Thanks for this video it brings back so many memories. I first saw Aretha Franklin in this form as a boy. The red hair and foxy look. When she maintained her weight she was a beauty.
I have never heard a live version of Jump or Look Into Your Heart. She knocked it out of the park and looking oh so FINE while doing it! And shout out to cousin Brenda who was feeling Jump. Now if we could only see the full performance when she did Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing, Angel and Without Love on Dinah Shore.
That voice was on point. WOW. If she would've stop smoking at this point that voice would've got back to original state. I always imagine had she never smoke how big her voice would be.
exactly! it’s such a shame we didn’t have a chance to witness a more natural path of her vocal development. we all know aretha’s life wasn’t that easy which is the reason for chain smoking, and that’s her body after all. but I cannot help but feeling a bit sad every time I think what a once-in-lifetime diamond we all lost with that unique voice. still grateful for what we have 🙏🏼
I cried when Aretha died. I've loved her and her music since I was a pre-teen. I'm 68 now and I still believe she is still my favorite singer. Rest in Paradise Queen.
@@alexforest1 I always said to myself after seeing so many famous people pass away, that when Aretha Franklin die one day it's going to be a huge deal.. like oh my God!!!!! She was always one of my favorite female singers and I especially love her Arista label recordings, that's my favorite era of music 🎵🎵🎶... my sister loves her earlier recordings. I went to view her after her passing at The New Bethel Baptist Church just before the funeral and yes I just stood there and looked at her and I did feel sad too. yes but she left us with so many memories and recordings to enjoy!! Rest in paradise Queen of Soul
George Kirby the greatest impressionist was on the same episode and he told Dinah that Aretha was the only singer he could not do. Aretha did a couple impersonations from the chair as I recall.
I was 15 in 1976. This film and soundtrack was everything! Loved this album. Bought it with my few pennies back then. Curtis Mayfield was a master at soundtracks and music.
That first sentence of 'Look Into Your Heart' is already so beautifully sung, voice obviously in great condition. One of my favorite albums, her singing those Curtis tunes is SOMETHING ELSE!
Her voice is timeless. She effortlessly sings her songs live with the same tone quality as the album. Even as her voice changed throughout the years, she maintained that standard. She is truly missed ❤❤❤
I still cry every day. I miss her like a family member! I miss her because she was so messy, and nobody dared to challenge her right or wrong. She was determined to have it her way!
Aretha killed all 3 songs especially when she sung giving him something he can feel. Rest In Peace to the queen of the soul….thanks for posting this milik
I LOVE her voice during this period too and also the late 90s, her voice was OUTSTANDING when she sang "Nessun Dorma" at the Grammys in '98 and her album, "A Rose Is Still a Rose," especially the cut, "In the Morning!"
Aretha is out of this world. The riffs, the tone, the highs the lows, perfection. That 70's period, is unmatched. Whitney Houston the greatest voice? Somebody is lying. Ain't NOBODY LIKE RE.
Wow! Wow! Simply wow!! Aretha’s voice was hypnotic!! My Lord what a vocal gift she had: it’s fluid, raw, reaching powerful ranges effortlessly. Simply stunning!! Wow! Such an attractive woman too-she looks so beautiful on here. She took me away w/Jump. The vocal play was amazing! 🌹
Her high notes in jump remind me so much of the top notes Willa ward had when she sang soprano with the ward singers, it’s something ahout there tone and technique
I am so absolutely AMAZED that this performance that I thought I would never see again, has just been posted 8 hours ago! My deepest gratitude and thanks to you all for obtaining and posting it! Her GLORIOUS, SPELLBOUNDING vocals BLOW ME AWAY EVERYTIME! THE: G.O.A.T.!!!
It's the real "Thang" no, one can try too compare to (QUEEN ARETHA" that's one iron, and pressed singing sister!! I miss you QUEEN A. R.I.P. You will never fade away!!.
Christmas just came early. Ms. Ree was never known for sing it just like the record. She has that sing it how I feel it thing going on. Thanks for this very rare hardly ever seen video. This waa around the time Jimmy Carter waa very popular. Mrs Brenda holding it down for the big girls
The greatest of all time. And that's what every comment should say. I am Endlessly grateful for all the content you bring This is why I have that monthly subscription, cause you feed us like no other sir
OMG thank you for sharing this. I've been searching for this full performance since the late 90s. I remember seeing a clip of "something he can feel" from this performance featured on the "Legends" series VH-1 used to have back in the late 90s/early 2000s, when the channel was strictly focused on music. I'm so happy to finally be able to see the full performance. The Queen looked and sounded Amazing! 🔥 ❤
Love it x 100! I am a huge fan of Aretha ever since I was a child in the 70's. And does anyone know who is on the piano for her on this version? All time unreal.
She killed it!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾Memories of my mom and aunts singing these songs as a kid… The 👑 of Soul she looked and sounded amazing and the background singers 👏🏾
I think after this there are two things I can ask from God, after which I can live the rest of my life and die a happy man - a video with a proper and clean audio of Bad Bad Leroy Brown, and a final official release of Live & More by Donna Summer. While 2nd will probably never happen, I'm hoping for the first 😊
Work it, work it, work it out Ms Ree. Wow awesome performance and great medley from the Sparkle soundtrack. Ms Ree looked and sounded fabulous along with the ladies and the orchestra was cooking.
I saw a live video of Aretha singing give him something he can feel I believe she had on a blue pant outfit and boy she did a excellent job, because she was really into it that night
Her ad libs and runs drive this. I love all of the percussive effects such ad libs give a vocal performance. Mavis staples is of course another artist that used ad libs as a percussion. So did Michael Jackson in shake your body down and some of the off the wall songs.
0:00 - Introduction
0:11 - Look Into Your Heart
3:15 - Giving Him Something He Can Feel

