I got fitted for the Gen 5 driver last summer and they had a huge sale going on. Not only did I get it for a ridiculous price but it's also been great in the bag. Much more forgiving and consistent without giving up distance. I am now a PXG fan and am considering them for other clubs in the bag
I didn't have anywhere to get fitted, but i jumped on that sale of the Gen 5 last summer as well. Sold my 0211 PXG driver for the Gen5 XF at 9 degrees. Love that club. I'm always waiting on the sales they have. All my irons are 0211's along with my hybrid and fairway driver. Even got the putter. Really like how they feel. Keep up the great work Mr Parsons.

All things aside (distance, forgiveness, control - all comparable to the major brands), the customer service of PXG is another level. I've never had such great customer service from my local rep for ANY other brands. PXG goes above and beyond for their customers at least in my experience.
You're not the only one to pop the face on the Stealth 2 +, did that after a month. For a warranty replacement, it seems fine now, but I also did it with the Stealth 1+. I heard rumors of this happening a lot, but it is interesting to see it isn't just me, and I typically play at 110 to 112 mph swing speed.
Just got my Gen6 XF and have never had more confidence on the tee box. Fitting was crucial. My swing is generally low launch, low spin with a horrible hook. The weights in the head allowed it to be built to my swing better than the other brands I tried. That and the right shaft made it absolutely crazy. No swing change, and I went from 220 to 265 carry with a gentle draw. Everything Pete said about accuracy and distance consistency is exactly what I found, just not as long, but I'm old and out of shape.
The PXG price strategy is not a secret. They're following the same model Tesla did. Bring out exclusive gear first that sells for a premium. Once the R&D and production facility costs have been paid, go for the mass market. Their irons have been absolutely superb from day 1 but the drivers have just not had the little extra they needed. With the Gen 6's however, I am very tempted to add the woods to my iron set.
Let us know when the time comes for you to game the GEN6s - they are pretty fantastic and would be a great addition to the iron set. Keep us updated! ^Delaney

PXG was always a brand I was never sure about, then I took a chance on their Gen5 driving iron. I bought the blacked out version, with an Aldila NV Green shaft, .5 inch longer and a fatter grip for 200 dollars and the club is INCREDIBLE. I never tried any of their stuff before, but now they are on my radar. I keep seeing reviews of their current Gen6 products and it has me thinking about comparing them to my current setup to see if I get anything more out of them. Great video, Pete!
I always kind of loathed PXG, just because it was seemingly such an overpriced/hyped brand… I bit Cobra Kings for the past 20 years, and Hogans when I was little… Last year I decided to go hit some PX gees at a local country club and see what a fitting would turn up for me. I have to say, it was the most comprehensive fitting I’ve ever heard of, and I’m just going to leave it at this… I hate these irons so unbelievably well that I am now in evangelist forPXG . I’m still a Callaway 1w-4h guy.
I have this exact driver in 7.5 and I absolutely love it the sound the feel the consistency it takes a second to get used too but definitely get fitted
One of the reasons I wouldn’t go for a stealth is that I played baseball for years and years. I saw maybe one bat barrel break in 15 years. Then they came out with composite and it’s an inevitability that the barrel will “explode”. It just crumbles over time. Starts off okay, gets progressively hotter, and then composite just breaks. Usually you can tell by the sound before it happens. I want a stealth, it looks cool and they are super long/hot/ juiced whatever. But I’ll never buy one because I know it’s shelf life is limited to maybe 1000 swings for golf clubs, more like 300-500 for baseball bats. It just doesn’t last
I just purchased a gently used pxg driver based on this video I have not played in 10 years, gave away my clubs. Around a 10 handicapper back then. Just now got back to playing only spent $100 bucks on the driver because I’m not good enough to spend $600 on a driver just now getting my clubs put back together. Used of course this is the final piece to my arsenal. I hope i can hit it long and straight. I’m not old just yet thanks for saving me some money
Been fortunate enough to be with PXG since GEN5 and can safely say we absolutely love the product! Had not previously used any and think the GEN6 range especially is proper decent
My pxg gen 5 xf is the most forgiving item in the known universe. I bought the full set on December 22 and I dropped from 10 Handicap to 4 in just 3 months without changing anything else. I don't even think of changing any of my clubs with the new gen 6. I am absolutely happy! Can't believe I play that game! Ones i made 3 birdies in a row on Holes 2,3 an 4 with a par on the 1st and I was 3 under on No 4! I couldn't make 3 birdies the whole round before, and I made 3 in a row.
Great comparison, Pete. I've been playing the PXG clubs for 3yrs now and I really like them. I'm looking at purchasing the gen 5 driver in a couple of weeks, and this comparison helped me a lot.

