I’ve had some of these feast and famine times myself. Personally, as a private English teacher I do like most of the work. I tend to work a few unsocial hours but given the culture in Brazil, this is not a big issue, I mean, we are sort of used to it. My concern is more about the future, I’d like to do something I do not have to be in front of my clients/students to earn a few extra quid. Tks for the tips. Great video.
Thanks, Rachel. SME since 2018 for tax reasons; in the red because of bad cash flow, though good number of students pay all bills. Pandemic hit, I had to make-do. Answers: 1. I've put in good number of hours; could be better if not for return to office, hybrid model, my schedule is not fixed; it's flextime. No complaints; paying bills. 2. Satisfied #8. A1-A2 levels and translation jobs that required editing box per box on PowerPoint always help increase my sugar blood levels. 3. Work-life #6. Again, flextime. We teachers are good people and open to change last minute.
4. Visibility and Marketing. Little by little online. Former and current students refer students to me. Gotta move and get online with better rates, according to what I can offer. Then I'll be able to focus on my niche: adults, low-mid posts in companies. Media, IT, Sales and Communication areas. 5. I want my whiteboard back, and the water jug. The former to exercise expansion, and use cursive, not typing. The latter to socialize in English and promote conversation before class. EAT turned teacher solopreneur.
