Met Bob Costas at a book signing years ago. I said, “You’re the best baseball guy on tv.” He said, “Thanks” without looking up. I said, “No, thank you, Mr. McCarver.” He turns to his attendant and says, “There’s one in EVERY group, isn’t there?!” And so I said, “Well, I was originally going to say, “I have missed you so much since they took Mr. Belvedere off the air,” but I couldn’t decide. He leaned back, genuinely laughed, then stood and shook my hand. “THAT was your ‘A’ material!!” Great guy. And Uek is in a class all his own.
Bob Ueaker needs to be introduced to more younger players/fans. He epitomized the spirit of baseball. His fun loving attitude towards the game reminded everyone that it was just that. A spectacular game. Played by the heroes of children and men alike.
when Uke finally hits his eternal home run, the city of Milwaukee is going to be closed for a couple days.. Just don't even bother coming here. He IS the Brewers for so many of us Wisconsinites.. His voice IS baseball to millions. Absolutely the top of the heap.
Hell, I love baseball so much, here I am, a devout Tigers fan, watching the Brewers and I'm enjoying the game anyway. These two are pros, REAL pros! Bob Costas never misses a beat w/that unofficial play by play. And Uecker cool guy he is, just sits back and lets him go. Love it!
Talk about a dream team. You can tell Costas knows 100% who he is sitting next to. And that person is one of the most gracious, humble broadcasters in the history of the game. And maybe in the top five all time. These two both just love the game. What a game. I wish I could have caught this live. Uecker is every player’s and fan’s best friend. Costas is the velvety sound of reason. I hate cliches, but this is pure gold. I’m not sure I’ve earned the right to enjoy this.
I must admit, Uecker rules the roost, but Don Orsillo carries that same light-hearted spirit and Sox ownership sent him packing...damn fools took our joy...
The two of them were great together on NBC. Too bad it was so short-lived. A ground ball up the first base side spins foul and Costas says, "Ueck, that had more English on it than Mr Belvedere."
Wow never thought I’d hear this again. Was working as a pizza delivery driver just out of high school and flipped on the brewer game during a delivery and heard Costas and Ueck and went “NO WAY” even detoured on my way back to work so I could listen longer lol never did I think I’d see/hear this again
Uecker sure ia awesome...back in the mid 60's I remember when I got his BB card..I didn't know how to pronounce his last name...so I turned to my buddy and asked him...didn't know either..don't remember when we found out either. But like Bob said in his HOF speech..."Baseball is No.1"......thanks Bob !!
Ueker letting FNG Costas take over the play by play is just another example of what a class act Bob is. I like both of these guys. I have seen every Bob Ueker appearance on The Tonight Show. It was Carson who gave him the Moniker “Mr. Baseball.”
I dont care what he's done, how many stories he's covered, how many interviews he had, games covered, eyes red at the Olympics. Bob Costas should be silent and let a great one speak.
This broadcast team works ONLY if Uecker takes the lead. Costas makes it farcical, just like he did in the late-1990s when he started to overbabble. Have always thought Uecker was MLB's best play-by-play voice, even and especially during Scully's last years behind the mike.
1:35 ... so when Bob Costas has had wine he becomes Jerry Seinfeldesque? #JerryBelvedere People like Uecker and Costas make baseball broadcasts fun and engaging.
Two more reasons why I love the game of baseball. Our National past time. America's game. Americana at its core. The powers that be need to quit messing with it. Leave the game alone. Stop trying to speed it up. Extra innings runner at 2nd ( NO ) ( barf ) stop that. Automatic walk ( NO )
I was at this game. it was the unveiling of the Bob Uecker Statue; costas and Uecker are professionally hammered, and it is funnier than hell. i remember listening to the game in the stands, and geeking out at costas talking about drinking too much wine.
Nice try Costas. Problem is... to be funny, as Uecker is a genius at, you’ll never rise to that level, because you’ve sold out to the political class like all Mockingbird media talking heads. Uecker and Johnny Carson were the best!
Mike Such Really? All those years starring in Mr. Belvedere and all those Johnny Carson appearances don’t mean nothing? Maybe if you are a 12 year old you don’t know but you’d be missing a National treasure
Not to mention an announcer for a MLB team for over 45 years, WS winner, caught Bob Gibson, homered off Sandy Koufax, etc.. Really, really, really stupid comment.

