I worked in a car factory and I know how easy it is to almost literally throw some parts in a jig and weld them up.In these videos it's all about careful measurement, skill and experience.I like watching these videos to see such talented people using their abilities to bring these cars/airplanes/boats etc back to a new life.
Hi Steve and Ryan. Another quality video on restoring these classic cars. I think when you get to the finishing stages of these cars, this channel is going to go nuts. Very few people realise the amount of work that actually goes into these projects . Honestly, I love your channel and the work you do.
Sehr gute Arbeit, Steve. Und vielen dank dafür, dass wir daran teilhaben dürfen. Very good job, Steve. And thank you very much for allowing us to be a part of it.
A craftsman always make it look easy ! , as a skilled tradesman, I watch these videos, and see the love and attention to details that Steve displays, and know that the finished car, is going to be safe strong, and cherished Skilled men like this are few and far between these days, lots of billy bodgers around who will finish it quick, but this car is built to last, and most likely far stronger than when it came off the production line 10 out of 10
I love to see your craftmanship. In this video I kind of feel a little worried about the strenght of the spring / shock absorber holder (basket). The two side stiffeners next to the basket are just spot welded with 2 spot welds to the upper panel and a weld completely on the front to the basket, where the side stifferener is weakest. All stress of the wheel suspension is now taken up mostly by these 2 spotwelds. I would weld the side stiffeners to the basket on the inside, so basket and side stiffereners form one solid construction.
Exactly what I was about to write... Thats not right, why would you not add more weld... Also, the top under section is only part welded, that Definitely needs welding all the way round, or at least on the three visible sides, these bits are very important..... Apart from that this guys work and videography is great......
Great job as always. Would like to have seen some primer on the strut tower top piece before it was welded in place. Strut top rot always seemed to start between that and the inner wing. Perhaps some seam sealer?
I have to say on a personal note what a marvelous job you've done with the front end nice to see another if im correct another AVO built example being bought back to life fine work
Those Yorkshire welders you dont need to use a mask with dont half save some time 😂. Ive become a bit of a junkie for these videos now! With zero previous experience ive been cutting rot out of my mk1 mx5 and fabbing and welding in new bits. Thanks a lot 🙏
Great video 👍 Great you show people the time spent refining the new panels so they fit correctly,as I'm sure a lot of people would assume new out of the box should fit perfectly 😅
Great work and attention to detail, if I were young again! At that time the Escorts were still affordable. I restored some and butchered some to get parts, great time back then and with a Pinto or a tuned 1600 Kent We were at the forefront at the time. Enough chatter!❤
Steve, would be an enormous help if you where to title your videos " episode ?? " would for us viewers binge watching a few months later. Great content / work on what I have watched thus far
Nice job but did you know they sell some spot welders? I had one that was two separate hand held contacts works really great and at an affordable price and a pinch spot welder as well...
Love the channel, I’m hooked on the disaster Datsun, I have a mk1 Capri that needs your talents, shame I’m in Australia, keep up the great work, cheers Steve
Superb content as always. Have had several Mk 1 and Mk2 RS Fords ( Still got one ) the way you could always tell a genuine RS/Mexico was that all the MK 1 cars were built using what Ford termed as the Type 49 body shell. This could be identified by the reinforcing plates on the strut towers very visible when you opened the bonnet. Are these to come ?
Hi love the videos u all do grate job love to get back in to it I use to do that n build hot rods n custome cars 1 thing puzzling me that last bit on the suspension top under wing what that for apart colectin dirt n that m8
I see a lot of times you guys have new replacement panels. even for the inside structures. And I wonder where do you get those replacement panels, especially the internal ones.
Great workmanship Steve, so happy to see the front end all coming together nicely 👌🏽 Was also happy to see that the front crossmember was also a genuine Ford panel, caught a glimpse of the sticker 😎
Because it gives you a lot more movement to get all the panel gaps correct on the front end. Then the type 49 strengthening parts can be welded in afterwards
This really makes you apriciate every little body piece of the car. Every little piece of metal does its part to make the car strong. Really shows why you shouldnt use expanding foam and bondo to fix structural parts. 😂
Fantastic work Steve really good to watch - if I wasn't mistaken I'd think this isn't your first ford Escort rebuild! 🤣Just out of interest, how many times have you welded your mole grips to a car?
Pity that in those days they didn't have the rust proofing technology that todays cars have and plastics double skined rotting inside out, cats were lucky to last 6 years
Ich hatte einen MK 2 1600 Sport, ich habe in geliebt und was macht er,er ist mit dem Rost fremdgegangen der Mistkerl.😭 Video wie immer 👍👍👍⛏⛏⛏ (Mein Abendprogramm)
Skill level with the angle grinder is astounding, using it like precision instrument. Incredible attention to detail 👍
23 minutes of intense watching. Brilliant work, Steve.

