First year flower grower and I love all the ones you mentioned. The cosmos I find fiddly for bouquets but they are so prolific and the bee's love them that I will keep growing them. I have a few bee hives so the dahlias and sunflowers have been amazing. It's summer here in New Zealand and we are in full flower mode. Love it.
My flower garden is a beautiful wild mess and I love it for exactly that reason! I work full time and have two TH-cam channels and 6 grandbabies and I just don’t beat myself up, there isn’t enough time in the day. As you get older you learn to let the little stuff grow and realize nature is perfect the way it is even if is a wild beautiful mess of blooms! It’s all beautiful! Your flowers are gorgeous! Interested in China asters they look so pretty and I’ve never seen those before
@@SouthernYankee I love everything you said! I’m still learning to fully embrace the mess, but little by little I’m getting there. Thank you so much for your comment 💜 and I think you should definitely plant some China Asters next year 😎
Wow did you have a beautiful season!!! I love the imperfections! And plant people are happy and positive people, or at least they should be 😊💕 You have a fun channel girly, thank you for sharing!!
@@lisajelle714 Yes!! I love the Madame Butterfly snaps, they’re so beautiful! I’ll have to look and see if I can find a light pink to replace my short little Appleblossom snaps 😁
My favourite i grew from seed this year were the Spun Sugar celosia from Floret! SUCH good production, so fluffy, so pretty. I also had fun with some sunflowers that finally turned out. we had a really wet summer in Ontario, so my Dahlias didn't make it to bloom, nor did my Zinnias. Next year i'm focusing on celosia, sunflowers and might try yarrow too!
@@natalieast3516 That sounds so beautiful! I LOVE celosia! I ordered the spun sugar seeds, but didn’t end up planting any because I ran out of room 😅. But I’m going to have to find some space for them next year! Im sorry about your dahlias and zinnias, though. We get a lot of rain some summers and I just have to take a couple deep (DEEP) breaths and accept the damage to my more sensitive flower varieties, but it’s never easy for me 😁

You should experiment with other varieties of bee balm for quicker blooms. I think lemon is my favorite currently. Also Bergamo and Spielarten mix are good. If you get a good patch going they can reseed for you but I usually try to save seeds from my favorite for seed security. Thanks for the video. BTW, I struggle with providing structure for my flowers too.

Hi Alex! Do you amend your soil at all or fertilize weekly? I've grown apricot Giant China Asters for the last two years, and mine are compact with small blooms. About 12 inches tall with 2 inch blooms. 🤷♀️
@@kristasclass Hi 😊 I don’t really fertilize my plants, but I do amend my soil. This year I did a mix of fish compost and steer manure and it worked out really nicely. But honestly, China Asters have been tough for me. The last couple years they’ve grown really well, but it took a bit of trial and error getting there 💜
