The Viper is epic. I have owned my Gen V GTS for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it. I just took it on a 2500 mile road trip with my son and it performed flawlessly. Each way was a little under 16 hrs of straight driving, and the car didn't use a drop of oil. There was no drama on the trip, and that's the way I like it. Keep up the good work Dodge/SRT. You guys are killing it.
You are so welcome Brian. You are clearly talented and enjoy what you do. When those to things come together, well, the result is a fantastic piece of work, such as the one you have provided. On behalf of myself, and the Viper community, thank-you, and keep up the good work!!
Thanks again, Lee! It's not just me, though. Nick is the man behind the camera and Russ, well, we're not really sure what Russ does, but we think he helps. We're working on another couple of Viper vids that I'm sure you'll like.
Woops. Sorry I left out Nick and Russ. Send my regards ;) More Viper vids? Awesome. I can't wait. Just a suggestion, it would be interesting to see a comparison between the old ACR vs. New ACR; or Gen V GTS (like mine) vs. ACR........ Cheers.
+Ifyouknow Youknow I haven't driven a 13 or newer but I have rode in one and it was miles better than the 04 Viper that I drove. The 04 was really fun to drive though.
As a hardcore race fan this is my ultimate dream car - both in performance level and appearance! When I was a kid I always thought how could it would be to drive a race car to work every day. This is probably as close as you can get, particularly when it comes to performance per dollar.
Jesus christ, first the C7 corvette, the new Ford GT and now this... looks like the american supercar is back and on it's way to kick some european ass.
+nj4ck Not unless your a pro driver. C7 doesn't handle very well, nobody has tested the GT yet, and the Viper, while its limits are extremely high, average driver might be able to drive at half of them. Put him at a stoplight, or on a track against something like a Porsche 911 Turbo S or GT3 and the Viper will likely get wrecked unless their is a very experienced driver in the seat. I feel the Viper is honestly a poser car. People buy it and then start throwing around its lap records on certain tracks or saying its 0-60 or 1/4mile time, but most people can't achieve that, no way in hell. Whereas, you get a guy in a Porsche 911 Turbo S, launch control, and its going to run 2.6-2.8 second 0-60 times and under 10.7-10.9 1/4 mile times all day long. When a vehicle you buy can actually perform the numbers it says it can, with YOU behind the wheel, not some race car, that is an achievement. Buying the Viper and bragging about its performance without being able to unlock that performance yourself is like buying a Space Shuttle and saying "you know if I was an astronaut and the stats aligned just perfectly I could go to space in that thing". Pretty lame in my opinion.
sexyitalian891 First off, since when does the C7 handle bad? I admit I haven't yet driven one, but that's the first time I'm hearing that. The Z06 pulls 1.2 lateral Gs, that is hardly a sign of "bad handling". Secondly, of course some othe cars are slightly easier to drive for an amateur, but I don't get your definition of a "good" sports car. Is a car only good if it's pumped so full of electronics and assists that even a complete idiot can drive it? I don't think so. And Btw, the 911 doesn't drive that easily, either. Heck, they even need rear wheel steering to keep the understeer under control. You want an easy-to-drive car, get the Cayman. I've always preferred cars that are fun, and fun for me is when driving them requires actual work. If the car does everything for you, that's no fun. I'd rather have occasional oversteer than constant understeer.
nj4ck Eh, the new Z06 pulls high numbers but couldn't put it all together when motor trend tested it against the GTR Nismo. It was being out-accelerated and out-handled on the track by the Nismo, which has worse tires. The only place the Z06 gained time was in the braking zone. Also, 650hp 650lbft, can you say over steer? Honestly the car would probably be faster on track and in a straight line with 150lbft less torque, too much just spins the wheels. As to the Porsche, I agree its setup is not ideal but they have done incredible things with the car, technically it shouldn't work but it does, they have prestige and look how many they sell. It isn't even a gimmick, every 911, even the base handles great with no options. And you don't need to be a race car driver to feel like your getting close. Electronic assists are now a part of how cars built. I would dare a new driver to take the assists off that new Corvette, they are there for good reason, and unlike a lot of posers on the internet, I'm damn glad they are there to keep a novice driver like myself out of trouble. In the end, different strokes for different folks, but I respect that companies like Porsche can make a solid car that performs well, and Joe blow who buys it can actually get some of the same numbers out of it that you see in the magazines.
