  • Details: Finding the 1 count is more difficult than it seems. Every song is different and not every dancer listens to music the same. We often have to break the song apart and try to make sure that everyone is on the same page. If we don't then we will often be off in our choreography. Here are 4 strategies to find the 1 count in a song.

    Hey everyone so I uploaded this video a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately I got a lot of complaints that the background music made the video a little confusing so I am re-uploading it now to make sure this is easy for everyone to understand. Hope yall enjoy =)

    I watched many videos on this subject. You are the first one to start with many ways to approach this issue. I am a beginner dance student, trying to learn bachata. I am still struggling to find the no 1 count. Do you have any other video explaining in detail this issue for a beginner like me? thank you.

    I would have found this useful if there was actual music used in the examples. At the moment, it's a bit like me talking about the use of colour in paintings, without showing you any paintings and any colour.

    Awesome tutorial! Any recommendations for simple songs to practice finding the count to?

      Try slower Hip Hop songs. They are ussually pretty easy. Look up songs by Dr. Dre. I ussually find those helpful.

    None of this helps find "1". You can find a pattern, but start counting "1" at a different point in the pattern than the "1" actually arrives at. You can know chorus, verse, etc, and still not know that the singer starts singing the verse AFTER or BEFORE the "1". You can count the "even beats", but... be wrong about it. You are counting the uneven numbers without knowing it.

    What if some song don't have a "snare" sound?

    • @VincaniTV
      @VincaniTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      most songs do but if not you will have to identify the up and down beat. Even if someone is singing accapella you can still count.

      Can you make a part 2 and instead of using a steady beat use a intermediate beat? Like how you did with your windmills tutorial.

    i need help :s
    so is it wierd that my footwork (6-step, 3-step, Coffee Grinder) go counter clockwise, but my powermoves (Windmill, Flare) go clockwise? (Im right handed)

    • @fatcatattack
      @fatcatattack 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Turtleboi DJ I had that same problem before.You can keep going like that but if you want to transition from power to footwork and vice versa,you should do foot clockwise.

    he talks about how not all music is the same, and then when he launches into his explanation, he starts talking about the snare. Not all songs have a snare on those beats.

    • @VincaniTV
      @VincaniTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not that music is the same, it is that we are looking for similarities in it that we can recognize to help us understand it better. Even experienced dancers have trouble with this same idea. The more we listen to music, the more we will understand it, feel it and be able to find it.

    But sometimes the song changes into faster pace and everyone needs to know about these songs.

    I always count the snare haha with and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 but a lot of ppl tell me that is wrong xD

    • @GFSwinger1693
      @GFSwinger1693 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That just means you are counting too slow is all. Instead of "and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4" you should be counting "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8" That will put your downbeats on odd numbers and upbeats (snare) on even numbers.
