  • The electric truck wars are heating up with #Ram now entering the mix with the production ready version of the #Ram1500Rev. This is the brands first fully dedicated electric truck and its built on the new STLA EV platform. With an available 229 kWh battery pack, this truck can travel up to 500 miles on a full charge, tow up to 14,000 lbs, and haul up to 2,700 lbs in the bed. It goes on sale in Q4 2024.

    Ford lightning does not start in mid 50s anymore. With the latest price bump, the base PRO trim starts almost at $60k.
    Having said that, if this base model starts around $60k, and really meets the 350 miles range mark, its still a better deal.
    I am putting my stakes on both these, plus Avalanche EV ... fingers crossed ..

    I'm so sick of hearing people talk about how this truck is "generic" or that it's a "missed opportunity" that it isn't "unique" enough. RAM is making this truck for us truck people, not for you EV sports car people. Yes its electric but it's made to be a pickup truck. RAM knows who buys their pickups and it's not the eco-conscience, sci-fi dweebs that think driving an EV is saving the planet. This vehicle was made for pickup truck drivers. I have been driving RAM trucks for most of my life and I have to say I love this new one. It's exactly what we want, a pickup truck that is electric, that's it! Simple. That's exactly what we want.

    • @Green__one
      @Green__one ปีที่แล้ว

      100% agree. That's why Tesla did so well with Model S, they were the first EV manufacturer who made a car that was electric, instead of making something "futuristic" and "unique" which really just meant ugly. That's also where they will fail with Cybertruck, sure lots of people will buy one (if it ever makes it to market) but far more people will want to just buy a truck, that happens to be electric.

    I'm surprised RAM doesn't include a power steering wheel on a truck of this level. This is the second time RAM has released a flagship truck with a manual adjustable steering wheel. The seats look incredible, but I couldn't tell if one of those 24-ways adjustments was for thigh support. Those thing matter for us 6+ guys with long femurs.
    Please tell me there's a way to turn off the gaudy lighted logo?

    The problem with the larger EVs are the issue of weight effecting efficiency and use case. Meaning if I want an electric vehicle that is less aerodynamic and larger than a sedan to have the same range as a sedan, then I need to give it a larger battery pack. The problem with a larger battery pack is the increased vehicle weight. When you significantly increase the weight of a vehicle you run into the issue of it being too heavy for most roads and bridges. Then in the USA their is the issue of vehicle weight being tied to specific types of driver licenses and insurance types.

    I like it but with batteries that large this thing is going to have a crazy weight... probably heavier than the Hummer EV. Heavier weight EVs are terrible for tires, and you'll have to replace tires far more frequently which will be pricey.

    People seem to like the concept vehicle better. I personally don’t like it. I think EVs being a tough sell right now making a vehicle that isn’t much different than the ICE version is a smart choice and likely to get the most buyers currently. I don’t believe the concept would have sold as many units. Too futuristic too soon. Look at the lighting. Not that much different than the ICE F-150.
