    The middle line just showcases ships which are in reserve when you are over the combat width.

    One tip that you can use when attacking with damaged fleet (or joining Athens in this video) - you can check individual ship morale by splitting the navy, than you detach low morale ships. They can have low morale after battle even though they aren't much damaged.

  • @bioemiliano

    SO THAT'S WHY! I always had this feeling that winning the first naval battle of a war was easier, it's because they don't actually have full morale

  • @RomanRembolovich
    @RomanRembolovich ปีที่แล้ว +7

    just in case if someone need to know what admiral's pips doing. fire/shock are same as in land battle. maneuver 10% engagement width/ 5% trade power/ 5% movement speed, at 6 its gonna be 60%/30%/30% respectfully. siege +10% development blockade per ship. basically less ships needed. exactly speaking 10% of ships per pips (rounded to bigger, because blockade ability depend of Tactical speed ). conclusion if you have big amount of ships maneuver is crucial. if you have naval width accurate stacks, high quality and don't want to reinforce your battles then fire will be better, if you wanna demolish your enemy. shock if you wanna force him to retreat or capture ships.

    • @BlurbFish
      @BlurbFish 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Maneuver pips also reduce fleet attrition by 1% meaning that at +5 maneuver pips your fleet stops taking atrition from coastal batteries. The extra blockade efficiency from siege pips also means that the maximum income from blockaded ports is increased (i.e. your opponent loses more money, and you gain more money). Note also that +10% blockade efficiency does not equal to -10% ships needed per development as you claim it is.

  • @jansatamme6521
    @jansatamme6521 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    funny patch to do this on since ships are broken right now, especially heavies and this is soo sad cuz now the british man o' wars are useless cuz they lose to galleys everywhere and probably also to light ships everywhere. Also ships go red when they hit 0% personal morale and in that state take 10x the damage. Losing ships is also very bad because every ship takes morale damage and with bigger fleets this on most occasions ends up with the side that loses more ships spiraling and losing even more ships. This isnt that big of a problem with smaller fleets because there just 1st isnt enough damage to trigger a spiral and there also arent enough ships for the spiral to happen. You also don't have to leave a battle immediately to cycle, you can stick in there until one of your ships goes red and it is also worth it to cycle a winning battle soo you can sink more ships and not trigger a force retreat.

    • @vartosu11
      @vartosu11 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Stategically, it was better to retreat there anyway, since otherwise he'd have lost 1-2 ships needlessly (they were red, thus focus-fired). After reinforcing later on, Athens didn't lose anything and was confortably at 80%+ durability with their ships.

  • @merchanttube2036
    @merchanttube2036 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem with breaking down the most optimal way of fighting is it's never going to be applicable because the country with the better economy is always going to just win by having a bigger fleet. If you're fighting a battle where it's coming down to the wire like this over every ship it's a war you probably shouldn't have started.

    • @bomontius
      @bomontius ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ai almost never sends their ships back to reinforce, you can attack them and retreat a couple of times and then you can destroy their fleet. they only send their ships after they lose the battle

    • @vartosu11
      @vartosu11 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This breakdown is made PRECISELY to assist players in being able to tackle nations with bigger fleets, and to better judge their chances.
      A good player can reliably demolish an AI with 50% bigger fleet than them by carefully chipping the enemy fleet and strategically retreating.
      At the same time, it allows players to avoid picking naval ideas and still be able to handle AI fleets with those idea sets just fine.
      When playing in single player (like most people usually do), and you start the game, many nations will have bigger fleet than you do. Simply waiting 'till you overtake them in fleet count isn't really an ideal way to do things.
      Not to mention, when playing certain small nations, like Byzantium, if you aren't capable of wrestling naval control early from the Ottomans, you'll never be able to overcome their fleet (since their fleet limit is higher, they can build in more provinces at once and they got more money too) and this might just make the run impossible afterwards.

  • @RomanRembolovich
    @RomanRembolovich ปีที่แล้ว +1

    and about navy warfare in general. i don't know why pdx created so complicated naval system, without reasonable need. same as in hoi4 vast majority of players don't understand how this mechanic works. and they will not because just to get basics you need to do too much work. my thought, basic game mechanics should not be so complex. i hope in future they will simplify this part of the game. and more people will be able to operate their fleets properly.
