Really liked this video (and all your other videos too). The real key is having a really clean surface and remembering you have to have the 3M weatherstrip adhesive on both the weatherstrip and trunk (and do wait for it to dry a bit - it’s hard to wait but it really does work). The installation of the trunk weatherstrip went perfect on my 1957 210 2-door sedan thanks to your great video. Cleaning, prepping and painting the trunk channel before installation was the big time consumer! Don’t cut corners when it comes to preping!
Yep! Since this was on fresh paint, cleaning wasn't a step that I had to worry about, but I can see how it might be challenging to marry a new weatherstrip over old paint, dirt and road grime!
Awesome! There are quite a few garage warriors following along that have their own tri-five projects going. Definitely share your progress when you do!
So incredibly helpful! My ‘56, Betty Lou, is about 4 months behind you. VERY similar builds and your videos are invaluable. Just finished the trunk lid today!
That's awesome! Just be careful about some of the work that you do that doesn't really get tested until many months later. Some of the metal fit-up that I did is now causing me headaches 2 years later, AFTER paint. One day, I will make follow-up videos with tips on what I might do differently. Keep us in the loop on Betty Lou!
Thanks for the advice ! I am restoring a 55 now . This weather strip on the trunk helped a bunch. I probably am to precise but that’s the way I am. THANKS !
Those were next! Put the driver's side on last weekend and then the passenger side yesterday. I was able to do it all by myself but it was a bit hairy! LOL!
Very Nice! Good pointers, especially about the adhesive. I would have been nervous about waiting that long for the adhesive to dry, but worked for you, so now I can rest assured it will work for me. :)
For some reason my comments are getting deleted ... so I'll try again ... probibly not the last time you'll chip the paint ... it takes a while for those seals to settle down ... lookin good ...
You are correct on how crisp and clean that looks! Christine looks so great in color now. Out of curiosity, do you plan to do any type of wet sanding and buffing? From I can see in the video almost looks like you don’t have to? That paint really laid down smooth!
No, but I think I saw evidence of there being something there when I disassembled. I have a sheet of pond liner that's like innertube thick. I might cut that up to use here and there.

Well that looked easy. Nice work Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing you do the doors as that is next on my 55.

I haven't discovered any amount of time where it won't stick to itself after it dries!
🎉 great job 🎉
Thank you!

You are right! I'm touching little stuff up here and there. My suspicion is that the pros go through this and just don't fess up to it!

Yes! I plan to do that as soon as I get the doors on and before I reinstall the stainless.
DO YOU HAVE INFO ON THE ANTI SQUEAK KIT,,,,FOR THE FRONT FENDERS,,,??? THANK YOU