The ploht thickens… guess it’s time for a fitting. I will say that I have the O211’s and was able to come back 2yrs later to use the ferrels repaired and specs rechecked at no charge. Super customer service.

I have pxg irons and now a driver. One of the biggest reasons the prices were so high from watching some TCG videos from back then was the shaft options. A early gen driver used to be $899 but it has every shaft option available included into that. TXG found it was still cheaper if you had one of the super premium shafts compared to getting a tietlest head with a $600 dollar shaft upcharge. Now pxg have much cheaper and standard shafts with upcharge shafts available.
I tried the GEN5 driver and loved it so much I bought one. Then I picked up a Gen5 3 wood and loved that. Traded my Callaway Apex irons, Rogue woods & Hybrids and wedges for the PXG Gen4 irons and hybrids wedges. I'm keeping my Bettinardi BB-45 putter. Never getting rid of that.
I was considering the Stealth 2, thought to myself that the issues with the face can’t really be that bad. While at Golf Town and talking to the sales person someone quite literally walked in by me to pick up their warranty replacement for the same issue. I guess it’s a club you can own for only the warranty range, after that it’s a time bomb.
I’ve just got this driver, with a 10.5* head and a reg tensei blue shaft. I tested this against the stealth, and for me it was so so accurate as you say. Also, PXG have just been incredible regarding the service provided. They even fitted my own grips to the club, and also made sure they got the swing weight right. Not sure any other manufacturer would do that.m
Big slicer. I switched to PXG 0211. Not striping it down the middle by any stretch I feel like as long as I hit the ball somewhere on the face it’s going to stay in play.
You’re definitely not the only one having issues with the stealth 2 face popping out. Loads of people on forums including myself had issues (mine was with the first generation). Until they sort out a stronger binding agent, I’ll stick with Callaway or Ping
I still game the pxg gen2 driver and 3 wood great things I have just seen to many problems with the stealth 2 driver just like yours Pete so that's put me off changing tempted with the gen6 tho keep the top quality stuff coming all the best
I believe that the Clubs are amazing, but what sets them apart is the fitting process. Both factors contribute to the final results, and it's undeniable that the Clubs are of great quality. The fitting process adds an extra level of satisfaction to the overall experience.
Any of my buddies with Stealth drivers and high club head speed have been having those face issues. Seems very unacceptable at that price point. I was hoping they would have it fixed for the Stealth 2.
Peter, it's truly enlightening. To see a pro, who has more to spend than myself, making the effort to find what fits you the best. I appreciate how in depth and critical, you get with your testing to figure out what will be best in your bag. I also love the feel, sound, and forgiveness of TaylorMade woods. I can be more of a TaylorMade groupie than most of my friends when it comes to the woods. But there is something to be said for quality. I have noticed a slight lack of finished quality when it comes with some of the TaylorMade woods. That right there may make me look at a different brand. Currently, financially, I'm staying with what I have. But if the face were to fall off like yours? Yes! I'd move on. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see your full build you bag. When it's done. For woods you should definitely try Pings…. Head and shoulders above Taylormade imo! Definitely right about the Taylormade woods not holding up esthetically. Had a 3 wood in the bag for about 6 months. Didnt get along with it very well so I sold it. My 3 wood bf that was a callaway xhot 2007 model. And I can honestly say it looked better after all those years than the six month old Taylormade Sim 3 wood.
My PXG 311X is waaaay more accurate than my Taylor made with similar if not better distances also, a lot more forgiving. I did not get fitted but the online options really helped. I went 1/2 shorter on a senior flex shaft and one size bigger on the grips and it’s a world of difference! I’m definitely a PXG guy now
The Gen6 clubs are certainly no huge bargain! The Gen5 drivers have been reduced and aren't too bad, but one issue I have is there aren't any places I know of near me that I can try them without paying for a PXG fitting. That means cost up front before even finding out if it'd be a good club for me. I can walk into my local golf shops and try several drivers from a number of makers that cost less for free.
I hit PXG prototype driver with project x shaft. Mainly for the feel,accuracy and distance. Bundled it with 5 wood (that goes further than my old 3 wood) hybrid and irons. Callaway and titleist could not come close to they're price. I don't like their commercials but Love there Clubs.
So I have just purchased the Callaway Rogue LS Max. Did this from your reviews from last year. I know you are kinda promoting the PXG in this video. And having owned a Gen 4 PXG driver I hope they have made them better and longer since then. JMO If the stealth 2 is having reliability problems….. and the Paradym is actually a little better ( in forgiveness and distance) than the previous year Rogue…. Then I would think it would be a no brainer to go back to the Paradym. BC the Callaway Rogue is a truly great! IMO Would love to see a head to head on the Paradym triple diamond and this PXG Gen 6 driver. BTW for all you guys who think I am just hating on PXG…… I currently hit Gen 3 0311 P irons. And not looking to upgrade anytime soon!! I love the soft feel and accuracy of my irons.
