- The Viper was killed off my Dodge and 2017 was the final year of production. This Viper GTC takes the GTS platform to another level. Under the hood is an 8.4L V10 that is pumping out 645HP & mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the outside you will find very aggressive styling, 18/19in wheel setup, and brakes. On the inside the fit and finish is at the highest level of an other generation of the Viper. It also includes an 8.4in infotainment system and plenty of cargo space. Is the 2017 Dodge Viper GTC a sports car worth the price?

I remember being a little boy and getting a toy viper ,I thought it was such a beautiful car then and nothing has changed my mind about it. One of the greatest car ever built.

I've never seen you so happy driving a car lol. Vipers are something else, nothing like can compare. I'm blessed to own a Viper ACR. I still watch every Viper video like I've never seen them before. Great review as always!!

I was obsessed with these cars as a kid.
I would draw them, read books about them, and even made a small clay model that I kept in the freezer. I would download videos and pictures from limewire with my “AOL” cd dial-up modem lol
Now that I think about it; I just love the way it looks.
My school folders would be filled with viper pictures that I had printed from the local copy shop.
I would ride my bike there and even had it stolen in the process. It was one of the first things that I was eager to spend my money on.
Idk if I would have liked it so much if it wasn’t so fast 🤔 I told myself that I wasn’t going to get one but you know what? F*ck it 😈 we’re lucky to be alive.
We found the bike about 30 min later. Someone ditched it 3 blocks away next to a KFC lol

This car is so criminally underrated and it still looks beautiful and modern today. What a timeless design and all that power mated to a 6-speed manual make it even more special now in a world full of flappy paddle automatics. This is definitely another dream car for me. Thank you for sharing and well done! SUCH a shame this car is discontinued. Your word and emotion when talking about this car...I'm with you brother! Who needs engine sound piped in through the speakers when you are literally sitting over the exhaust. Man, I really do miss this car. Too bad I am not in a position to get one right now so I really appreciate this review. Such a special, special car for the real car enthusiast. BTW those shots with that huge American flag waving through the windows were just so fitting with this car. Perfect!
I rode in one of these a few years ago and the acceleration is brutal! The car is deafening and it is 100% percent worth it. And seeing the snake pop up when it goes up the rev range is amazing!

No matter whether Dodge stopped producing this, this is still one of the best V 10 sports car we had.

I've been fortunate to own my Viper for 3 years this summer. It's awesome the reaction it generates in everyone. Always someone wanting to look or just stoked as you go by. Never thought I'd have the chance to own one but made the plunge and love it.

This one, the R8, the LFA. There's just nothing like the sound of a V10. They're music instruments. But the Viper is sexy in a way the R8 and LFA can't match. And you got to drive it! You are the man!
Had a few Vipers. Best transmission & clutch take-up/feel of any/every car I’ve ever owned (at least 40+). Love em. Best Dodge ever. Regret selling mine. I miss you, Viper!

I would love to see a review on an old Plymouth Prowler as well! I know they only had the V6 in them, but man, they were sexy as well! Amazing review as always Joe!

I have always absolutely loved vipers. They look amazing and the curves are just right along with how low and wide they are. Will forever be an iconic car, I just wish there were more driving around so I could see them and appreciate more in person.

I was detailing cars for a Lincoln-Mercury dealership when the Viper first launched. I remember thinking how much of a game changer it was. I love how they finished the run. This is a true super car. Bring it back, Dodge!

Been a dodge ( Mopar) owner since I was 17 yrs old.My dad gave me my first dodge when I was in highschool.A 1985 dodge ram pickup,with a 318 small block.Ever since then I've had Dodge all my time until today.25 yrs owning dodge.Proud as hell to be a Mopar owner.And will till the day I die.

Incredible car. Usually you see the blue, green, or orange cars, but somehow this one in silver with the beige leather is pretty classy. I hear these cars are beasts to drive but the looks are absolutely incredible, and i bet you feel like superman driving one.

Great review.... However somethings you may not have been aware of, this viper new started at 89k. The Prices have definitely increased over the last year. 130k would have been in line for a new Viper ACR back in 2017. The top speed is not 190mph but more like 206mph. The one thing you kept saying is the the older Gen Vipers wish they had this interior, that is not really true for most of us. We love how raw the Viper was before all these Traction Control and ABS brakes ect. Driving a pre 2001 Viper will give you more of a rush than the later models because it takes more skill to drive them hard. The Gen 5 is an amazing car no doubt.. 😉🐍

Love it had manual scat pack shaker Challenger and this car is even sicker! Looks better without that huge rear spoiler just the way this is.I love unique vehicles like this with a soul,it makes you work to enjoy it but oh what a thrill that must be
Awesome review Joe, I have been a fan of the viper since elementary school. Disappointed that they discontinued it. But you know what? It makes it even more special. I have seen more c8 corvettes than Gen V vipers, and the viper has been out since 2013, that tells you somethin about the snake

It's crazy how much the Viper improved over the original, which was so cheaply finished it was embarrassing. Like Joe says, the quality of the fit and finish in 1992 was almost nonexistent. Sad that it finally started becoming a real car, and not just a giant engine bolted to a chassis, right before going out of production.

Man, I'm a Vette guy but still have a soft spot for the Viper. Really hope to see this car come back soon. If they threw a DCT in there as an option to help sell the car to the "manual only" crowd I think the sales would help it be a true competitor to the Vette. Also would give people who prefer front-engine an alternative. But it's gotta keep the V10 no matter what! Even if it were to downsize to a more European displacement such as the Huracan.

I inquired about that Viper a few weeks back. Not my favorite spec with the interior. However, I am taking delivery of my 2nd Gen 5 viper Tuesday. Amazing and exhilarating car. Dodge should bring them back retaining the v10 and a manual Trans.

Ok guys, pay close attention to Joe's expressions while driving this car. That tells you how special of a vehicle this is. To sum up this car in one word, "Visceral". To get this kind of performance from a na car is ridiculous. It's not often I say this car is worth that much money, but this one is. Lori as always, excellent work on the camera !
