26:59 "I really hope Norn wasn't one of the girls." In the LN we learn that L & P thought she was too young. Afterwards, L & P thank their Gods that they didn't mess with Norn because they know Rudy would have liquidated them.
Fun Fact (which I literally just learned after searching the song): The special ending for ep 15 was sung by the VA for Nanahoshi! It ended with Nanahoshi singing into a spoon too, so I guess it was supposed to be Nanahoshi singing with everyone. What a cute and fun detail!
@@x_Degurechaff_x also, in the LN it was described as anime openings I think. tsubasa isnt an anime OP for any show afaik. also, it was a super popular song in japan back in 2004ish, which makes sense when you remember that the WN started in 2012,which i think is the basis for the canon year the story starts at. same reason the bullies that Rudy faced had flip phones instead of smart phones
The episode of Nanahoshi was CINEMA! And as an extra fact, the ending of the chapter 15 was performed by Nanahoshi's seiyuu, Shion Wakayama. In the novel, she sings "Gandhara", which is the ending theme of the Japanese television series "Monkey Magic", as well as other songs from old anime. While in the anime, the song she performs is "Tsubasa" by the band Undergraph, a song that we see Nanahoshi humming in episode 9 of the second season. Whether by chance or not, Shion Wakayama, the same Seiyuu who voices Nanahoshi, performs the song "Gandhara" in the anime "Her Blue Sky."
18:37 Norn's hair is actually supposed to be blonde like Zenith's. Rudeus and Paul share the same hair color, but it's supposed to be slightly more brown than what you see in the anime. Lilia's and Aisha's hair color is also supposed to be brown, but Shirotaka (LN illustrator) colored it halfway between brown and red and Rifujin (author) kinda just went along with it.
In the LN Rudy did a lot of his morning training (his sword training specifically) with Badigadi, so that is the likely reasoning for his presence that morning.
Norn and Aisha are about the same age, Norn was conceived a month before Aisha, and they have the same birthday. Lilia was very stressed because Norn was a breech birth. That stress caused Lilia to go into labor prematurely.
What I love most about this series is the constant almost feedback loop that we see. Rudeus has been through so much in his past life and present one that he's constantly seeing in others what might have happened if things just went slightly a different way. He also now sees how his withdrawal and choices look from an outside pov. In many cases he takes what he has learned and passes his growth as a person onto others hoping to help them out. That is some amazing writing right there. The best kind of story is one that echoes and doesn't let past events or experiences just vanish as if they never happened.
@@stephenrhoades8686 That's an intense episode. But it has the happy ending. 16 starts off happy and keeps diving deeper into despair. That end shot of Norn copying Rudy REALLY HURT.
So glad to have you guys back. There's nobody else I'd rather see reacting to this show, your genuine interest and appreciation for everything about Mushoku Tensei always shine through.
The problem with letters in that world is that the travel times add up. Paul's letter in episode 15 was a reply to the letter Rudeus had sent when he applied to the university. His letter arrived only a few months before the girls did, and they traveled at best speed for a year. So if there is an SOS or a call to arms from Begaritt, you're looking at several months at minimum for a message to arrive. And then there's the travel time there. Rudeus had already calculated it to take a year, before he made the decision to enroll at the university.
Ruijerd is like a traveling Super Hero (and the Greyrat´s personal Tour Guide I guess). Point is, he can´t stay to long at a place were no one is in danger T_T
50:09 - yea she wanted something non living with a small mass. it just happened to be a plastic bottle and it makes sense considering the abundance of that we have.
Great reaction video. I always love watching you two discuss everything afterward. As a Light Novel reader, I have a few Non Spoiler tidbits of info for you. In regard to Rudeus's sister's age, Norn was brought to full term by Zenith and Lilia ended up going into labor prematurely after helping with the birth. So Aisha is younger and about a month premature. In regard to monogamy in this world, those who follow the Millis faith like Cliff can be compared to Christians in our world. Lastly, Badigadi would routinely come over to Rudy's house for breakfast and to accompany him on his morning workouts.
