The grooves from Gacharic Spin takes me back to the Oingo Boingo days with Danny Elfman.

You were right on the money when you said that solo was jazz-rock fusion. I was into Chick Corea, Weather Report etc, and these women did a masterful job with that solo. Also the amazing funk groove for me was a bit older. As a young male I grew up with the rock greats, the Who, Cream, Hendrix, Zeppelin etc, but I was also into R&B, Soul and the funk bands such as Sly and the Family Stone, Isley Brothers, Commodores to name a few. Band-Maid rekindled my interest in rock but Gacharic Spin has mesmerized me these past few weeks. I first heard Gacharic Spin with their amazing live version of "Mindset" and at the end I literally thought "WTF did I just listen to?" with a smile on my face.

It is scary how good so many of the Japanese bands are.

Thanks for taking a look at this band, it has been my favourite for years! They formed in 2009 with most members already being experienced musicians from multiple previous projects.
As a Rush fan you might enjoy the constantly shifting time signatures of their track Gold Dash: th-cam.com/video/l8hE7XlRkUA/w-d-xo.html Main riff is in 7 (bar of 4/4, bar of 3/4), verse is in 15 (4/4, 3/4/, 4/4, 4/4), pre-chorus in 3, chorus and middle 8 in 4. A cheeky bar of 2/4 is thrown in before the solo as well and an extra bar filling out an extended cross the beat drum pattern rounds out the solo.
As someone who likes prog I'd also recommend taking a look at their track Kishikaisei Forever (Reincarnate forever): th-cam.com/video/08bci2ZjbTw/w-d-xo.html Whilst it's all 4/4 they do some really tasty extended cross-beat time manipulations in the verses of the prog metal riffer and that main riff is just *chef's kiss*.
If you watch those MV's I linked above, you'll notice Hana, the lady who was on drums and vocals in the song you reacted to here, is on guitar and vocals. Their drummer Yuri was off on maternity leave when this album/PV was filmed so Hana, who is also an excellent drummer, stepped in to record for their latest album, besides recording her guitar and vocal parts.
They also famed as one of the best live bands around, there's lots of footage from them online that's worth taking a look at. Take a look at their 2019 dual drum set-up performance of their track TAMASHII to see what they're capable of: th-cam.com/video/Jt7-GGRa3nc/w-d-xo.html Or their performance of hard rock track Lost Angel from the same show: th-cam.com/video/_-bMQ1fcqBQ/w-d-xo.html (guitar solo on this one absolutely shreds).

Hana plays whatever Hana wants. She was also the bass player in another band. She will even play a melodica, or something similar. She played Smells Like Teen Spirit on some cups, a ruler, a stapler, a pair of scissors, a couple of balloons and a hair dryer.

This is what happens when classically trained musicians decide to form a rock band.

I knew you were going to like it :D, after that I'd check a live performance from them. Tamashii is a great one from their latest Blu-Ray: th-cam.com/video/Jt7-GGRa3nc/w-d-xo.html
Here they play with twin drums. Hana is their original drummer and lead vocalist, who recently switched to guitar. In Mindset she's back on drums, because Yuri their current drummer was on maternity leave during the recording. Tamashii is from their first tour with Yuri, where they did some songs with twin drums.
Gacharis Spin also have a side project called Doll$boxx, where they partner up with Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus on vocals. If want to check them out as well, I'd go for Take my Chance: th-cam.com/video/mu2z4Uf9Tgc/w-d-xo.html

All of these Japanese bands have found the philosopher's stone of how to entertain and uplift the soul with excellent and progressive music. These girls are fantastic.

Awesome reaction! :) I really like your laid back and knowledgable point of view!
PLEASE also check out their song "I Wish I", one of my favourite songs of 2021! And also their old project Doll$boxx with vocalist Fuki. I suggest "Take My Chance" and "Shout Down". F Chopper Koga is an amazing bassist!
Also, I figured you are a bassist yourself? You NEED some Kiyoshi in your live!!! Check out her song "Missile" and maybe "Knock it off" live!

I subscribed at "...or not" hehehe
I loved how mesmerized by their beautiful voices (and general beauty, lets be honest!) you get from 5:43 to 6:20. After that prog-rock bit, they hit you hard, don't they?

Here you go! They do it all. Rock, funk, jazz, pop, psychedelic space punk haha
You will never pin their sound down the seemingly reinvent themselves every album. For what I think has a kinda progressive, rush’ish vibe ( I’m thinking grace under pressure here) try “winner”
Fir some 70’s funky fun try generation gap. And for Oreo as a cheeseburger try red line haha

    Glad you liked ga.cha.ric spin.
Now that you’ve made it through mindset it’s time to try the other video from this album, “I wish I.”
Mindset is fantastic but really set up to be something of an American pop song. Would have done great on mtv back in the day. I feel like I wish I though equally as great might have had to get it’s exposure on some midnight talk show…

It's already been mentioned, but check out the live version of this at EX THEATER ROPPONGI, if you haven't already. It sounds just like the studio version live..., scary good.

For more Gacharic Spin i suggest "I Wish I" and "Gold Dash" also since you like prog check out Bridear -- Brave New World Revisited, they're another all girl Japanese band and the song is an almost 8 minute epic.

Try “I Wish I” next. It’s another amazing song from the same album. The lyrics are good, too.
Gacharic Spin. “Char” as in Charlie.”
In Japanese, the vending machine where you put in a coin and turn a knob until a plastic ball containing a toy pops out is called a “GACHA-GACHA,” because of the “GACHA-GACHA” sound it makes.

Yeah, these ladies are awesome. Do a live performance next. So much fun! Would love to see you get back to Lovebites as well. Set the World on Fire (live) is a great thrashy track.
