I still call sweet peas my gateway flower. I was always team "annual flowers are too much faff, only perennials" until my first year with home grown sweet peas
I love to winter sow now. Many of my seedlings died last year because I started them way too early and they were in pots for too long by the time I was able to put them in the ground. Winter sowing is the way to go. and direct sowing is awesome for me. So easy. I love yarrow.
Zinnias were my gateway flowers. Started out with 2 varieties, and this year I will be planting 8, I think. I am not a flower farmer, they're just for me. 😂
hydrangeas for me in the first year. But it turned out to be really beautiful in the next year. It's my favorite now next to my dahlias. Loved your top 10..
