The only reason is greed. The CEOs want to earn more and give less. They increase your working hours without increasing your salary. GOD forbid, if something happens to an individual (like a serious health issue or death by work exhaustion), all a company would do is to replace you with someone with less salary. Sickening.
Infosys is a low margin services business which focuses on deploying as many engineers on a project as possible. Their employee cost as a percentage of their revenue is still WAY higher than that of Google or Amazon.
Why should I leave my personal life and work 70 hours and 6 days a week in their office when I don't know when I will be laid off? I of course spend 70 hours a week on my productive works like full time job, gym, studies and doing household chores. I even go to my home and spend time with them twice in a year while the people who give advices spending their time with their family members. If a new AI technology got invented tomorrow these CEO's will go behind the AI leaving the employees who worked for them, now why I need to spend time only on their business growth instead of investing my time on securing my future?