+sexyitalian891 Motor Trend was the only test I can remember that had the GTR winning. They also tested a manual Z06 against an automatic GTR, with a driver who was obviously very uncomfortable with oversteer. I agree that the GTR is certainly easier to drive, but I strongly disagree in saying that that makes it a better car.
Gabe adorno Is it really though? The top of the line corvette Z06 3JZ will run you 90,000 dollars, without all the options. This car here, you can get for 120,000. Given the price gap, who would compromise for that amount of money?
+Marcello Penk-Masucci Why not get a Tesla? 0-60 in 2.8 seconds in a 4 door family sedan? Make people in Vipers, Lambos, and other "performance" cars look silly.
dobbins2550 the only thing this car have over the 918 and P1 is probaly speed....the 918 and P1 is not just about speed, its about luxury, performance and prestige. if given the choice I rather take the P1, just because I want the whole package, not just speed.
I am the lucky lucky own of two Dodge Viper ACRs. I have the Gen 4 2010 Snake Skin edition #28 of 30 with 472 miles. Now the Gen 5 2017 GTS-R #26 of 100 with 7 miles in factory wrapping. Just looking at them in my garage every day is a dream come true and a honor !!
+Brian Makse we are glad you do! I instruct with Porsche club so am hoping I end up with a student with one:).. my other hope is to make it work on a used one in 2 yrs. A gal can only dream watching you tube right now haha.
The cayman GTS is a different car for a different consumer. This viper is sort of like a trophy that you keep in your garage for an occasional track outing with your friends on weekends and it's just that. Whereas the cayman GTS is a calmer car that can even do weekdays. Great review Brian!
Well....!!! Looks like the Dodge Viper guys got their stuff together to make an absolute gem of a super-car ...a world-beater....esp at that price range. Good Job !!!
This was a great vid and keep these Dodge Vids coming. Mann were you really doing 100 mph on those corners? good gracious that is a selling point right there
ytwizzle Motion sickness started to set in with me watching the remote view on my phone from the passenger seat! (wifi tether the video camera to my phone)
Creighton McDermott can't leave a direct reply (check your privacy settings or whatever) but we had an SRT engineer and all around great racer driving a Viper GTS for our car-to-car filming. Pretty cool, huh?
Great Review! Actually this makes me want a used TA to add to my stable since a lot of owners will be trading up. Can I borrow an ACR for a weekend to see how it's to drive on Long Island roads?
What would be even better, is a 1,200 HP Supercharged Viper ACR. Not sure anyone could handle the power but with good traction control and stability control and think it would be worth the effort.
The next level up is that 9.0 Liter stroker program by it's V10 creator Dick Winkles, now at Prefix [FCA powertrain contractor]. 820 rwhp at only 3270 lbs with BBG headers and titanium exhaust.
Brian Makse And a sequential gearbox. Makes a difference too, right? In that case it would probably be faster than a GTS-R because that thing doesn't run 640hp. How funny that normally when a company goes racing with a roadlegal car, they have to increase the horsepower on the engine. With the viper they have to detune it however.
Blue one with black center band and black wing and carbon fiber in and out is on order ! I added the 10 speaker Harmon-Karden sound to mine...personal preference..also red stitching on black interior...Excited.........
