I would be so hype to see you guys play a short campaign of this. Bless the Maker and His water, bless His coming and His going, may His passing cleanse the world, and keep the world for His people.
I've a friend who is excited to host this game, and the chance to learn more about it could not have come at a better time! Thank you High Rollers! Clear Skies from Michigan!
The planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. Land of sand, home of the Spice Melange. The spice controls the universe. Whoever controls Dune controls the Spice...
I actually felt Dune vibe in this one-shot. Great work, especially for a table that is not all familiar with Dune geo-politic history. Agree with "doon" being wierd pronunciation, (in english i think it would be (polish here, so not sure). But it is only one thing I noticed that was "wait what?". Love the politic intrigue, love teh character and thinking "what my character would do". Also appreciate Mark way of "you would know that, no need for a test" as many times player do not have knowledge the charcter obvoiusly would have. Have you ever consider to play Alien one-shot? There can be a hide agent and both political-economic conflict mixed with/against urge to pure survival :) just saying...
You’re correct that it is an exception in English to the usual rule that an ‘e’ at the end of a word that has a vowel one letter away typically makes the vowel a long sound, I.e. the vowel makes the sound it does when you pronounce it in the alphabet (e.g. ‘Tone’ is pronounced TOE-n while ‘Ton’ is pronounced TUH-n). A (‘sane’), and I (‘pine’) almost always follow this rule. E often does, but commonly used, non-scientific words ending in ‘-ene’ are actually sort of rare (notable exception would be ‘scene’). But -une words seem to almost always sound like a long O. Tune, rune, prune, attune… and dune.
I love dune. Its so immersive and varied. I can't wait till the films chronicling the jihad get made, and I'm waiting anxiously for the return of the machines. Their characters were so interesting.
im more hyped for PHYSICAL games now actually , everythimg from RISK dune, to smaller DUNE cardgames to pen and paper rpg DUNE, will be interesting to see what comes of that durimg the year and the beginningmof next one😊😊
I'm glad to see you trying out a Modiphius game. I've watched another ttrpg group play a number of campaigns using their games and I've always liked the system.
Agreed, but they have a more episodic one shot, a little bit different then this. It is still nice to have different parties try them on. I only pick back up the GCN's recently, bcz although I like them, it was too long for me lol. This one shot is surely a gr8 introduction.
im here cuz im making a very simplistic text based roleplay adventure game based on dune and arrakis having the book as an overarching theme but still allowing freedom and alternative start and constellation within the game, like im playing (pls feel free to "steal " any ideas, no seriously it ok i dint care otherwise i would nevermpost it right) as a nobody outsider foreigner just like conan the barbarian when he was exiled, on my way to deliver something to the space guild, my spaceship malfunction and crashes into the midst of dune in the 'deep desert' area,170 km from the harkonnens (cartheg), 60 km from corrino and 47 km away from atreides but i don't know this from the get go, actually nothing is known to my character except the "fourth wall " info the AI gives me as a gm like the details i already provided😅😅 so this is where my story begins and the emperor has been 15 months on dune, the harkonnens 3,5 months, and atreides 2,5 weeks....i encountered my first medium fast, but also lesser sandstorm today solo rpg style, my random shelter in a small cave on the rocky canyon close to my crashsite had a 63% shelter protection against the storm but still it took 46% damage taking most thing away before i had the chance and time to search the area before the storm hit , so far i rolled two times for , huge, medium and smaller sandworms but havent spotted anyone yet in the area im in , my thirst, fatigue, hunger, courage ,moral, and sanity meters are still doing ok, but i need to sleep soon and also find a scarce water source somewhere... tomorrow im gonna walk towards the nearest atreides outpost hopefully without encountering any sandbandits , worms or more sandstorms, but its a 47 km trek on foot in 38 degress celcius so i dunno...😅😅 everything i said i made up myself, no dnd books , nothing😊😊😊, just some imagination and inspiration from the latest movie and older classic dune games ( no not dune 2000)...
Something to think about highrollers why not try and do like a tester campaign as im liking this style of ttrpg and im liking the format of the game and would be nice to have some rpg tabletop games other than dnd all the time dont get me wrong I love dnd I play it myself with my discord but in no campains yet. Just something to think about :)
I am comfortable with a game master having discussions of possibilities with players. I am, personally, very uncomfortable with a game master supporting or presenting a betrayal. But for a one-shot, among a group that either will not play together in the foreseeable future, or who are mature enough to recognize the situation, after the fact, even if not in the moment. Clearly you have very dedicated players to do this. Because I damned well better have another Altheya episode. Otherwise, Mark... You're on my hate list. All in all it was a fun experience. Not sure I understand the mechanics enough to invest in it. It's hard enough to find people to run a one-shot with, much less a campaign. I was introduced to AD&D by a friend, who would lend me dice during the game, I had none. Leaned on him for understanding complicated aspects. Unless I had either a "room full of novices, willing to learn together" or a trusted friend to "help me understand" I would not take on anything more than a one-shot.
i think the production value is pretty cool here, the switching cameras and that shiftimg pics also very cooll, but it would be even cooler if u had more camera angles (from the top, from behind the gm screen for only us viewers to see😊 maybe fousing 15-20 sec on the two's in the upper part then go back to the main for one minute (like a timer?) then 15 sec on the gm, then back for a minute, then 15-20 on the lower, then back for a minute, then 10-15 seconds on the pics, then back one minute, then 15-20 sec behind the gm screen, then back, then 15 sec overview, then back, then from the side of the right side of the players , then back, then to the left side, then back, etc, like not in that order, but as varied and entertaining for us viewers as possible pls, try to experiment, have a great Day ya folks and thx for this vid😄😄🥳🥳✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

2:36:22 gotta love Trott's choice of words here. Seems innocent enough on the surface, but at the same time serves as strong foreshadowing

That backstab surprise was legit a shock. Loved it. He should play evil and shady more often

Really amazing one-shot.
Hope they sponsor you also for a Fallout 2d20 one-shot or more for the show.
You guys really need to do this as a full campaign that was awesome
Really enjoyed this one guys, great work (especially Trott)👌
Good to see you play other systems and was fun to learn about the world of Spiiice!!
I would really like to see you guys doing an evil miniseries of this not going to lie
Love the one shot variety to shake up the schedule and our players. Thank you!
This one shot was unreal! Wondering if Trott’s assassin focus could have finished Rhi?
Would love to see more of this.
I love dune. Its so immersive and varied. I can't wait till the films chronicling the jihad get made, and I'm waiting anxiously for the return of the machines. Their characters were so interesting.
high rollers is an unfortunate name when your goal is to roll low

Don't lasguns hiting shields in dune just go nuclear!
Heres hoping we can get a mini series out of this, the games great
I'm glad to see you trying out a Modiphius game. I've watched another ttrpg group play a number of campaigns using their games and I've always liked the system.
I haven't even watched it yet and I love it. Something about Kim with that big book has got me fired up!!!😂
Let's fucking gooooo! I wanted to watch it live, but life happened. Let me see it!
The spies must flow!
Off to the deathdestillery with them! ;P
May I enquire as to the whereabouts of young Tom rhombus?
Thank you all guys ❤😊 nice games again
Oh!! Does the play keep the stuff about harkonnen being cowards!
I have a sneaking suspicion that Mark has been watching the 1984 version of Dune with how he pronounces Harkonnen
That was a great game, thank you for showcasing it.
It was interesting to see how this played out in comparison with the Glass Cannon Networks play through of this scenario 😁

Does someone know the introduction music?
Mark! You better not use these "political system" in Altheya!
If I remember correctly , 1 is good, 20 is bad.
That was awesome 👏
