Album Quilt Block Tutorial: 12.5 Inches

  • Hello from the sewing room!
    I’m making the classic Album Quilt Block.
    This block will measure 12.5 inches square when completed and finish in your quilt or other project at 12 inches square.
    This block is comprised of five squares placed on point, surrounded by four side setting triangles and four corner setting triangles.
    The technique of setting blocks on point really adds nice visual interest to many quilts and other projects, such as table runners and wall hangings. This is a skill builder block that will come in handy over and over again.
    I show you step by step how to construct, press, and square up the block for beautiful results every time.
    I do mention in the video but I’ll repeat here: For best results use a regular 1/4” seam allowance and not a scant 1/4” seam allowance. The block is slightly oversized as it is when using a regular 1/4” seam allowance.