+Nick Busato It has to be built yet...SRT won't tell me yet when I am going to get it.....they just said it is going to be started in October......it will be a one off concierge A.C.R. unique to me with a dash plaque and all the trimmings..but I will post pics and a review for sure...... Thanks Much.....
inchskater This ACR is pretty bad ass and I think extreme is the right world, despite my reluctance to use it. The Cayman GTS, on the other hand, is a wonderful, if slower, all arounder.
Finaly an American car that I think would give me the same enjoyment as a Porsche Cayman GT4 or a 911 GT 3 (RS) as well on road as track , great job Dodge ...
Hey Brian , Got a !4 T/A, Wish Too Get The ACR , Not Much Of A Track Car Guy , But Will Do The 1of1 Program On A Base ACR,I've Got The 15k Coupon To Burn, HOw Do You Think It May Ride On The Street Compared To The T/A ?? Go T/A 2.0 Or Base ACR??
daseteam Sorry, but this ACR is in it's own class. The Z has nothing on this car. The RS can't compete with the Z and to think that the GT350R can compete, is ridiculous. Sorry. The king is back. The RS ran 7:20 around the Ring, 8 seconds behind the old ACR. The Z can't beat the old ACR either. GM refuses to report times, says a lot.
+Angel S Viper is just faster and cost a lot more. Throw a super charger on a GT350, and do a couple more mods and you have a Viper Killer that cost less and looks better
No complaints about the new VIPER. Of course I haven't seen 1 on the road. Other than the wing? Is it possible to get 1 without it? Makes the car stand out more than I would like 2 in my opinion.
Any timeframe on when/if they will be taking them to Laguna or the 'Ring? What is your feeling of this versus the '08-'10 ACRs? Also I'm surprised at the 6K price on the extreme aero. I was thinking at least 15. That's really good news and I hope to see some official times from Dodge soon.
DobieDoxie I think they already have lap times from the more popular NA tracks. Its just a question of when or if they feel like posting them. The ring on the other hand might not ever happen with the current ban on ring times.
Yeah you're probably right. I had heard about the 'Ring. Thought it was a joke. Nope. This is what happens when you have fans sitting next to a fence at the end of a high speed braking zone. Their decision is highly disappointing. I'd assume someone has some rudimentary numbers from VIR as well. Just real interested to see where it lines up. I have my own thoughts.
***** It must be optional or maybe our review car was pre production. The car we filmed back at the plant had the TA CF brace, as does many of the official ACR photos.
Well I'm not making any claims.. But the OLD Dodge Viper ACR still holds 7th place for fastest car ever around the Nurburgring. That's only 4 seconds slower than the newest Nismo Nissan GTR. So yeah.. I don't think comparing the corvette is very fair huh?
+Emmanuel Wang Exactly. You can actually Daily Drive a Z06, I'd bet not one person will ever be daily driving an ACR. It's really two different design philosophies if Chevy wanted to they could easily make a Corvette with a big ass wing on the rear to destroy the competition but that's just not what they're going for with the Z06 they want a car that's drive-able too.
+Zach Brown 24 hour turn around thats how. In a lot of these videos me and Brian are burning the midnight oil trying to get these reviews edited before embargoes lift. Sometimes we have a lot of time, other events its 24 hours... or less.
Brian Makse yes, good point ... but, what about for bragging rights? ... and, for when all the Europeans keep telling us how our US cars are over-powered lumbering beasts that are only good for straight tracks?
So our beloved (not) Marchionne didn't screw the Viper over. THAT is surprising. When the FCA plague started to spread to the US we, in Italy, wondered if Evil Sergio would've Lancia'ed Dodge brand too.
omfg i want this for a daily driver. id put a rollcage, take out those 3 speakers, full harness and id have a sequential gearbox just to go full blown race mode and fuckin ruin anyone who doubts its function
The Viper is epic. I have owned my Gen V GTS for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it. I just took it on a 2500 mile road trip with my son and it performed flawlessly. The Dodge Viper is my top favorite super car.