Thanks for this video it brings back so many memories. I first saw Aretha Franklin in this form as a boy. The red hair and foxy look. When she maintained her weight she was a beauty.
Aretha + Curtis Mayfield = HOMERUN! ❤
Curtis Mayfield put his everything into dat soundtrack & Aretha’s execution was flawless 🤌🏾
Oh I how I miss the 70's. We were poor but we were rich in love.
Vocals were on point here. Riff and runs in the right place. Those squalls she did like no other WHEW. ANOINTED SOUL SISTER
Love whatever she did at 5:23
Ha! I heard it 😅 Ree Ree!!!!
That voice was as sharp as a butcher's knife. She knocked it out of the park, out of sight.
I MEAN SHE SANGIN! (and she was a heavy cigarette smoker then!)
I have never heard a live version of Jump or Look Into Your Heart. She knocked it out of the park and looking oh so FINE while doing it! And shout out to cousin Brenda who was feeling Jump.

And Whitney and Mariah Carey. Most smoked in those days.
@@atheomaGod only says 75years if longer it's a blessing. She lives as long as God allows. She was a blessing still no one is better smoking or not.

The Queen movin and groovin 🕺🏾💃🏾

The Iconic legendary Queen of Soul. Our 1st Lady of Song Her voice was Declared a Natural Resource from the State of Michigan in 1985 . 🎵 .....🎤🎹
Yes yes yes
She was the goat
Queen Aretha Franklin in ‘72 - ‘79 sings so good.
even before, in 1970, when ‘young, gifted and black’ was recorded. flawless, effortless, absolutely unmatched.
@@atheoma I can agree with that. And to be honest, both ReeRee and Natalie Cole have the best voices in that era.
I’d say that her voice was best between ‘64-‘78. She was phenomenal.
I think 68 to 82

You need to hear her Columbia Albums …
That first sentence of 'Look Into Your Heart' is already so beautifully sung, voice obviously in great condition. One of my favorite albums, her singing those Curtis tunes is SOMETHING ELSE!