In addition to the Stealth Driver clubface coming loose, I note that you had a concern about the clubface of the Wilson Dynapower Driver when you tested it. Sure would like to see some followup on both of these............thanks/MG.
gen6 is in my bag..as consistent at tsr2 slightly longer for me, feels worse. same shaft. probably not quite as long as aerojet plus but a bit more versatile and less fade bias. As consistent or more so than tsr2 or 430lst. ill probably throw in some yarn or hot melt to adjust sound.
Its even cheaper if you are signed up for their pxg for heroes program. It cost 449 if you a part of that program, plus everything else is discounted to an extent
I keep saying that Stealth has to go, lets see some on course testing with some other drivers because you can’t keep getting the Stealth heads replaced every few months, it may just be you swing too fast. Even if you were get a Tour issue head you will have a slightly lower COR (most tour heads do) and the Stealth will lose any distance advantage, so you would be better off with a stronger consumer grade driver.
For a startup manufacturer, it’s going to always be more expensive early on. Machines, tooling,etc. Extremely expensive to get your feet off the ground. it’s good to see that PXG are passing the savings on to the consumers when their margins normalized.
Pete my Stealth is great 10.5 adj to 9.0 forgiving long and accurate but my PXG 0811X + Proto is the Best ever…extremely adjustable,it feels and sounds explosive and is 10-15 yards longer But the shafts are different so the distance gain is debatable…
@@pxg It was decent! Was at Indoor 18 in OKC. Fitter was a little crunched for time, and I hurt my wrist shortly after the fitting, so I haven't been able to swing my Gen 6 to my full potential. As a result, the shaft stiffness feels very noticeable! I can already tell the forgiveness is much better, as well as distance, and my fitter has been in contact with me even after I got my clubs, which is nice. So I know any adjustments can be made as I grow into the clubs. No denying their beauty! Just have to get used to them a bit more.
I use their gen4 proto 9°. I've definitely hit my best drives with it but unfortunately I can't get fit for one in Australia. Some days it's all over the place but I think that's more to do with the dumb bit of skin attached to the grip. I like that it gives me feedback from my poor strikes.
Hmmm, it’s looking like TaylorMade are going to have to go back to the drawing board with their Stealth Drivers as clearly it’s far more than a simple QC issue, judging by how many people have had so many issues with the face, popping out or delaminating. From a personal standpoint I’ve always been one for going for the underdog or an option that doesn’t necessarily follow convention. Perhaps going for the oddity, or oddball in an established line. And this has told in some of my iron choices or Driver Choices in the past. Looking at the issue with the Stealth you’ve had. I’d be extremely tempted at this point to suggest “Just go for the PXG” set your own convention. Unless of course you think that there is a 3rd Driver, that perhaps gives the feel you get with the Stealth, but without the inherent design issues.
I applaud PXG for not trying to innovate with new driver “features” but rather finally make just a good solid driver that appeals to many. They’re woods have lacked from the start, so this is cool.
Says a lot about the driver market in general. PXG, of all manufacturers, haven't made crazy claims this time around, and manufacturers like Taylormade, Callaway, and Cobra have made big claims and changes with their recent drivers, and I'm not sure that they really change as much as they would want us to believe
I got a couple 0211 woods and I like the way they feel. I had a gen 5 driver and just couldnt get the consistency it was all over the place for me. Went to a ping 425 and its a tack driver for me
The PXG pricing model and change is absolutely a business decision. Come into the industry as a mysterious and expensive brand with new tech and a cool logo, and once you've figured it out (which it definitely took them time to) sell at lower premiums and give everyone a door to this mysterious fancy brand. Plus, with such a reputation, the consumer will be more likely to buy more clubs and effectively build brand loyalty.
Brilliant business move by PXG. Start at a premium price because that of course means premium quality. Contribute to setting the new price of golf equipment because of it then come in slightly cheaper when everything else catches up. Maintain quality but at a cheaper price than the competitors and get into more bags. More sales volume, more viability, more value visibility, more market share… More money for Bob.
I would NEVER have considered PXG at all due to their previous pricing but now they would show up in my radar as it were. And I have to say I am very very surprised at the two issues you have had with TaylorMade Stealth driver faces popping out; very strange to see that happen.

