Hi Dan you can get the patches for the g3, g3x and g5 but the newer models (the g3n etc) they have changed the software among other things so it can't be programmed with the patches. hope this helps

I've got an old Watkins Copi Cat had it since 1967 did the Shadows stuff also used one on our PA. We made up new tapes using the HD reel to reel tapes from those big Akia type tape players. I rang Charlie Watkins in London from Darwin Australia around 1976, ( cyclone tracy had obliterated the place) . he airmailed me two packets of tapes cost 10 pounds, I still have them unused in there original packets. Things for the vid Steve, and nice playing as well.

Whato Steve, I play wonderful land and apache etc and have a 1992 Hank signature and a 40th aniversary. Been playing for 58 years. I can now play any instrumental in the style of Hank which is good fun. I would say only the last unit did not sound as good. The others were so similar that with the backing music it would be hard to distinguish them. The audience probably don’t mind authenticity if it sounds really good. The multiple echoes need to stand out on the muted section which the last echo failed to do. Great video👍👍👍👍👍
I would have have thought the Zoom was the first one, it sounds so good much better than the one I have the Zoom G3n I think I need to do some tweeting
having the Vox Ac 30 or a compatable Amp and the right Guitar and pick ups is IMO more of a major factor. because the difference between Amps and guitars on getting the Shadows sound is much larger if you dont have the correct amp and guitar than the difference between all of these Shadows effect units which are much closer in sound .
and this is it. I was looking for a guitar and pickups for a long time, but not only because there are also important strings that are used in the sound compared to de shadows.
I had a Zoom G1xon which you provided the patch for Steve, and it was very good. Now I have a Zoom G2 1u with EFTP installed going through a VOX AC15VR and for me, it's pretty damn good!!! I can never find a Meazzi, let alone afford one!!!!

Hi hank never used the factotum. He did use a Meazzi Echomatic which was a drum echo machine instead of a normal tape and these had their own distinctive sound
Thanks Bob i never did a follow up as didn't need to. I recorded them in the same order as i presented them so number one was the Zoom g3x and so on with the last one being my old vox short tom.
Well I'm not sure what Hank's settings were, I'm no Shadows expert but the 3rd sound was the nearest to the Wonderful Land tone that I hear. I don't know how much of that is down to the band mix, but I'd imagine Hank to be quite conservative in his use of effects so I can well believe that you might be right and maybe we do sometimes drench our tone with effects too much.....especially on the cleaner tones such as these.
Hi Steve the one thing that stands out is most of them are in the ballpark I do prefer number 2 and 3 and 4 but guessing thats because if i'm right then i use them myself ie G3x and the Quads.

Volume differences make a comparison impossible. Guess who is who is not going to be possible but classify them from 1 to 6 yes in equal volumes. Yes it is distinguished which is the Echo to magnetic tape (the last). Greetings /Antonio
That's a very early short tom, they changed the tensioner lhs on the later ones along with all those resistors showing got tucked away, badge is different to later printed ones
HI. I tend to use various guitars. One is a Squier Simon Neil Strato. Another is the Fender Custom Shop 56 and the blue one is my Alan Brason Custom Stratocaster.

John,ive had the rest hall and collins is the best, not just sound but large fonts I can see when studying up and the easiest to use notice knobs on front just turn to ajust for room acoustics, O why do people pay £3000 for a brand new fender thats been aged with sandpaper? I and you can play the same notes as mr Marvin,get the same amp guitar and similar echo settings, but we will never sound like hanks if you're wining about price of a Hand built echo ,then get a fender Strat copy ,a cheap transistor amp, and play it in the bathroom for a very cheap echo, then you can have your own cheap sound,
Hi Graham. I guess it is all subjective. The TVS3 is £3500 and a real meazzi can cost £2000+ so £600 for the Hall and Collins isnt bad in comparison. That said a lot of the units give a great sound and not many people could tell a difference so it depends on what you want. Its nice to have so many options these days.

A friend used to have a Meazzi Factotum back in 1978. He played Albatros through a Vox AC 30 and the sound was amazing.
They do have a wonderful sound of their own

Hi Andreas im afraid you can't get the patches separately anymore. Only option is to buy one on eBay or such already programmed. Hope this helps.

Hi Jaime. The patches come from Ross Hall. They are £80 and cover a lot of the shadows tracks.

Yep the great ones are sadly disappearing fast but, the Strymon Volante is a great echo unit of recent times.

Yes her certainly did. The RE301 was used for the 80s live performances and up to 1997 i believe

John,ive had the rest hall and collins is the best, not just sound but large fonts I can see when studying up and the easiest to use notice knobs on front just turn to ajust for room acoustics,
O why do people pay £3000 for a brand new fender thats been aged with sandpaper?
I and you can play the same notes as mr Marvin,get the same amp guitar and similar echo settings, but we will never sound like hanks if you're wining about price of a Hand built echo ,then get a fender Strat copy ,a cheap transistor amp, and play it in the bathroom for a very cheap echo, then you can have your own cheap sound,
Hi Graham. I guess it is all subjective. The TVS3 is £3500 and a real meazzi can cost £2000+ so £600 for the Hall and Collins isnt bad in comparison. That said a lot of the units give a great sound and not many people could tell a difference so it depends on what you want. Its nice to have so many options these days.

I had a g7 a few years back. Sounded good if you took the amp modelling off
