*June 9:* Competition, where S. Bubka set a new world record of 605 cm. He cleared the basic height of 570 cm on the first attempt, and 605 cm on the first attempt.
After setting the world record, S. Bubka does not immediately attempt to surpass the next progressive height. He has a mental goal of overcoming only one world record per competition. This conserves his mental energy, allows him to better handle the influx of emotions, applause, and admiration from the audience, autograph requests, and he regenerates faster, enabling him to prepare for breaking another world record in a shorter time.
