons it’s way too oversaturated.
Please still wear it pink if it's your fav colour I'd hate to make you feel like you have to shelve it :(
Yes wearing my pink, but not head to toe ✅🍀🍀
Because of my short torso, high waist jeans do not fit my body type. Mid rise or low rise is hard to find. But when I do find them, I grab them. It's NOT SEXY when the zipper on the high rise is half the length of your body. 😂😂😂
I totally understand the struggle! Finding jeans that fit just right can be such a challenge, especially when you have a shorter torso!
I’ll still be wearing low rise, but it’s all personal preference.
Absolutely!
Where are you buying your low rise? I have searched everywhere and can't find them.
I agree with everything you said
Wherever they are, I don't know where they are......🤣😂 Totally agree on the mini micro (only fits a charge card) bag.
It is not by changing clothes every year driven by so-called fashion that we are being nice to the planet
Agree with much of your content 😊. Where can I buy the white shirt you are wearing?
I wish cropped pants would go away. No one will admit it but they make your legs look shorter.
Agree, esp when I am already short!
Except that on a shortie like me, they can be the right length! The rest, I always have to shorten: tiresome. PS midi skirts also look full length on me 😅
Absolutely!
So I have a fluorescent pink winter coat and every time I wear it I get so many compliments!People love it.Seems to make them happier.Definately dopamine dressing. Love your channel.
They can make your legs look shorter - shoe choice definitely matters!
Yes! Low rise, goodbye! 😅
Are the slightly oversized coats still on trend
What other sneakers will be in ?
As a proud owner of a beautiful barbie pink wool coat . Im totally going to rock it for years to come lol. I can see how its been a lot this year so im going to look for ways to style it into the new year. Maybe with more blacks to tone down the barbieness? Anyone have suggestions ?
I like grey and lighter neutrals with it/ tones down the boldness. Black still makes it bold for me.
Could not agreed more with both of you! Same and same
I bought a bright purple coat a few years ago because I fell in love with it, still wear it and will continue to wear it - regardless of trends.
I have a pink coats/jackets in different shades. I don't mind wearing them as I want to😂
UGG boots? Where are your cargos from? 😊
I will miss Pink 😭 I loved it already two years before the Barbie Movie and I think its timeless but yeah... I might be alone with this
If you love it, wear it!
@@altitudeiseverything3163 you are right, I will try to be brave and keep your words in my mind 🤩
Happy Thanksgiving from the US
Thank you 🙏🏼 Same to you!
Cries in new balance 😭
I love your chunky necklace ❤
I like chocking pink but I won’t dress in it top to toe! 💓
Loooove dark jeans and will be using my different pairs during winter and spring!👖
Just bought three new knitted maxi dresses: one light gray, one dark navy and one burgundy!
Bye from 🇸🇪💨🍂☔️
That sounds like a great fashion plan for 2023! Mixing and matching different pieces is always a stylish choice.
I have a bubblegum pink raincoat and matching hat that's long at the back. Got them before the Barbie craze and love it on a grey day. I wear the coat with a bright yellow bag.
Oversized blazers look very unflattering. I’ll always go for a more fitted blazer.
Yeah. It was intensely oversized!
Rest assured, I won't be wearing any tie front sweaters with nothing underneath 😅😅😅😅
