  • America, Saudi Arabia and Russia are the three largest oil producing countries with over 30 million barrels per day between them. Oil. Black gold. It makes the world go round. In the early 1970’s, the USA nearly lost its fairly recent reserve currency status. However, they had a clever trick up their sleeve. Having stopped using gold to back their currency, they convinced Saudi Arabia that all oil trades should be in US dollars (in exchange for protection and technology). Suddenly, there was large new demand for US dollars which allowed for the printing of more currency without inflation. There have been a number of arguments on just how much dollar creation this has allowed. Some suggest that it’s overplayed. Others think it provides a huge opportunity. Regardless, the US has protected its monopoly vigorously with some theorising that the overthrow and death of Gadaffi by NATO in 2011 was due to his refusal to recycle petro dollars through US investment banks.

You sound like you work for the US government 😊
That would increase inflation even more if there isn't a corresponding rise in demand.
