I'd forgotten how much I loved this video and how very useful it was to real hunters, excellent, John, posted to several mates who have been wondering about the effectiveness of slingshots as a hunting tool. Real lesson from a real hunter, nice one lad. Baz
Just bought some 12.7mm steel ball and your gamekeeper hunting bands for my first slingshot that I made by hand; exited to have them ship in and get into slingshot hunting!
@we66y357 yeah i prefere the larger ammo aswell, it takes some serious power to go through all that meat, also theres the ribcage that it had to go through, i think a gamekeeper catapult and 12mm lead balls would take any game :)
Hey John !! As always great video! Please tell me what is the weight of 12mm lead ? In my country just some steal like from 7 mm till 9.5 are available.
nice vid john mate,,yep i aggree mate the good old 12mm lead takes some beating,it seems to be the best balance between speed and impact weight, atb,,wayne.
@OLDMANSBALLBAG i just bought one of your pocket poachers...but i got really little ammo i bought from walmart...where do you get your ammo? and what kind would you recommend for bird hunting?

I remember watching this the first time around and being so impressed 🤣
You got me into the sport mate many thanks👍
8mm seems to keep all the impact energy in the target. Don't always want the projectile going in and straight out, especially with a body shot.
I've made 2 catapults since watchin your vids they are lethal watched your aiming vid aswell great new hobby cheers good hunting
Mate!!!! Proberbly the best series of instructional vids about Cat's on TH-cam but honestly bud you really do need another couple of cameras!!!!
I was surprised it went right through,I'm getting one of these now.

GAMEKEEPER JOHN No shit like a FUCKING bullet boy.
What distance were you shooting it at?? Also what band setup please?..12 mm lead ..perfect!!👍😊
He's old gamekeeper bands were 30mm to 20mm tbg if I remember correctly, could be 30mm to 25mm though.

9.5mm steel will kill or incapacitate pigeons etc
Wow just shows you how powerful they are.....

@RH697 thank you, some cool slingshots on them sites...idk what im'a do bout ammo yet seems kinda pricey...probably stick with free ammo...rocks :D
Hi john, what kind of tapering do you use on your hunting bands?
Also, the lead's getting just over 17 ft/lb. A lot more powerful than a legal UK air rifle.
You know

that was good! Thank You!
can i purchase ammo mate?
@EpikSkape You can shoot them in any hand, thanks john
@rustlerbadass i would recommend at least 12mm to be honest, john
8mm is fine, I’d say 12mm is the most you’d want if anything
Well, that's a novel way to tenderize your meat.
Tell me where to buy those Ruber bands please
Amazon or ebay, but the best bands are the double color gzk, faster, more durable and stretch factor of 8 (max)
Have I got this right. 163 mph. No wonder it went in one side and out the other.
NICE!!!!!!!
Disclaimer: No animals were harmed during the making of this video. ;)
Where any chickens harmed in the making of ur video clip ?
does the UK allow air guns?
yes
Under 12ftlb no licence over requires a firearms cert and a valid reason to want it. Ie going hunting on a farm or club and or both
for hunting small game like doves and rabbits which ammo would do a humanely kill ??
Mohamad Taha 6mm plastic BB can't go wrong
St George plastic won't do it at all ,I would use 9.5mm ball bearings and 25-20mm single thereband gold

hello, great catapults , Can i buy from you ? what ones do you have for sale .
I thought pigeons had very protective feathers
I know its a chicken of course but for game
Under Bridge That's not as powerful as you think. And feathers do make a big difference, especially when you're at a distance longer than 5 feet.
A bit late but i have had complete pass thru pigeons at 20m with 9.5 steel