Without reading the comments…how do you, in good conscience, stay with the stealth when it may fail you mid-round? Regardless of the driver, the only one that has had consistent construction issues has been the stealth. I vote no confidence for the TM stealth…and I have TM irons.
PXG Driver are super forgiving and long. I hit a few drives where I almost missed the face and half of the balls printed on the face and balls end on the fairway with a few lost of yards... its crazy forgiving.
No need to reconsider Pete, time to ditch the Taylormade. Multiple friends of mine have had the same issue with both stealth and stealth 2. TM quality in the woods category is ridiculously bad
Forget the Stealth 2! Two out of two had fatal failure in less than 6 months?! For a lot of us casuals, a $600 driver better last Years, not months. I greatly appreciate you sharing that information. Do what you want, personally I would not want to see you legitimize a flawed product.
first the carbon crowns were popping off of the Sim/Sim2, now the faces are doing the same thing on the Stealth/Stealth2. Its almost as though they didn't learn their lesson the first time.
I remember at the start of the year how good you were hitting the paradym. And with that new night mode version which is stunning and wont break every 3 minths why not give that another run ????

You’re definitely not the only one having issues with the stealth 2 face popping out. Loads of people on forums including myself had issues (mine was with the first generation). Until they sort out a stronger binding agent, I’ll stick with Callaway or Ping

I still game the pxg gen2 driver and 3 wood great things I have just seen to many problems with the stealth 2 driver just like yours Pete so that's put me off changing tempted with the gen6 tho keep the top quality stuff coming all the best
I believe that the Clubs are amazing, but what sets them apart is the fitting process. Both factors contribute to the final results, and it's undeniable that the Clubs are of great quality. The fitting process adds an extra level of satisfaction to the overall experience.

Any of my buddies with Stealth drivers and high club head speed have been having those face issues. Seems very unacceptable at that price point. I was hoping they would have it fixed for the Stealth 2.
Peter, it's truly enlightening. To see a pro, who has more to spend than myself, making the effort to find what fits you the best. I appreciate how in depth and critical, you get with your testing to figure out what will be best in your bag.
I also love the feel, sound, and forgiveness of TaylorMade woods. I can be more of a TaylorMade groupie than most of my friends when it comes to the woods. But there is something to be said for quality. I have noticed a slight lack of finished quality when it comes with some of the TaylorMade woods. That right there may make me look at a different brand. Currently, financially, I'm staying with what I have. But if the face were to fall off like yours? Yes! I'd move on.

