Im glad you mentioned the alarm randomly going off, Mine is doing the same thing, The dome light freaks out right after shutting the front doors, the locks keep trying to lock and it drives me nuts. So thanks for the video.
Had same prob with my 2000 Lincoln Cartier town car.( door ajar and cab lights staying on).rear driver door button was stuck and rear passenger button stuck..i guess these doors wasn't opened much..i used a knife to release the buttons without taking of door panels..sprayed them with wd 40 , good as new...
Excelente tahnk you boss I will try that couse that's the same issue that I have in my mountanier lights are acting like a crazy on and off and the light said door ajar . Definitely I will try that thank you for sharing your knowledge I appreciate that
Thanks so much for the info. what I'd like to know is if do you leave it dangling as it is or do you have to attach it to someplace where something has to press upon it?
Jose, after trying the lube latch idea.. no deal.. with further investigation, it was the door jam switch that makes contact w/ the door - the switch was disconnected & didn't make contact.. I drilled a screw in to create stabilization, and voila'... that simple for me..however, watching these videos led me to that resolve. While you did it the correct way, I took a simple woman's approach (for now)
I'm having the same problem with the same year model. I just don't know which door it can be. I guess I'm gonna have to check every single door. I was also told that the lift gate in the rear can also be bad causing a door ajar error. I wish there was a way to disable the alarm system all together.

Nice video tks
That switch took the door ajar icon off even with the door open I thought the door supposed to be closed for the icon to come off
When you open the door the latch depresses the switch triggering the light so with the switch not installed the light will go off with the door open
Was there a part still stuck in the door, and how you get it out
Thanks bro

DMACKD mcdavid does your rear passenger window roll down and up?
Why did you ask this? I have a rear passenger window that won't roll down, and also a door ajar issue.
@@christophermoon546 neither of mine in the back do! Could this be the issue?
@@christophermoon546 guess it's a secret
@@christophermoon546 same problem
how do you know what door it is
guess
Is there an easier fix? Like removing a fuse?
Also check the dimmer nob. i sprayed some electric cleaner in mine... fixed it (95 ranger)
How do you get the Alarm from going off all times of night. It’s annoying?🙁😡
$30 pretty cheap ? Seriously, you must be rich.
30$ is pretty cheap when it comes to a part to fix a car and I’m poor as can be.
Thanks
How do you know what door it is???
How does the switch come off? Twist? just pull it? Button to push in?
Part name is Door jamb switch.
how did you know which of the 4 sensors was the one that failed
Guess lol
Ok but how did u get the sensor out from the latch assembly?
I pulled the lock out as far as it would go and used channel locks and removed it
Like video my trucks doing the same thing
Mines was the rear hatch
Ya didn't show the hard part...how to get the panel off without ruining it...and also reinstall.
It's easy. There are numerous videos showing it, just Google it
Its like 4 bolts
Buen video, pero tengo una pregunta. ¿cual es el nombre del censor?
Gali G. "Door Ajar Sensor" asi se llama
I wish Someone would make a video on how 🤔 to turn it off and forget paying the rip off for switches ?
what do you call that switch if i want to order it ??
Door ajar sensor
Only thing needed an explanation how to remove the door panels without breaking the brackets and that then will explain the whole process
1996 Ford explorer
WD-40 is not a lubricant. It’s a solvent.
Plenty of lubricants at your parts store or even Walmart.
Mine was the rear passenger door. WD40 said no problemo.
But your doors are open
Man that little shitty piece is $30 per piece. That's ridiculous
when you say "I saw that it was broken"... HOW did you know that the door ajar sensor was broken?
teiaperigosa the sensor was broken in half (from the plastic part and metal part of the sensor)
Do you have anything current on your TH-cam channel everything you got on here it's been 2 years or more? What you just stop making videos?
Why did you not show the parts where you took old sensor out and put the new one in?? Whats up with that?? Pretty shady!
This video is crap and very uninformative!
A Thank You would have sufficed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was just a diagnostic video
You payed way to much $ 12,99 Amazon I brought 4 and replaced them all just as a precaution
i will never buy ford again ! sick of this problem!
