    I’ll never forget in Kindergarten we had a Easter Bonet Contest. I wanted to make a Mad Hatter Top Hat. The teacher spent hours helping me create it out of cardboard and construction paper. It had the lid up with the yellow eyes showing and laser beams shooting out. I was so proud walking past the judges with it on. And guess what? I WON!!!!

    I never realized when I was a kid just how much effort these character actors put into this very silly show. A lot of them could have phoned it in, but almost none of them did. Gorshin, Buono, Wayne, Price, Kitt, McDowall etc.

    In the cartoon, the Mad Hatter was a sympathetic wimpy little man in love with a girl he couldnt have. In the campy series, he was a vengful maniacle villan.

      William, I agree with your assessment about the wardrobe of Mad Hatters henchman. The actors were impeccably groomed and I loved their attire. The boutanries were a wonderful piece of their wardrobe.

    Fun story: When I was in college, I planned to make a Batman Fan Film starring the Mad Hatter (I had seen a lot of Batman Fan Films around that time and none of them involved the Mad Hatter so I wanted him to star, even though he wouldn't be the main villain), I asked my Graphic Design professor (A HUGE Batman fan) if he'd like to play the villain, he enthusiastically said yes, but he thought that he would be playing this version of the character, I showed him the Arkham version and he was genuinely terrified, but still willing to play the character, even got his own costume. I sadly never got to make the film as I couldn't get the equipment and I couldn't get anyone to play Batman (Kinda important in a Batman film)

    It’s really crazy how some characters were portrayed way different, also wished they would’ve used other characters like Killer Croc, Zsasz, Hugo Strange, Killer Moth, and others but of course it had its limits

    • @camerondodge2070
      @camerondodge2070 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, Croc and Zsasz are more recent inventions, though they did use Moth for an unaired Batgirl pilot. You can still find it out there. There were other attempts and near misses as well, Shame's second appearance took Hugo's fear gas gimmick (long before Scarecrow), and they had a Two-Face script written, even got in contact with Clint Eastwood to play Two-Face. That last one got a comic adaptation at least.

    David Wayne was a great as the Mad Hatter. The top part of this hat has those eyes that pop out to paralyzed people to sleep. Roddy McDowall did the voice of the Mad Hatter in Batman the Animated series, before he died in September of 1998.