For woods you should definitely try Pings…. Head and shoulders above Taylormade imo! Definitely right about the Taylormade woods not holding up esthetically. Had a 3 wood in the bag for about 6 months. Didnt get along with it very well so I sold it. My 3 wood bf that was a callaway xhot 2007 model. And I can honestly say it looked better after all those years than the six month old Taylormade Sim 3 wood.
My PXG 311X is waaaay more accurate than my Taylor made with similar if not better distances also, a lot more forgiving. I did not get fitted but the online options really helped. I went 1/2 shorter on a senior flex shaft and one size bigger on the grips and it’s a world of difference!

The Gen6 clubs are certainly no huge bargain! The Gen5 drivers have been reduced and aren't too bad, but one issue I have is there aren't any places I know of near me that I can try them without paying for a PXG fitting. That means cost up front before even finding out if it'd be a good club for me. I can walk into my local golf shops and try several drivers from a number of makers that cost less for free.
That sound is fantastic!
I hit PXG prototype driver with project x shaft. Mainly for the feel,accuracy and distance. Bundled it with 5 wood (that goes further than my old 3 wood) hybrid and irons. Callaway and titleist could not come close to they're price. I don't like their commercials but Love there Clubs.

So I have just purchased the Callaway Rogue LS Max. Did this from your reviews from last year. I know you are kinda promoting the PXG in this video. And having owned a Gen 4 PXG driver I hope they have made them better and longer since then. JMO
If the stealth 2 is having reliability problems….. and the Paradym is actually a little better ( in forgiveness and distance) than the previous year Rogue…. Then I would think it would be a no brainer to go back to the Paradym.
BC the Callaway Rogue is a truly great! IMO Would love to see a head to head on the Paradym triple diamond and this PXG Gen 6 driver.
BTW for all you guys who think I am just hating on PXG…… I currently hit Gen 3 0311 P irons. And not looking to upgrade anytime soon!! I love the soft feel and accuracy of my irons.
In addition to the Stealth Driver clubface coming loose, I note that you had a concern about the clubface of the Wilson Dynapower Driver when you tested it. Sure would like to see some followup on both of these............thanks/MG.

gen6 is in my bag..as consistent at tsr2 slightly longer for me, feels worse. same shaft. probably not quite as long as aerojet plus but a bit more versatile and less fade bias. As consistent or more so than tsr2 or 430lst. ill probably throw in some yarn or hot melt to adjust sound.

Saw the same issue with a stealth driver with a guy at a local club here. He was not hard hitting the ball, a high 20 handicapper.
Of course the stealth 2 plus would go farther because of less spin. That adjustable weight upfront makes a huge impact on spin.

Its even cheaper if you are signed up for their pxg for heroes program. It cost 449 if you a part of that program, plus everything else is discounted to an extent

I keep saying that Stealth has to go, lets see some on course testing with some other drivers because you can’t keep getting the Stealth heads replaced every few months, it may just be you swing too fast. Even if you were get a Tour issue head you will have a slightly lower COR (most tour heads do) and the Stealth will lose any distance advantage, so you would be better off with a stronger consumer grade driver.
That is the third video I have watched that the stealth face has come off.

For a startup manufacturer, it’s going to always be more expensive early on. Machines, tooling,etc. Extremely expensive to get your feet off the ground. it’s good to see that PXG are passing the savings on to the consumers when their margins normalized.
I got the gen5 and bought it last August from PXG, brand new for half price at £250.
Pete my Stealth is great 10.5 adj to 9.0 forgiving long and accurate but my PXG 0811X + Proto is the Best ever…extremely adjustable,it feels and sounds explosive and is 10-15 yards longer But the shafts are different so the distance gain is debatable…
Top tip, when PXG go on sale, go buy them !!
I just got fitted for a full PXG set. I also have the Stealth 2, and noticed the same thing… less distance, but it is SO much straighter!

