There are already clips on the net where you can see what Putin's election practices are like. Large quantities of ballot papers with Putin crosses are simply tipped into the ballot boxes. The whole thing was nothing more than a nasty Punch and Judy show. He is only elected by the own criminals, stupid and R1-souled. You're correct. Russia was in such a state in 1991 that it was always going to take a decade to start showing signs of recovery. Unfortunately, Putin arrived just when they were starting to become noticeable and has been taking all the credit ever since. The poverty in the 90s wasn't because of the reforms it was because the plaster had been ripped off the communist state and the rot was in plain view for all to see.