One of the best restoration channels on TH-cam, I wish I had this guys skills, could watch these videos all day long!
Being sped up helps too.In real time it's a repetetive, slow, basically boring task that can only be done one way to get it right.
I love watching you work. You could restore my car any time!

Nice work, nice to see the girl has her smile back again 👍
Greeting from the Philippines. Nothing better than having a coffee in the morning & watching your channel.
Great job as always. Would like to have seen some primer on the strut tower top piece before it was welded in place. Strut top rot always seemed to start between that and the inner wing. Perhaps some seam sealer?

Raw talent and skill at work.
Hey guys, one of my favorite projects on your channel. Great work! Greetings from Germany...
So satisfying to see this iconic car being restored so professionally
Great work, it’s no wonder escorts rotted the amount of little traps and double skins, and it was the strut tops which suffered worst.
A bit of seam sealer might be in order. Especially on the lower part of the shock/strut tower.
Steve, loving how the RS 2000 is coming along. Can't wait for the next YCR video, it's always appointment viewing.
Great work on the rs2000 👍

Excellent job as usual Steve.
Great 'fettling' of those strut turret sides to take out the moody pressing quality
More incredible repairs Steve ! 👍🏻👏👏
Nice job but did you know they sell some spot welders? I had one that was two separate hand held contacts works really great and at an affordable price and a pinch spot welder as well...
I was just going to say the same. I had a water cooled tecna back in the day, with an assortment of arms . Saved so much time.
Love the channel, I’m hooked on the disaster Datsun, I have a mk1 Capri that needs your talents, shame I’m in Australia, keep up the great work, cheers Steve
Your work really shows how extra strength is added using quite light metal really.
Coming together nicely. 👍
Bit gappy on they strut tunnel supports Steve.
Outstanding job sir
Only one word, outstanding 👍
There's nothing more relaxing than settling down last thing at night and seeing a new YCR video on the channel.
Fantastic!
Brilliant as always 👍

Yes, Steve has two new ones there to weld on at some point.
Thanks for the video.
Love these videos keep them coming 👍👍

Really good films you make! But is it only customer cars or are some your own? Greetings from Sweden!
Working on your tan Steve, it's looking like an escort again great work
Thing of potential beauty!
I see a lot of times you guys have new replacement panels. even for the inside structures. And I wonder where do you get those replacement panels, especially the internal ones.
Magnum Panels supply every panel for a Mk1 Escort 👍🏽
Hi Steve. Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Thank You.
Awesome 👏🏻 Steve 😊 You and Ryan are just fantastic metal fabricators 🤩
No need if chassis jig?
been waiting for this one,mk1 escort beautiful
Great workmanship Steve, so happy to see the front end all coming together nicely 👌🏽
Was also happy to see that the front crossmember was also a genuine Ford panel, caught a glimpse of the sticker 😎
Hello fella. Your channel is one of my favourites. You make it enjoyable 👍
very nice
Hi can I ask why you opted for the undressed inner wings rather than getting them already dressed with the rs strengthening parts ?
Because it gives you a lot more movement to get all the panel gaps correct on the front end. Then the type 49 strengthening parts can be welded in afterwards
no wonder they rot out. all those little stamped plates on top of other pressing pieces to trap water dirt and salt.
This really makes you apriciate every little body piece of the car. Every little piece of metal does its part to make the car strong. Really shows why you shouldnt use expanding foam and bondo to fix structural parts. 😂
The fit between the front panel and the fenders is still fiddly, but you'll get it done. Great job!👍
Brilliant craftsmanship 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cracking job pleasure to watch. Had both mrk 1 escort and mrk 2 years ago and preferred the mrk 2 looking.
yeah brilliant you are getting good at this steve
hello from Brasil

She’s looking great 👍
Brilliant as always stevo
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video as always, car is coming along nicely, but got a lot more to tackle.keep on doing what your doing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Awesome work fella.
Brilliant work

Another fantastic video Steve. Will we ever see what that Plasma doodad you had a few weeks ago does?
So talented…won’t be to afford to have my car repaired by you if you keep showing everyone how good you are 🤣
Hi Steve, does the customer don't want stich welding on the chassis ? Is a lot stronger for (hard) road use.
it was spot welded originally, welding alters the structure of the surrounding metal, so these spot/plug welds are safer and stronger
I meant extra stich welding as for rally cars.@@russthebiker
Great work
Ich hatte einen MK 2 1600 Sport, ich habe in geliebt und was macht er,er ist mit dem Rost fremdgegangen der Mistkerl.😭
Video wie immer 👍👍👍⛏⛏⛏ (Mein Abendprogramm)
Just one for the algorithm.
Will all those long seams be sealed before painting, Steve?
👍👌👏👏👏
What no rust?
👍👍👍
Brilliant work
👍👍
Great work.