To understand why Rudy can't master voiceless healing, healing magic requires you to put your mana into the person you are healing and alter its flow to cause the healing. Rudy's mana capacity is so great that when someone heals him he can't feel the change in his mana flow because it's too great. It's basically like dropping a pebble into the sea, it might make a splash and a ripple but the sea isn't going to appear to change at all. Also in this world, unless you are a follower of Milis, there really isn't any ceremony or anything else to declare you to be married. People just see that you live together and you say you're married so you're married. It's also not seen as the marriage being complete until you have a child so in a way there is some pressure on Sylphie to have a child for fear that Rudy might leave and find someone else who can have his kids. Sylphie is sort of trying to prevent this by proposing an alternative plan that would allow Rudy to have kids and not leave her. Finally the knife was very much about suicide, or at least to Rudy it was. Remember how he almost killed himself when the ED thing first happened. In the LN he basically removes anything from her room that he thinks she could use to harm herself as when he found her when she was screaming in her tower she was banging her head against the wall and trying to pull the skin off her face. The anime toned it down a bit.
I never thought I would be scratching at the neck waiting for uploads on a channel but you guys are way too entertaining with your discussions. Take the time you need, we will always wait for you guys!
I wonder if magic circles work on specifying conditions, in which case a plastic bottle would require very few, namely: transparent, bottle, bendable. What else has those properties? Some monster's sack?
I'm surprised.... no comments about Ginger? 😂 Loved seeing both of your reactions at the same time when it was revealed what Linia and Pursena had been working on! 🤣🤣🤣
LN context on Aisha's life so far and perspective (Not Spoilers): Aisha might come off as arrogant here but trust me both of these kids are lucky enough to have survived through all the trauma over the past couple of years to end up at Rudy's house. When they were younger, Aisha and Norn used to live with Zenith's parents/Norn's grandmother, who are nobles in their own right. Of course they didn't like Lilia and her daughter and since they didn't really like Paul either (it was Zenith's own decision to settle down with him), they made sure to drill that fact into Aisha. Lilia, her mother, was also a problem. She could never really overcome her own guilt of seducing Paul which is why she was always really strict on Aisha and basically groomed her to be a perfect maid. What threw a wrench in the whole process is that Aisha did spend some time independently when her mother was locked up (before they reunited with Paul at the end of S1). This gave her an identity of self-confidence that didn't take too kindly to the rules and ridicule she faced later. That's why while enduring the abuse at home, she tried her best to excel Norn at everything in school. Even when she and her mother reunited with Paul, she couldn't really have the same love Norn received from her dad because Lilia was always there. That's why finally when they were left with Ruijerd, it was her time to shine. And shine she did, for she completed a year+ long journey in just a few months by traveling even through the night. To Aisha, Norn is a sheltered little princess who gets whatever she wants from her dad, her grandparents, from Ruijerd, and now even from Rudy. To her, she's a stuck-up child who doesn't have any manners and only knows how to cuddle up from one daddy to another when things get tough. On the other hand, she's never been treated like a proper human being by her family yet she tried her best to excel at everything she could. She even studied for the entrance exam in secret while taking care of the house because she lets her merit do the talking unlike Norn's puppy eyes. That's why when even Rudy, the one person who she thought was as adventurous and open-minded as her, also listened to Norn's request to stay in the dorms even though she didn't get the score to let that demand be heard, her dam kinda broke for a moment. Of course, she's able to understand that Rudy only has good intentions and gets back on her feet in no time because she's the best girl. I'm well aware of Norn's problems too and it's not like I hate her too. I'm just stating what Aisha thinks of her up to this point.
Really looking forward to your reaction to episode 17 as it is true masterpiece. Also make sure you stick around to the end to see the title for episode 18 🥲
I've missed watching you both! I'm glad you're doing a bit better Ben. I am super excited to see the next reaction video, but I hope you take all the time you need getting to your best self!
badi showing up at the grayrat home is a pretty normal thing he actually has breakfast there from time to time (it was cut from the LN but i get why it was just a passing detail anway)
they actually share the same age, Lilia went in to labor prematurely caused by stress because Norm Birth wanst going whell making Aisha born from 7-8 months
You can even hear Aisha call her "Norn-nee" addressing her as the older sister but the subs decided to just not bother with that. Which is understandably hard to localize as "big sister Norn" just sounds awkward which is why IMO the translations should just keep honorifics specially when it adds to the story.