+Ifyouknow Youknow IMO they are the Best American Super car and they are falsely accused of being scary and hard to drive
+Ifyouknow Youknow I haven't driven a 13 or newer but I have rode in one and it was miles better than the 04 Viper that I drove. The 04 was really fun to drive though.
Has been since i was 5. I got to sit in a rt10 when i was 10, so imagine how i was feeling.
Porsche's sharpest track tool, the GT3RS has a down force of 345kg. The Viper ACR 770kg. This is just awesome and insane :D
It's faster than the Porsche gt3 RS too
+S Nguyen its insane!
Umm,the Viper has a 8.4L V10 and the GT3Rs has a 4.0L 6 cylinder,what do you expect
You moron.
@@jasonn2284 This is faster then a 2018 Porsche GT3RS? I don't think so...

Any car below 500K will not compete with this. I bet you that this car will compete with the 918/P1 around Laguna SECA.
dobbins2550 the only thing this car have over the 918 and P1 is probaly speed....the 918 and P1 is not just about speed, its about luxury, performance and prestige.
if given the choice I rather take the P1, just because I want the whole package, not just speed.
dobbins2550 I'd even put my money on it beating them around the nürburgring. It's hard to compete with that much downforce.
trilingualkid that's why the P1 and 918 are primarily luxury cars, this is more like a LM GTE car for people who are serious about track days.
It is fun to watch these reviews, even after production stopped. Drivers rave this car on the track (where is longs to be).
This driver has raced Vipers, so there's a reason he raves.
Nice work!
Brian Makse Thank you Brian.
I have a 2008 Viper ACR and it's pretty darn short of amazing, I can only imagine what this thing would be like to drive on the track!!!!
+Leslie McLaughlin I raced in Viper Cup and as formidable and enjoyable as your car is, I think you'll be blown away by this one.
+Brian Makse I could only BEGIN to imagine!

What a Great car. I have a 01 GTS and Love it To me its the Best car on the road. Maybe one day I'll get a newer ACR.

what a beautiful car. thanks for the video.

mgspw13 Happy to oblige! Thanks for watching!
that is the car I'm getting when I'm older
That ACR is definitely a car for me. Plus a Raptor, boat, motorcycle and a private jet. Yup that about completes all occasions.
real talk Private jets are overrated.
why the hell people give it dislike for this awesome car?
some might be just dont like acr package, just like my friends that prefer atleast TA package instead of that extreme aero track oriented car.
Great review Brian. Got a TA a few months ago, even though i track it alot im not sure i wanna give up the street usage.
I can see your point. The ACR Extreme would be interesting on the street. By interesting I mean impossible with driveways.
2 seconds faster than the 918 in laguna sega.
omg you're gorgeous
+MonroeSim fuccboi
+MonroeSim the thirst is strong in this one.
I agree
What channel recorded it?

Brian, I keep coming back to watch this video.
+H Mack we can't fault you for that! I think it's still #1!
+Brian Makse right on
DREAM CAR!
Damn! SRT means Business with this ACR
Great video well filmed I'm liking the viper even more good job
+garydeandeery Thanks mate!
Great Review! Actually this makes me want a used TA to add to my stable since a lot of owners will be trading up.
Can I borrow an ACR for a weekend to see how it's to drive on Long Island roads?
when people ask me when i get rich what will i get. I tell them a viper is on that list :). still dreaming to own one, new or old.
You should check out a Viper with Tractive Suspension... would make the ACR even more of a beast and more livable.
With all that aero, it better be glued to the asphalt!
God that car is bad ass!!! Would love to have one. Can't afford one, but would love to have one.
This is a huge American middle finger to the European Hypercars! Great jod Douge and American!
+Dirty Burley Boarders They really killed it with this one!
Like plaid on a hipster, best line ever ahah
+Testosterone Driven So completely and utterly true. And the best part is that those bearded, participation trophy owners don't understand this car.
