  • The Mighty Griso, closing in on 200,000km Ive been recommended to complete some preventative maintenance. Here's an opportunity to watch an amature at work, completing a task.
Do be advised the work completed in this video is using information gathered from the shop manual and advice from online sources.
I thought I could complete this job in a couple of days. And I was very wrong.
The right tools and taking your time is key to preventing mistakes.
A mistake in this task could prove devastating.
The Griso is very similar to all the carc models, I would expect much of the detail would be the same. Refer to your manual for specifics for Breva 1100,1200, Sport 1200, Bellagio, Stelivio 1200, Norge
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me.
Please subscribe if you enjoyed this, and do go watch some of the other stuff I have on here.
    Cheers.

The whine could be caused by the new chain being on the old sprockets. They didn't look worn but all the drive train parts wear together. Things might bed in with a bit of running.

Yes yes, that's one of the things I've been told. I don't think it is a noisy as day one. I will have a video film of noise over time comparison soon.

The whine is the Valtek tensioner. It'll diminish as it beds in.
    Good work.

I have to replace the oil pump on my 1200 sport, and therefore dismantle the distribution. I had planned to lock the flywheel with a tool made by me, but I see that you loosen and tighten the crankshaft and camshaft nuts directly without blocking the engine. How do you do ? Did you engage the 1st gear?

      Thanks for watching.
J'ai engagé une vitesse, mais cela ne suffisait pas, j'ai également utilisé un tournevis bien ajusté dans le disque de frein arrière, bien calé contre l'étrier arrière pour arrêter la rotation.
I engaged gear, but that was not enough, I also used a screw driver snuggly fit in the rear brake disc, snug up against the rear caliper to stop the rotation.
      I hope that helps.

Hi from a 2011 Stelvio owner across the ditch.
I wonder if the alternator bearings like the new tighter belt?
Anyway, great to see that moonshot mileage is still a thing with the big block Guzzis.

Yes the rear brake is working again now, A very kind fellow Guzzi guy from the states hooked me up with a new replacement plate for the lever etc. Guzzi folk are sure some of the best folk 😎