Really glad you guys are back, it's really hard to find a good reactor that understands the world, story, and characters so much that they actually predict revelations coming in future episodes

1:04:10 this kind of thing that makes me really like your reactions. You are both very smart people and always consider things outside the "normal", outside our own preconceptions in western society. This is especially good in fantasy stories!
❤ im so glad y'all back, for real, lately my mental health has been terrible but you are always company (i spend a huge amount of the day alone), so its good to have you back, heres for a great month of may, of growth, company, mindfulness and peace.
The ed for the nanahsohi break down episode was sang by nanahoshi, its oke of he favourite songs, and badigadi does tell her to keep singing her weird songs (as its in Japanese and he has no idea what shes saying but he likes it anyway)
In the LN badigadi trains Rudy a lot teaching him about battle auras and other things and sometimes even has breakfast with him which is why he was there
I watched a vid about missed content. Idk if it is correct or not but i choose to believe it. But they said that Badigadi comes over every day to train with Rudy.
What I assume is that since Rudes' mana pool is so big, any magic applying to him would be like a drop of water into the sea, thus he, of course, wouldn't feel anything and couldn't understand what it's like to be applied with healing spells.
Skipped content. There are lines skipped from the novel, Rudeus explains that if norm wanted to skip school she woulndnt be allowed and livng in the dorm is not equal to being allowed to be a maid at home. Also a side chapter goes into that aisia works hard everyday researching the material of the test. If you remember first season it cost 2 gold to attend the school and that is same no matter age, experience or race, that is what rudues meant but it became a missunderstanding. Rudues and sylphy was also pretty drunk looking which the anime didnt do as well when coming home from the party, they used detox magic fast when he realised who werer there tho, messed up first impression. The rest is mostly foreshadowing.
Kinda sucks how much of the novel they speed through sometimes but I get it. One thing that didn't get conveyed well in ep16 was that Rujierd was pretty upset by how Rudy replaced Eris so quickly in his persepctive. Rujierd spent almost three years training Eris and became fully aware of how hard she had fallen for Rudy so it felt way too off for him to be back with Rudy and seeing him married happily to someone else. Made the scene with him addressing Sylphy more impactful too bc up til then it was becoming a concern that he might resent her or have negative feelings towards her. But that's why he seemed to keep bringing Eris up and wanted to leave ASAP which was kinda sad for a reunion
honestly all the episodes comming from here on out will become more and more emotional good luck they killed me in LN format i dont even wanna know what theill do to people in this format
Two episodes, the gods have blessed us!!! I feel like they only touched slightly on this between the two episodes so here's some detail it wasn't conveyed clearly enough: Paul at that time only received Rudy's first letter about enrolling in the academy, how mail used to work in the old world and stuff like that so he didn't get to properly congratulate Rudy on his marriage yet. Second is that Ruijerd can't stay as he still has a duty of changing the reputation of the Superds, maybe find some who may be alive along the way. Third, Aisha actually went through leaps and hoops to make them all arrive as fast as they did. A normal person would take their time with transportation but Aisha was keeping track of all the carriages that were scheduled to arrive from one place to the other and she was dealing personally with mercenaries and negotiating with them. She's a through and through bright and genius girl for her age.
