To be fair it felt slightly out of place, but it also made sense in a weird way. I guess a theme based on Kenny's theme would've been perfect. Just like Before Lights Out evolved from Ape Titan.

Two moments struck me during their dialogue:

Shows both the determination and the pain within Levi. He's literally lost everyone he cared about, while being too strong to suffer the same fate as his comrades. He keeps on fighting, as not doing so would dishonor the fallen. A true leader of men, Captain Levi!

He never said 'shinzo wo sasageyo' but he always meant that to the deep of his core
Dedicated himself to his friends then Erwin and then humanity
The tragic hero who is, was and never will be the worth he is

Levi is the real protagonist, the real hero. He is not enslaved to the idea of freedom, he doesn't crave for some dream or satisfy an addiction to make his life worth something. He is a simple man who does what he needs to do yet is capable of thinking for himself. Levi is more free than Eren who is enslaved to his own cravings for freedom.
I agree, one more thing to add, is that Levi is a failure, he failed to protect Farlan and Isabel, he failed to keep his squads alive, he failed to kill Zeke twice, and still doesn't give up, he knows that outside of war, he has no purpose in life, but still fights, because he has to be the hero, this guy is the MC
I agree with you, but I don't think Levi is more free than Eren. Levi desperately wants to kill Zeke (or at least cut off his limbs and make some titan eat him). Even in the latest episode, he tells himself, "Finally I get to keep the promise that I gave you Erwin". So, I felt like Levi is also bound by this promise he made for Erwin and the revenge against Zeke, which doesn't make him completely free. (Btw, I am not a manga reader, so, I might not know everything)
Well isn’t a Levi a slave to his desires as well. His desire to keep his promise to Erwin was explicitly mentioned in the episode. The whole point of the show is that everyone is enslaved by something. There is no good or bad guy. There are just different masters.

its a heartbreaking scene as well.... Although he may seem cold and blunt from time to time, Levi cares so much about his squad (like that scene where he looks at the titan and remembers the squad member's name immediately and asks if he's still in there)
levi, the only humanity strongest soldier that stay sane even after several attempts happened to him. He still have the motivation to do something that will save others. He still give the best even he lost everything. He lost his comrades, he lost his eyes, he almost lost his legs, but until the end, he become the one living legend that valuable enough for Isayama to build a statue for him. Salute, captain.
