  • Replaced my front driver side power seat with a seat that didn’t have a side airbag. Threw flashing airbag light so I found a fix for that air bag sensor light.

    I have a 2008 Isuzu I-290 which is basically a GMC Canyon or Chevy Colorado....I had an airbag indicator appearing on the dash...after watching this video, I tore out both driver and passenger seats and found a severed wire on the rear driver side connector to the cable that connects to the harness that comes up from the floor....reconnected the wire and the dash indicator went out!! I🤘 thanks for the how-to!!

    This is actually a great show of how it works, so the airbag natuarally provides resitance to the circut the reason why it has to be at 2.2-2.5 ohms-ish is bc the airbag is at that range if it sees a drop or increase it thinks there is an issue if it sees it in the range it thinks the airbag is plugged in i belive the other connectors that people are mentioning their cars have are like sensors for occupance and aditional motor wiring for powered seats. Usually high risk or important harnesses will be a brighter offset color like the yellow vs grey.

    Hmmmm….ok interesting. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how to deal with the differences in wiring in some 06 leather seats from a junkyard Pontiac vibe that I want to put in my 04 Toyota Matrix xrs (they’re the same car). The 06 seats don’t have side airbag but have a few more connectors and the system is more tied into the airbag. If I could do something like this I’d prefer it over cannabalizing bith seats to sway my wiring/sensor inards into the new seats. So it’s just a 2 ohm resistor? (Not at all an electrician either lol). Although…if I don’t have the seat airbag…not sure this will help me. You’re doing this to the yellow airbag connector that just has two wires correct? Essential my joining them together with the resistor in between???
    I intended to grab the chassis harness but forgot. Will go back to get this weekend.

    You think buying a whole new seat would also work?

    I am having similar issue; however, I removed seat temporarily. I am thinking to do the same thing but I noticed there are several 2 ohm resistors with varying watts. Which did you use? I have a Toyota RAV4 so likely compatible watt resistor will work. Thanks in advance for responding.

      A friend of mine told me a 2 ohm resistor was all I needed. I think the rav4 should be the same. Hope this helps.

      @@1234Scott you don’t recall he specified any watts. I saw online 1/4 watt, 1/2 watt for a 2 ohm. I will go with the 1/2 watt. Not to keen on cutting the sensor off the seat but does appear to be an easy fix to repair back to seat when I eventually reinstall seat. I was hoping there was some simpler remedy, removing a fuse or something, lol. First I will start up vehicle again and let run a while and see if that crazy flashing whole module system starts up again and stays on. May need to just put seat back. Darn. I am making more room in my rav4 for car camping. Ok, if you know of any other remedy for full seat removal let me know. I have all 3 seat sensors disconnected not just the yellow. Thanks!

    I have the opposite problem I changed my seats on my prius but the new seats in the front have 2 extra plugs each, would this work the same for me? Do I just need the plug from the other car and do the same? I have the yellow plug on both but the new seats have some power options plugs 2 extra on each

    Please explain when you have cut the wire to add a 2 ohm resistor and plugged it with airbag sensor yellow connector- then how it will deploy the airbag incase of accident?
    Thanks

    • @dannytrinh07
      @dannytrinh07 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      the yellow pig tail which was cut off from the seat was looped with 2 ohm half watt. Its purpose is to trick the car's airbag system to think that there is airbag in the seat. The airbag will deploy incase of accident. As long as the airbag light not illuminating on dashboard, car's airbags will deploy when accident happen.

      The old seat had airbags the new seat didn't have airbags. That's why it was always flashing the computer couldn't find the airbag.

    Does the airbag still work. Looks like there is no connection now?

    • @1234Scott
      @1234Scott  ปีที่แล้ว

      The seat replacement didn’t have airbags. So not having the connection the car would throw an error code.

  • @Just_Joe71

    So you are using the resistor as a jumper wire?

    • @1234Scott
      @1234Scott  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’ll sort of. If I recall correctly the airbag light would continue to stay on with a straight jumper. There needs to be resistance to make the light go off.
      I’m no electrician or electrical mechanic. One of those guys can explain properly.

    Why didn’t you take it to a car electrician

    • @keithfreitas2983
      @keithfreitas2983 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cost? Took mine to a Dealer as under warranty. They charged me $360 to tell me what was wrong. They denied the warranty because of a stain on the seat and wanted $2500 to replace the whole seat plus the $360. Told them no, so they put the seat back and the air bag light and passenger seat belt light doesn't come on anymore. Maybe the auto electrician would have been less?