Press F for Ben because they skipped a chapter almost all about zanoba and Featured Ginger a good deal Unless they throw it in later for some reason. Doubt it though
One part that is interest8ng to me is why norn doesnt think to just talk to luke or arial like 1 norn is a noble born she should have some trust or knolledge of her own royal family her father owes fealty to 2 luke is her cousin even if she sees arial as a stranger lukes still literaly her cousin she has family outside rudy and aisha she coukd turn to at the very school
the bit about concubines is one hint to both how messed uo lilia is and how mean rudys grandmother is I may put it in earleir coment but lilia has a inferiority complex and sees rudy as her savior so she groomed aisha to be his maid since she still only saw herself as the families maid so aisha by this worlds standards is the basted child of a servant , Then we got rudy and norns grandmother a follower of milis who hates paul she made paul promise to convert to milis faith when they married but he broke his promise when he slept with lilia but zeniths mother crualy takes that out on aisha somtimes
I totally misunderstood the thing you said "we're proper family now, Family might be growing" at the start. Later I realised that you were talking about the prev episode. Got me exited there for a min.🤭
21:30 „Rudy is so good at this“ In the books, there are many pages of inner dialog about this. We just get the results. We also didn't get, how Rudy always thinks about having sex with Aisa, despite being his half sister, even if he isn't really sexually interested in her :)
@@ATom-jm2jw No idea about the manga. What I've seen in youtube videos, the manga covers at least more than the anime. But I hate reading myself. Or rather I can't keep focused for long. The novels is 26 volumes of ~300 pages each. But I found an audio book on YT (probably using some kind of text to speech), which I'm listening to now. Each volume is then around 7 hours. I downloaded the playlist, so I could even listen to it on my way to work. And I set the playback speed to 1.8 at first, but then reduced it to 1.3 when I caught up with the anime. Now I think, the books are much better, but the anime is still a very good adaption containing everything important. Mostly some worldbuilding details (where you get wood on the demon continent, what kinds of magic exist), generic fights or detailed thought processes (like rudy going through all the alternatives, what options he has) are left out.

Glad you both are doing good
I regret to inform you that they skipped the extra chapter with Ginger York.
*Ben in shambles*
Two episodes, the gods have blessed us!!!
I feel like they only touched slightly on this between the two episodes so here's some detail it wasn't conveyed clearly enough:
Paul at that time only received Rudy's first letter about enrolling in the academy, how mail used to work in the old world and stuff like that so he didn't get to properly congratulate Rudy on his marriage yet.
People forget that Lilia isn't just a maid, she's Paul's second wife as well, and Rudeus' second mom.

You are back ❤
Press F for Ben because they skipped a chapter almost all about zanoba and Featured Ginger a good deal
Unless they throw it in later for some reason. Doubt it though
Silent sevebstars is a literal transletion of Nanahoshi Shizuka
"Silent SEVEN-STAR"
"Shizuka NANA-HOSHI"
🔥 Welcome back.
Love your content
I hope you are doing okay. Stay strong!
One part that is interest8ng to me is why norn doesnt think to just talk to luke or arial like
1 norn is a noble born she should have some trust or knolledge of her own royal family her father owes fealty to
2 luke is her cousin even if she sees arial as a stranger lukes still literaly her cousin she has family outside rudy and aisha she coukd turn to at the very school
Missed you guys
the bit about concubines is one hint to both how messed uo lilia is and how mean rudys grandmother is
I may put it in earleir coment but lilia has a inferiority complex and sees rudy as her savior so she groomed aisha to be his maid since she still only saw herself as the families maid so aisha by this worlds standards is the basted child of a servant ,
Then we got rudy and norns grandmother a follower of milis who hates paul she made paul promise to convert to milis faith when they married but he broke his promise when he slept with lilia but zeniths mother crualy takes that out on aisha somtimes
I’m desperate to see your reaction to the Norn episode, 17.
I totally misunderstood the thing you said "we're proper family now, Family might be growing" at the start. Later I realised that you were talking about the prev episode. Got me exited there for a min.🤭
(spoilers)
Btw how tf did Ben predict 42:28 actually a megamind here
Yippie!
Ruijerd is a shipper
Eris is many things, but a diplomat ain't one.
"Hulk, crush" is the best diplomacy out there
honestly disappointed you guys watched the OP. please dont watch it repeatedly and please forget it.
Pollution success
Unc Ruijerd is the G
21:30 „Rudy is so good at this“
In the books, there are many pages of inner dialog about this.
We just get the results.
We also didn't get, how Rudy always thinks about having sex with Aisa, despite being his half sister, even if he isn't really sexually interested in her :)
Jeez, Game of Thrones v2.0. Now you have my attention. On the side note, is these "thoughts" covered in manga? I'm too stupid for LN ;(
@@ATom-jm2jw No idea about the manga.
Jobless reinsurance skipped contant😊❤
They shouldnt have watched that spoilery opening...
Aisha isn't fragile, she is just playing Rudy. Aisha is legit a genius sociopath. She's just built different.
:)
