When I try to go fast my tongue feels heavy and it's really hard to tongue fast

The key to that is having a light tongue because when you go fast you want your tongue to not move as much in your mouth as it would at let’s say 100 BMP of eight notes. And keep in mind the louder you play the less of a tongue dynamic you need. So if your playing Forte you Can tongue at Mezzo-piano, there inverses the louder the volume the softer the articulation and the softer the volume the more the tongue must dictate the note.

What I love most is the fact that he speaks in rythm as the metronom goes on aha sounds like a rap " all the while keeping that airstring consistent" at 4:57 so groovy 😂
Sorry for the way I speak, I'm french

Would be cool if you could do this while Circular Breathing.

Do you do Tu or Te or it depends on the range of the note that you are playing?

Great question! Lower notes will require more of a "Tah" and higher notes will require more of a "Tee" because of the position of the back of your tongue when moving between registers. Other than that, the technique will be the same.

What about pitch? I find that as I go down in the scale my tonguing has a harder time keeping up.

What kind of metronome is the one you using, I am on a fix income and would like to fine one that wouldn't cost me a whole lot, but that will do the job.