Brian Makse Perfect statement. "Who do you need 700 hp? 120hp is more than enough. I get 5mph, how about you?"
What would be even better, is a 1,200 HP Supercharged Viper ACR. Not sure anyone could handle the power but with good traction control and stability control and think it would be worth the effort.
what a Beast!

Kalsonic You're absolutely right. This thing just needs a cage and a seat.
Brian Makse And a sequential gearbox. Makes a difference too, right? In that case it would probably be faster than a GTS-R because that thing doesn't run 640hp. The Dodge Viper looks badass in different colours like red and black or blue and black
I am a vette guy I own a c6 zr1 but damn this ACR is killing it can't wait to see it destroy some lambo's Ferraris , and GTR's on the track
Blue one with black center band and black wing and carbon fiber in and out is on order ! I added the 10 speaker Harmon-Karden sound to mine...personal preference..also red stitching on black interior...Excited.........

+VIPERICH4 There is a small chance I may be at the viper plant at that time. I will give you a heads up I am.
+Nick Busato Thanxxxx very much........Nick....
top notch review right here.
Thanks, it's an old one.
What car did y'all use for filming, because it stayed ahead and stuck the curves smoothly.
+Creighton McDermott It was another Viper :)
Holy shit this car is so nice
Awesome the new ACR is bad ass. Who ever thumbs down the video can eat shit. Can't wait to see it break new track lap records.
We couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching!
Good video, thanks for uploading.
+lpg12338 Thanks!
Dodge loves their angry headlights, and so do I.
Quite a thing! Nice review! But i think you are right, not a car for me. I guess a Cayman GTS would be all the sports car I need/want.

marleynl M A N U A L O N L Y! Based Viper.
My father owns one, 2013 dodge viper gts. Looks lit.
Hard to see though.
brian how is the overall build quality of this car?
Powertrain??? Some people say its Engine does 162mph but with the aeros it does 177mph which is still slow, which gives me chills.

Thanks Brian, it would be interesting to see a back to back with the Porsche GT3 RS.
daseteam Agreed! We'd love to do it! But it's massively unlikely, so we'll have to leave it to the buff books.
daseteam Chevy ZO6 vs Viper ACR vs Ford GT350R vs Porsche GT3 RS - the ultimate track car battle!
Philip Mazloumian gt350r would be out of its league. Ford would use its 2016 GT, that would be something to witness.
real talk I agree the GT350R is more along the lines of the Z/28

+Quincy Hall Just get the TA then. ACR is a no compromises car, taking the wing off... well compromises it.
F%#K, I want one!
I understand.
Brian Makse Great review!!! Both genuine and informative. I could tell you were having a blast. We are all very very envious.........
Lee Douglas Thanks, Lee! Just saw your comment now, but a month later, I'm still dreaming about the ACR. What a freaking car...
Would of been nice to actually hear the engine. Wish Top Gear was still around
Can't wait to see this car destroy the Nurburgring!
Hope so. Hard to say if the ring will permit it.
Nice caa mate
I didn't even know they kept making them
13 SCCA Certified Track Records
Ever since juiced on ps2 i wanted this car so bad.. if i ever have stupid money this would be the toy for me.
+Jack Dixy For me it was GT3 on PS2 ;)
Why a ACR-X? the GT3-R is on sale :D
Fernando Opoka Have you priced a GT3-R?
Brian Makse 400.000? but, he want a full track car anyway
What's the GT3-R made for?
sorry for my bad english, i want to say, "he only want a track version of the Snake anyway, the price dosnt matter. :p ... for him...
I hope motor trend takes this and the zo7 fight it out.
You know they will. And they'll have to hire a racing driver for the story.
Randy of course.