@@pxg It was decent! Was at Indoor 18 in OKC. Fitter was a little crunched for time, and I hurt my wrist shortly after the fitting, so I haven't been able to swing my Gen 6 to my full potential. As a result, the shaft stiffness feels very noticeable! I can already tell the forgiveness is much better, as well as distance, and my fitter has been in contact with me even after I got my clubs, which is nice. So I know any adjustments can be made as I grow into the clubs. No denying their beauty! Just have to get used to them a bit more.

I use their gen4 proto 9°. I've definitely hit my best drives with it but unfortunately I can't get fit for one in Australia. Some days it's all over the place but I think that's more to do with the dumb bit of skin attached to the grip. I like that it gives me feedback from my poor strikes.
Hmmm, it’s looking like TaylorMade are going to have to go back to the drawing board with their Stealth Drivers as clearly it’s far more than a simple QC issue, judging by how many people have had so many issues with the face, popping out or delaminating.
From a personal standpoint I’ve always been one for going for the underdog or an option that doesn’t necessarily follow convention. Perhaps going for the oddity, or oddball in an established line. And this has told in some of my iron choices or Driver Choices in the past.
Looking at the issue with the Stealth you’ve had. I’d be extremely tempted at this point to suggest “Just go for the PXG” set your own convention. Unless of course you think that there is a 3rd Driver, that perhaps gives the feel you get with the Stealth, but without the inherent design issues.
I applaud PXG for not trying to innovate with new driver “features” but rather finally make just a good solid driver that appeals to many. They’re woods have lacked from the start, so this is cool.
Says a lot about the driver market in general. PXG, of all manufacturers, haven't made crazy claims this time around, and manufacturers like Taylormade, Callaway, and Cobra have made big claims and changes with their recent drivers, and I'm not sure that they really change as much as they would want us to believe
I got a couple 0211 woods and I like the way they feel. I had a gen 5 driver and just couldnt get the consistency it was all over the place for me. Went to a ping 425 and its a tack driver for me
The PXG pricing model and change is absolutely a business decision. Come into the industry as a mysterious and expensive brand with new tech and a cool logo, and once you've figured it out (which it definitely took them time to) sell at lower premiums and give everyone a door to this mysterious fancy brand. Plus, with such a reputation, the consumer will be more likely to buy more clubs and effectively build brand loyalty.
Brilliant business move by PXG. Start at a premium price because that of course means premium quality. Contribute to setting the new price of golf equipment because of it then come in slightly cheaper when everything else catches up. Maintain quality but at a cheaper price than the competitors and get into more bags. More sales volume, more viability, more value visibility, more market share… More money for Bob.
I would NEVER have considered PXG at all due to their previous pricing but now they would show up in my radar as it were. And I have to say I am very very surprised at the two issues you have had with TaylorMade Stealth driver faces popping out; very strange to see that happen.

Without reading the comments…how do you, in good conscience, stay with the stealth when it may fail you mid-round? Regardless of the driver, the only one that has had consistent construction issues has been the stealth. I vote no confidence for the TM stealth…and I have TM irons.
Maybe give the G430 LST another go. You got along with it in your previous videos, but stealth had 2 more yards of distance.
Depends on durability since your stealth 2 keeps breaking lol, but I would consider putting the pxg in the bag Pete.

PXG Driver are super forgiving and long. I hit a few drives where I almost missed the face and half of the balls printed on the face and balls end on the fairway with a few lost of yards... its crazy forgiving.
No need to reconsider Pete, time to ditch the Taylormade. Multiple friends of mine have had the same issue with both stealth and stealth 2. TM quality in the woods category is ridiculously bad
Does the gen6 sound muted or is it more high pitch like a ping.
Recently converted to a PXG driver in 7.5 degrees inch shorter and never hit the ball so straight in 30 years of playing. Nice review Pete 👍

Forget the Stealth 2! Two out of two had fatal failure in less than 6 months?! For a lot of us casuals, a $600 driver better last Years, not months. I greatly appreciate you sharing that information. Do what you want, personally I would not want to see you legitimize a flawed product.
first the carbon crowns were popping off of the Sim/Sim2, now the faces are doing the same thing on the Stealth/Stealth2. Its almost as though they didn't learn their lesson the first time.
does this have any bearing on the club face collapsing yet again on the stealth 2 ?
