    What river? Its a lake.
    Really BBC, I know the British English is slightly different, but you do differentiate between lakes and rivers in England don't you?

    It has way more room for growth than San Francisco / San Jose which has gotten to the point where it's impossible to move there because of the cost of living. The cost of living in Seattle is significantly more affordable.

    It will surpass SF and become the Manhattan of the West

      +Not likely. The Bay Area is 9 Million people. Seattle, -less than half that. No venture capital industry like here. No large scale Biotech industry. No place like Silicon Valley itself (even though Seattle is a major high tech hub).

      Not a chance of that. There already is a Manhattan of the West- Silicon Valley and SF, and it's Wall Street is Sand Hill Road.

      SkylineToTheSeaAndMe Seattle area population is growing faster than Silicon Valley. A lot faster, so is the rent. So it will surpass SF and become Manhattan of the west

    A eye opener into another world I never knew existed, I watched this because I wanted to learn about The BBC’s Silicon Graphics computer used for their former News production 1993-1999.

    Seattle is growing but don't be delusional ... The SF Bay Area/San Jose/Silicon Valley are light years ahead of Seattle ... There will never be another Silicon Valley !!! There are other tech hot beds ... the only one that rivals the Bay Area is the Boston Area ... Seattle Tech community is growing but doesn't come close to the Bay Area or Boston Area for that matter ...
    The Seattle Area is beautiful !!! The weather there will take some getting use to for it is mostly grey there although it was nice last week ... The whether is ~ 15 - 30 degrees cooler on average than California and you can feel the coolness on your head if you are from a warmer climate ...
    Seattle is a mess traffic wise ... The Freeway infrastructure there is lacking major and almost non-existent .... The public transportation system is lacking (Seattle needs a heavy rail sub-way system) and is far behind what is necessary ... There are virtually no North/South, East/West parallel freeway options there (only I-5 & 405) ... Seattle planers need to study the Bay Area & Los Angeles Area and learn something about freeway infrastructure .... Living in the Bay Area I can appropriate the multiple wide freeways 4 - 7 lanes in one directions with many parallel options in all directions to relieve traffic as well as a wonder Subway system ... Last week I was in downtown Seattle on a Thursday at ~ 3:30 p.m. and I need to travel 4 stop lights away to get on I-5 and it took 45 minutes to get on the freeway .... In San Francisco, when traffic is a mess, police will direct traffic throughout the city to assist .... In Seattle they Don't .... Seattle traffic is atrocious and I won't recommend moving there for a job unless you live close to where you are going to be working.

    I miss 90's Seattle, and the 90's NW vibe in general. Totally different vibe it was, more smiles on the streets, people were def more chill and fun, raves and parties were really good to go to. Things were still getting done though, business wise. We used to go back and forth from Seattle to Portland, and other smaller NW cities to raves, clubs, parties and after hour parties, lol, great times, which i'm very happy to had been a part of... Here, here to that great happy, and chill, party vibe to make its way back around here in the NW so we can all have some breathing room again. Cheers!!!

    This is really worthwhile-information to know because Seattle along with San-Francisco and Los Angeles are places I am contemplating moving to one-day to pursue a videogame-development-career.

    Haha, amazon is down by lake union, not the "waterfront." And lake washington must be the widest "river" in the world.

    • @ccmanize
      @ccmanize 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lake Union is a waterfront dumbass. Waterfront means along any body of water (such as a lake) or river.

    • @goodolarchie
      @goodolarchie 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ccmanize You only need to spend a day in Seattle to understand that waterfront == Elliot Bay. It has been this way since before our grandfathers' time and will be this way long after our grandchildren are dead. South Lake Union is not the the waterfront, a waterfront, or any mode of aqueous facade. Google "Seattle Waterfront" if you need further understanding.

      I know that Elliot Bay is referred to as "the Waterfront". But that doesn't make it the only waterfront. South Lake Union is still "a waterfront".

  • @muskepticsometimes9133

    Well, I see potential for Metro area, but less so Seattle. Metro area has access to great natural features, skilled workers can commute there, and less crazy city government. Seattle's recent efforts to de-criminalize crime have succeeded with predictable results.

      Veronica Figueroa Just so you know the only state that ever had a 9.2 earthquake was Alaska not Washington. The worst earthquake that Washington had was a 6.8 in 2001. Washington's only had three earthquakes since 1965, whereas California and Alaska are on record as having three earthquakes in one year. California had three earthquakes in 1992, and Alaska had three earthquakes in 2014.