Ha I saw the body kit and just noticed that's the Bravado Banshee 900R
+Jonathan Bellomy GTA fans I see
ACR - adaptive combat rifle?! MW3? what? lol
+RxSwolldier Haha, I have not touched that series since MW1.
lol mw2
lol mw2
American Club Racer
call of duty "Modern Warfare 3"
Brian.. "Ridiculously" .. we've got it ..
How does it compare to 911 GT3 on the track?
*Cries tears of joy*
Wish it had 4 seats, wife says we need to find a nice family car :p guess I'm stuck with the Ford fusion... *sigh
Hellcat!
Brian M Chevy ss. Dodge Charger r/t scat pack.
Brian M What they said...
Brian M Get a divorce its way cheaper
+CopyCat best comment ever!!! Lmao
Looks very good ,!
This is Dodges chance to show they have ultimate track car. Now let's see this vs a Piece GT3, Nismo GTR or ZO6
Dream Car🙌🏼(besides the Huayra, but let's be realistic.)
great and lovly model
earned sub.+like!
+Dynamite Kid Thanks, Kid!
You're most welcome Sir Brian Makse! Drive safely okay!
Wonder why their using the Aluminum X brace over the Carbon Fiber on that was on the TA?
Good question. One thing is that all the cars in our video are preproduction.
***** It must be optional or maybe our review car was pre production. The car we filmed back at the plant had the TA CF brace, as does many of the official ACR photos.
Brian Makse The carbon X-brace is optional on the ACR.
+Kyle Coffey Thanks mate, I figured that was the case.
The Harman Kardon audio system upgrade is an worthy option.
that engine is the only soundtrack you need
Does this acr version have recoil?
+Max Davila Nothing the crazy strong aim assist on COD cant fix...
So which one is the best, fastest and more expensive american car? This one or the corvette stingray 2016?
Well I'm not making any claims.. But the OLD Dodge Viper ACR still holds 7th place for fastest car ever around the Nurburgring. That's only 4 seconds slower than the newest Nismo Nissan GTR. So yeah.. I don't think comparing the corvette is very fair huh?
The corvette does not even come close in comparison to this monster of a car
The acr is like a race car for the road where z06 is road car for the track
+Emmanuel Wang Exactly. You can actually Daily Drive a Z06, I'd bet not one person will ever be daily driving an ACR. It's really two different design philosophies if Chevy wanted to they could easily make a Corvette with a big ass wing on the rear to destroy the competition but that's just not what they're going for with the Z06 they want a car that's drive-able too.
The car is street legal right?
Awesomeness101 Yep!
you mean that you WOULD be surprised if there weren't a mule being tested right now...how did that get past the editor?
+Zach Brown 24 hour turn around thats how. In a lot of these videos me and Brian are burning the midnight oil trying to get these reviews edited before embargoes lift. Sometimes we have a lot of time, other events its 24 hours... or less.
No, I meant what I said.
is it ok to drive that in the rain? the bonnet has so many holes!
Of course you can drive it in the rain.
When are they going to run this at Nürburgring?
+MaximGhos There's no point. They've destroyed all of the track records in the US.
Brian Makse yes, good point ... but, what about for bragging rights? ... and, for when all the Europeans keep telling us how our US cars are over-powered lumbering beasts that are only good for straight tracks?
Man I hope they revive the viper project in the future ) :
That's not looking likely this time.
Brian Makse ) : I really don't want to get a used viper in 3 yrs..) :) :) :
Plan on it, but most owners don't drive them much so you'll be able to find a low mile car easily.
i think alot of people became viper fans after playing test drive back in the day lol
It's a superstar on a dry road but try driving it in the rain.
So our beloved (not) Marchionne didn't screw the Viper over. THAT is surprising. When the FCA plague started to spread to the US we, in Italy, wondered if Evil Sergio would've Lancia'ed Dodge brand too.
My Dream Girl!
omfg i want this for a daily driver. id put a rollcage, take out those 3 speakers, full harness and id have a sequential gearbox just to go full blown race mode and fuckin ruin anyone who doubts its function
