    This is plain wierd. Washington has never been good at Football. The conference wouldn't matter. Boise State is much better in a smaller conference. No high school football recruit is going to want to travel from Washington State to Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Illinois to play sports while pursuing a college education(in the winter?). This is like the 40 year old women on ESPN interviewing the college football players after a game. Its like Extra reporters at movie awards. Its sad and awkward in college sports. Adults acting aquard elephants in the room.

      I don't think that will be to often. I think the BIG will use a format like the SEC was going to go to if they go to 9 league games. 3 Permanent teams and you rotate the other games. UW's 3 permanents will likely be UCLA, OR and USC + 6 from the other group, then rotate 6 from the other group of non-permanent teams, etc.

I’m sure they didn’t enter your mind when you signed your life away so that OSU and Michigan can get stronger. Don’t believe? Ask PSU and Nebraska how they’ve enjoyed their slow declines from the heights of college football. Money is nice but wins are sweeter.

    • @Gmonayy189
      @Gmonayy189 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Penn St is actually a really strong program. Pac 12 had weak teams to in Cal and Colorado and most years Oregon st so yeah Washington will still play Oregon, Usc, and Ucla and now will get to play Ohio st , Iowa, Mich st, and Michigan. Yeah life is good

    • @heartbreak25
      @heartbreak25 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      PSU is 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl beating the PAC-12 champ last year. The only 2 losses came to 2 out of the 4 playoff teams. PSU would've qualified for the 12-team playoff 5 out of the last 7 years. That's after recovering from massive sanctions that weren't lifted till 2014. PSU is the 9th ranked team in ratings and averages a top 10 recruiting class under Franklin since 2015. PSU has played in 4 NY6 bowls which only 5 other teams have done. PSU is also one of 5 teams to have 6 players drafted to the NFL in 6 consecutive seasons to include Saquon Barkley and Micah Parsons. And it's not our fault we couldn't play Nebraska for the natty in 1994 and OSU was selected for the playoffs over us in 2016 despite us beating OSU and winning the B1G. PSU is 3-3 against Michigan the last 6 years and 6-6 the last 12. To compare PSU to Nebraska shows you're ignorant.

    • @reverend_wintondupree
      @reverend_wintondupree ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What was UW supposed to do? This is just as much about relevancy as it is money. We are inevitably entering a closed P2/3 system less be relegated to smaller time football.
      But the move to the B1G also means more east coast presence, more national alumni outreach for those in NY, Chicago, LA, etc to be able to attend games and follow the team. It allows national recruiting for both athletics and non athletics thanks to that exposure. And it also creates an additional affiliation with the B1G network to extend to other endeavors.
      If it's UW's prerogative to remain part of a power football conference than this was their only move.

      Well he was 100% correct about the recruiting. All the big recruits in Washington were LEAVING. It is impossible to play big boy football if all of your top recruits are going East becasue the PAC10 commissioners had their heads up their ASSES for 20+ years which destroyed the conference. This conference did not fall apart in the last year. This is a DECADES old problem which has DESTROYED recruiting on the west Coast for the PAC10/12.

    The Pac has always been perceived as inferior to other conferences and that was never going

    see who's inferior. GO DUCKS stomp the puppies (that won't change either)

      It was not always perceived as inferior. Up until the early 2010s it was a fine confrence. The BIG 10 went through a similar stretch without having a team in the top 4 from 2008 to 2013. My memory is fuzzy but I imagine in those years the Pac 10 was considered the second best confrence.

  • @ramspencer5492
    @ramspencer5492 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's also a very somber moment. It's a pretty mixed development actually. The leadership really messed up the conference for the past decade. If the PAC had had good leadership, they might have have been really competitive with the B1G right now.....and that would probably have been much healthier for college football, long-term.
    Under the circumstances however, This was the only real move...a good move. And as daunting as the conference is going to be..... (Teams that traditionally might win 10 games probably only winning eight......) There are going to be some exciting Saturdays. Some really great matchups....
