After months of trying to get these damn plants to grow, SUCCESS! Plants turned brown and I didn't panic. Adjusting the light helped. The water still has more alkaline and reads as hard. When I do my next water change I'm going to use bottled water. That water tested great. Don't have a C02 hook up yet. The trial by error with live plants damn near bankrupt me. LOL. Thanks for all your advice. Onward and upward!

Hey Water Box! I used your affiliate link to buy some film! Love the videos man. I had a question. I'm new to aquascaping, do I need to boil and soak my wood and also cure my rocks that I bought from Petco before putting them in my tank? I read that soaking the wood gets rid of tannins but it could take up to two weeks! And curing the rocks could take about a week as well. This waiting period on top of the cycling period just seems really long. Is it standard practice to soak wood and cure rocks before putting them in water? Thanks!
The wood and rocks from petco should already be sterlized. I'd still run them under water to clean them a bit before putting in tank to get rid of anything it picked up during shipping and handling in store. For the wood, you can boil if you want. It really depends on the wood you're buying. If it's coated then boiling it won't help much. If not, you can to get rid of tannins. I don't normally bother unless it's sourced directly from nature.
Random co2 question... on an Elite Underwater Mini filter(amazon ca) they have an airline that is meant to suck air throu hose and increase oxygen level in tank but what would happen if you hooked up a co2 line to it instead(would the c02 diffuse properly)?
I have no clue. I don't even know what that thing is.
@@TheWaterBox basically just a mini power head with a sponge in the bottom but where it shoots the water out it has a venturi to suck in air from the tube at the surface... it makes very tiny air bubbles once shot thro the nozzle. So i was wondering if it would work kind of like a ghetto inline diffuser? It was just a thought I had when looking at the airline connected to it wondering how to add co2 with less equipment in the tank.
@@FAKE-NAME It might! You really won't know unless you try. It sounds like it may work! Just don't do too many BPS at first just in case it's too effective.
What’s a good high light light for a 10 gallon? I’m planning on growing high light plants including red ones. Would the finnex planted+ crv be good? And would it get plants to be red
The planted+ CRV on a 10g will get you more than enough light to grow reds.
The Water Box is this light considered high lighting? What’s the cheapest rgb high lighting light that I can buy?

Im starting my very FIRST fish tank of ANY kind ..gonna do a 40 gallon breeder using the ADA technique ..gonna try at least lol ...I have lava stones for very first layer on the glass ..what powder form fert do I sprinkle on the before I add eco complete for my second layer ..followed by ADA aqua soil powder form for top dressing ...I might be in over my head but I wanna do it right to begin with if I can...Thanks so much for any advice ...I subscribed before of course..and hit that notification bell so Ill be waiting on some videos !! lol
@@WILLSTARMONSTERS-MYSTERIES The ADA technique requires you to use all ADA substrate materials or it won't quite work right. Eco Complete should not be used for the ADA substrate system because it's inert. That layer SHOULD be normal ADA Aquasoil. You should be using power-sand in place of the lava stones too. You really need to look up the ADA substrate system. It's particular and works mainly for their products.
@@TheWaterBox I tried finding the ADA power sand everywhere online...No one has any of it I wanted to use ALL ADA substrate materials but the powder form was all I could find ..if u know where to buy the power sand and ADA aquasoil .not powder form since I already have that ..could u please let me know where I can get those items..they arent on Amazon either....thanks so much for responding I really do appreciate it