Everybody in the majors loves Ueks
I’ve watched videos of him walk it up to them at batting practice
Ueck is a god damn national treasure
Absolutely.
Plus he was on Mr. Belvedere
@@ShootYourRadio my mom watched that show all the time and she didn't know Uecker the entire time.
He was also the greatest .195 hitting catcher.
@@vanmoody Career credited @ .200 ba
@@jaywilson2600 He also hit a home runs off hall of fame pitchers Sandy Koufax, Gaylord Perry, and Fergie Jenkins.

Two legends of broadcasting.

I am Detroit fan too. Gooooo Tigers!

Costas and Uecker including Joe Morgan tight friends since NBC Sports back in the 90s.
Uecker is the best ever!
I must admit, Uecker rules the roost, but Don Orsillo carries that same light-hearted spirit and Sox ownership sent him packing...damn fools took our joy...
Be sure to TH-cam his beer commercials! A staple when I was younger!
I always get the best Uecker seats when I go to a game. Always in the front row too...of the upper upper jet stream deck.
Hey, those are my seats!
The two of them were great together on NBC. Too bad it was so short-lived. A ground ball up the first base side spins foul and Costas says, "Ueck, that had more English on it than Mr Belvedere."

Remember Aramis Ramirez? Feels like he hasn't played in forever
"I'd love to get with that trollop".
T Tanizawa Norm and Artie’s story? Lol the best
That bar looks like it has a lot of good cock in it!
"I figured you'd cover for me"
"I always have"
Lmao two legends

Bob ueaker is absolutely amazing. I would love to hang out with that guy for even a hour! Bet he is so fun to hang out with.
lol, took a couple beats for costas to get the "sit down and relax, you're a little tight".
ueker has the ability of making anyone sound cool I can see why teams kept him around class act
Norm Macdonald said Bob uecker was the funniest person he's ever met now that's high praise
imagine the best stadium on earth dollar beer night and Vin skully and bob uecker call the game
Disco sucks night
This should happen so much more…
i really wish Bob has a world Series and Brew Crew
how can people not like this video???
It feels a little awkward and forced to me.
Is there a video somewhere of bob reciting the Soldier thing? I want to see and hear him tell it
Hang on, I got a meeting with the Bobs.
"Sit down and relax." LMAO
aramis ramirez used to rake
Is there an Office Space joke here? The Bob's ?
Who believes I am Bob Ueckers second cousin
well after seeing this comment on every one of Bob's videos I'd say i do lol

So true
Costas could announce a dog show and be great at it!
I miss the Saturday game of the week with Costas and Kubek.
Ueck looks like he is at the beach drinking a mai tai
Solid gold
JUST A LITTLE BIT OUTSIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
robert szvetics one hit that's all we got is one god damn hit. you can't say good on the air . that's ok nobody's listening any way
1:35 ... so when Bob Costas has had wine he becomes Jerry Seinfeldesque?
#JerryBelvedere
People like Uecker and Costas make baseball broadcasts fun and engaging.
Guys calling games today just give oral dissertations on pitching theory or else talk smug. In these dark times, I turn to Uke to remember the light.
Thank god for that...he is EXACTLY what we all need
Shoot! Costas is a light weight. Harry Carey would have had a case of beer down by the 2nd inning.
Well, not too much difference between the Pirates of 2012 and 2020! -mikenotpaula
Look at that Thrall.
I take it you don't read the papers?
You'd be right.
Lol
Costas turned into Seinfeld.
They misspelled William Shatner

Costas is in love with his own voice, what a J.O.
Loveit
1:20- “Gooooood…Re-e-e-a-a-l goooood…” 😜
Hey Bob eueks got this down
The kind of thing you only see in a blowout game.
Should have known it would involve the "Yuccos". :(
Ha. “Sit down.”
Costas is trying too hard here and Ueck is a natural.
he getting alittle to personal for me hahaha
Don't understand the point of this video...
No one does......
Bill Smith fuck both of you
I was at this game. it was the unveiling of the Bob Uecker Statue; costas and Uecker are professionally hammered, and it is funnier than hell. i remember listening to the game in the stands, and geeking out at costas talking about drinking too much wine.
Understand this! You should not be WATCHING THIS, NOW GO TO BED!!!!!!

Think he’s one of those liberals?
Calm down guy…
if it weren't for the beer commercials and the movie Major League half the nation won't even know who he is that's half the nation doesn't care.
stupid comment

You phucked your baseball cred. If you ever had any.
I'm not sure I understand why this was posted. Not particularly funny.
Costas always sucked as a announcer in any venue and always will.
Bob Costas … not funny at all 👎
Costas talks too much.
Costass SUCKS as always.
