Thankyou for this video. My children are in their forties now and it’s becoming harder and harder to remember the details of how delightful they were at Jack’s age and this video reminded me of those golden times.
Ha! As you say - what a great story, if nothing else! 😆👍🏻⛵️😁 And I’m totally with you on the long shots, some of my biggest successes have been accomplished soon after I embarked “on another crazy adventure” 😁👍🏻🙏🏻
great episode, sorry to see the damage to the boat, but those new windows are looking nice! such a shame about buffy too, hopefully shell turn up somewhere!
Quite relieved to see that you managed to keep Aeolus unscathed during the past gales. They were quite scary, to be honest. I am also honoured to be part of your story. The way you told the adventure of Buffy and Sancho was absolutely hilarious. In Sancho's defence I must say he probably didn't feel like calling the harbour because he owed them money and also because of the language barrier. Either way I agree with the moral you found to the story. Seize the day and let the journey be your destination, rather than the destination itself. Keep going guys!
Great logic from Jack there, the leak probably comes from the rain ha ha, some good maintenance ongoing there, what a story about the sad loss of a boat. As you say, you have to sometimes take the chance on these thjngs
A great channel to show the livaboard life from a child's perspective. Just love hearing your English as I am use to hearing people here speak "American". Hope I get to sail your part of the world someday.
That’s lovely! Thanks for your comment and support. Every like and every comment means the world to us and genuinely helps our channel as it shows the “TH-cam computer” that we are engaging people. Glad you’re enjoying the content :)
LOL so true good story , I read a sailing book Once around the world with Ridgeway , He lived In Aberdeen The Ridgeway school of Adventure , I stil rremember that book like it was yesterday
" We have a leak and we don't know where its coming from" "well its probable coming from the rain." Bahahahaha He's a clever fellow hahahaha. That was brilliant.
Hi all, fantastic video from a new subscriber! Very interested to see the upgrades and tinkering you do with the yacht. I have just bought one of similar size also needing a few upgrades. I would be interested to hear which model/where you got the 12v/USB/volt-meter from and whether you would recommend it? Happy sailing.
Ed L G Hiya, I’ll find you a link to the panel I got from ebay. That one just shows battery voltage and has a usb output and stuff. For proper battery monitoring you need to watch amps really so for that I use the NASA BM1 system with a shunt resistor wired in. That’s much more expensive and complicated to set up but it’s definitely worth it. Thanks so much for subscribing Episode 5 is coming out in the next few days so make sure you hit the notification bell so you get an alert when it comes out :)
That wasn't much luck first a storm then a sunken boat but Andy u very right every thing good or right it a new experience where u can learn of like a expert is actually someone who made every possible mistake and learn from that
When I went to get my current little boat Ringy she was 2 hours north of where I live and the temperature was -22° The boat was suposed to be on a road worthy trailer but we only got about 60km down the road before the bearings failed and the trailer caught fire. We were pulling her with a large cargo van and couldn't see her so we dragged her a long way before another motorist flagged us down. I had to leave her in a truck stop parking lot untill I could make the drive up again with an even bigger trailer to retrive everything. She's been a well behaved little boat since.
Adam Grieve yes you’re right of course. We out the blue roll up and then the rain started and it was obvious withing abojt 5 minutes the rain was seeping throuhh many areas of the frame. So that is what made me just bite the bullet and replace all the windows and we’ve had no leaks since . The boat is bone dry inside now in all weathers. Lovely
Adam Grieve I’ve dont windows this way on yachts before and althouhh it changes the look of the vessel I think it’s by far the strongest, most reliable, most waterproof, easiest to do and easiest to maintain method. It’s not the cheapest but I try, as far as possible, to do things on a “do it right and do it once” philosophy. So those windows will never need doing again most likely
My sons boat is like that, but we've got aluminium frames and tempered glass windows which are opening so would like to keep them, just need to get down to boat to reseal them, how's boat hunting going, we're looking at liveaboards too
Adam Grieve well we actually have a couple of boats coming up in future episodes, one of which is more than likely to become our bluewater home. But I don’t want to say too much as it’s all pretty exciting stuff for after lockdown
Ha, my son was living in Aberdeen when it popped up on eBay. I suggested he consider it as mooring fees were cheaper than his rent. And he speaks Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. But no.
Your irrepressible attitude is exactly why you'll be celebrating one of Jack's childhood birthdays on the hook in some secluded magical Mediterranean bay someday.
What a terrific attitude - what doesn't kill you, makes you STRONGER!!! Live and learn.

@@SailingMelody Thanks! I'll investigate the BM1
I like the way of talking about Jack because I can understand 🤟🇫🇷
Thank you! Jack works very hard to speak clearly.

The blue roll is a good idea but with living onboard you will get condensation on the glass which soaks the roll

That job I've got this year, got a few leaks in Windows as well as other projects

700miles each way :-)
Better off with bilge keels in your area.

😂😂 exactly true
